I'm interested in knowing how an ex-Marine ended up on this show.  Did he want to be an actor, does he really want to work on a yacht or what?  I don't know what Marines usually do after they separate from service but I always figured it would be something different, unless he means to work his way up?  He had a pretty distinguished military career, maybe he wants to be a captain one day.  He's my favorite of the guys.

After he got out of the marines he got into porn. So I'd say he's probably more working the acting angle than the yachting angle.

That whole Sam arrest thing looks like it stems from a single DUI crash.  Fake ID, DUI with damage, 19 years old.  I don't excuse it, but it's not all that uncommon.

I am starting to like the show.  I didn't think I would give it beyond the first week, but it's growing on me.  I think it's because the crew doesn't seem to be mugging for the cameras like in most of the other Bravo shows.

I know I'm in the minority, but I kind of liked the douchebag guests this week.  They were kind of funny.

Its just an indicator of how Sam is a spoiled little princess. She's nineteen not nine. Thats old enough to drive and to know what the law is so she's not allowed the excuse of being 19. I see this a lot with reality whores and in real life and its incredibly frustrating beca use she's an adult, taking adult priveledges. That means when she's a stupid irresponsible piece of dogshit putting other lives in danger because she didn't fucking think, thats ALL she is - a stupid irresponsible piece of dogshit who didn't fucking think. Once she hit eighteen and started driving, she lost the "I'm a kid being a kid" excuse completely. She needs to hear just how fucking dumb she is because her little attitude strongly suggests she finds it cute.

Sam is the "hot chick"? Really? She looks like any non-descript, older sorority girl with a major underbite. I don't get it.

What confuses me even more is how she's attracted to that guy! (CJ?) He's weird looking plus he's in his 30s and still working as basically a waiter on that yacht. What is attractive about that?

I agree.  I don't think we learned much about CJ but it may be that he's just like her -- a spoiled rich kid who can't hold down a regular job -- and so they're practically soul mates.  She seems likes she's just all about having fun, getting drunk and hooking up, and I doubt any of the better guys on the yacht would give her a second glance.  Some of them seem actually interested in their careers so the most worthless stewardess ever would hardly appeal to them.

I had trouble telling Dave and Eddie apart for a little bit.

Bravo must have really cheaped out on this show because it's so obvious in the talking heads that he background is fake. They did a horrible job with the greenscreen or whatnot.

So one of the guys listed that he likes greyhounds and the girls thought it was the dog? They've never heard of the drink before? Wouldn't that make more sense?

I feel bad for Kat that she is doing all the work, but seriously, girlfriend is a hot mess. All of these people seem like they drink too much. It's one thing to blow off steam, it's another to wake up not knowing if you slept with someone. I hope that was "acting."

Did anyone catch the math for the tips? It sounded like they each got $650, which means the tip was maybe around $6-7k? One of them mentioned that 20% would be $1300 I think. So the yacht charter is around $65k? Maybe more if there are more than 10 crew. Not that I think those morons paid for it.

The crappy boat-slip location is probably a cheap, short-term rental as the real-owner of the temporarily-rechristened "Honor" doesn't want his ongoing charter-yacht business tainted by the faux-charters of the series.  BRAVO-TV only rented the boat for 5-weeks, with it's real crew---minus Capt. Rosbach and the ship's engineer---sent on temporary-leave ashore.

And while many yacht-charters are legit and well-behaved, one of the downsides are the turkeys and sleaze-balls that get past the charter-agent's screenings.  Illicit drugs and firearms are a recurring problem as many Caribbean authorizes not only arrest the crew along with the passengers---but the confiscate the boat outright, and there's no insurance that covers drug confiscation.  Twenty-five years ago a friend of mine and I discussed refitting and putting his 73-ft sloop on-charter out of Miami or Nassau---but drug-confiscation or outright-hijacking was too-much of a risk then (or now).

Does anyone know why Bravo hasn't been rerunning the latest episode?  They've been showing the first two this weekend and those are the only two listed on the Bravo site.

That was weird and I wondered about that too.

So after the first episode, I hated all these people except CrustyCaptain Lee.  Last week, Dave and Aleks started to grow on me.  This week, I was loving Ben and starting liking Cat, but who knows with her.  I loved Ben ragging on the douchebag guest.

So Sam is realizing that serving rich assholes is a sucky job and she's squandering her education.  Good for her I guess.

I know that on boats space has to be used very efficiently, but it was cracking me up in that last scene with Cat and Adrienne and CJ and CJ was down inside of some sort of compartment under the floor.  I can't imagine what he was doing in there.

I wasn't expecting this show to ever make me cry but damn, it got me.

I tried so hard not to but you could tell that Sam was also trying so hard not to and then I just started bawling (it also might have something to do with my hormones being all whacked bc of my hysterectomy but whatever, I still bawled like a baby).

I have a huge crush on the chef. I normally don't like accents but mmmMmmmm his is so incredibly sexy. And he's just so laid back and calm and cool. And his food looks freaking delicious.

That Simon? guy was such a douche. Ugh. I don't think any of the guests had ANY redeeming qualities about them at all.

I'm wondering what's up with Cat. I think the previews basically say that it wasn't alcohol. I wonder what it is. If maybe she has some kind of health issue or mental issue? Or takes medicine. Idk.

I haven't been watching this show, but I flipped it on for a few minutes because I was curious. I tuned in just in time to see a blonde woman getting drunk, talking about how horny she was, and seeing her being helped into bed, completely naked.

Good times... good times.

I loved this show after the first episode but now I am convinced it is nothing more than another fake scripted drama.

The fake crew...

The fake guests... (mostly recycled from other Bravo shows)

The fake drama...

Don't get me wrong, I still like the show and watched it again last night but it is as fake as "Young & The Restless".... on the seas.

I'm sure this is going to make me sound like a heartless prick, but does anyone see the irony in Sam's sister getting killed by a drunk driver and Sam herself having been pinched for a DUI?  That's not to trivialize her sister's death, and I'm sure Sam has reconciled things, but it's just ironic.

Onto more pleasant things.  Sam's "I can solve rockets" was absolutely ridiculous.  I, too, took those courses in college, but if I chose a job in the service industry, I wouldn't be thinking I'm above doing anything.

Kat's accent is so irritating.  Are we sure she's from RI?  I'm a Chicagoan, so far be it from me to criticize regional accents, but if she's representative of a regional RI accent, I'll never set foot in that state:)

BTW, Kat, cameras don't work in the manner that you think...you can't drink on camera and then move the camera AFTER...and even when moving it after, pointing it at a mirror that catches everything in the room doesn't do much.

I missed the last 15-20 minutes! I fell asleep and when I tried to re-watch on my DVR this morning, I accidentally deleted it! So what happened? Kat did something naughty?

I am over Sam's whining about how demeaning her job is. Yes, it is. I would never do it. But you CHOSE this. You supposedly left your rocket-solving career for this, so suck it up.

I had to laugh when the captain told CJ his hair needs to be in place. What about Sam and Kat? They always have these messy buns on top of their heads - something I would do w/ my hair upon waking. Doesn't look professional at all.

The drink Kat took a swig of looked something like a Vita Coco container to me.

I really hope Simon and his group were playing the douchiness up for the cameras, because their behavior was appalling. But Sam wasn't much better. I sort of suspected that her "white-trash rich people" rant was in part because she sees herself as in a higher social class than they are. She has a yacht, her family is well-off--she was bothered that those "white trash" people didn't instantly see her as someone who should be served, not serving.

I get why Sam is on this show - she's the ostensibly "pretty young thing" and she didn't want to be a maid on a yacht, she wanted to be on tv. Right now, to me she epitomizes every spoiled lower upper class kid out there. You know the type - rich but not so rich they simply don't have to work, so they flounce from job to job, wanting fun and excitement and they mostly goof off and then wonder why everyone is so ticked off with them. They toss around their degress, because they want it understood that they are *slumming* and are better than the average riffraff. I get it and its nice if you can afford it, but Sam, girl, you're an adult who works as a captive maid. Your daddy might own a yacht and if you want to be served, go be daddy's girl. But as a paid servant, let me explain your place - as far as the "white trash" who are paying you are concerned, you need to lick their vomit up off the floor and smile and say you like it. Because you're being paid to be their bitch. Don't like it? Use your degree to get something better.

Did anyone notice when they were showing the crew writing "Honor" in the sand on the beach for the guests' picnic, they caught it right at the point when they finished the 2nd "o" and it looked like "homo?"  What is with this damn show and illegible fonting?

I think this show's thread should be renamed to Below Deck - All Aboard the Honda.

I don't know about Kat being drunk, but she certainly seemed like she was on something.  Seems like she went to her room for only a minute or two and didn't have time to drink... unless of course, she chugged vodka or something.  When she originally moved the camera, I thought it was so she could take drugs.  I could be wrong, but I just thought it was awfully short amount of time for her to get drunk, per se.

I actually started to feel sorry for Sam last night when she was talking about kissing her sister goodbye in the morgue... until I read on here that  she got arrested for a DUI herself.  Does anyone know if it was before or after her sister being killed?  If it was after, she's even more of an asshole than I thought.  Way to frighten and disrespect your parents after your sister's death at the hand of a drunk driver.

C.J. is not cute.  Actually he's rather greasy-looking and the appearance of his hair is worse than that of the women's, IMO.  He must be pretty full of himself for his old ass to be bragging about Sam wanting him so badly... and I say this as someone older than he is.

Dave and Eddie are each adorable.  So far, I think the chef is pretty cool.

I feel sorry for Capt. Lee for having to put up with these clowns.  Really, Aleks, do you need to be told not to stand on the bow as the boat is pulling away?  I know nothing about boating and common sense tells me to stay the hell away off there... and he is supposed to have captained other vessels?

As a native Rhodey I should point out that whatever accent she's using, but it's definitely not any accent I've heard in this state. That or she's had one too many drunken falls onto her head.

Also, as irritating as most of the cast are I have to give it up to Eddie (because he's not as douchey as I assumed he would be), the chef (because he actually seems competent at his job), and David (because I own three of his boyfriend Trevor's films and I give David credit for being able to sit properly. Dude's hung like a Clydesdale).

I had to laugh when the captain told CJ his hair needs to be in place.

Me too, that made me laugh out loud, something like "get the hair out of your face or I'll have to get you some barrettes."  I think my mom said that to me about a million times during my childhood.

the chef (because he actually seems competent at his job)

Me too, I really enjoyed his snarkiness.  He said something like the guy seemed like he had just emerged from a bomb shelter and was unfamiliar with exotic thinks like blueberries and lettuce.  He was clearly disgusted but yet never missed a beat.  He must have wanted to kill them when he told the crew to eat their dinner because they were eating out and then came back because the restaurant was not to his liking and wanted to eat.  Seriously, dude, that is just beyond being a douche.

Dave and Eddie are each adorable.

I agree.  I like that they seem to see their crappy job of mopping floors and polishing railings as an opportunity to learn about yachting and possibly move up.  It's such a stark comparison to the others, who seem to be doing this because they can't hold down other jobs.

Does anyone know what CJ's job is?  He doesn't seem to have the same lowly job as Dave and Eddie, but he' seems to be below second or third mate.

In college I took trigonometry and many semesters of calculus and can do integral calculus and I never learned to solve a rocket.  I feel robbed.

A laid-off former co-worker of mine ended up as a ski bum.  It's a lot less money than what we were doing before, but it's a much more relaxed and laid-back lifestyle as well and there are the obvious side benefits, of course.  He'd like to eventually get back to being a lawyer, but in the meantime he's not in a hurry or desperate to do it and is quite content with his life..  Meanwhile, a friend of mine from law school was a flight attendant once and went back to it after being unable to find a job after she passed the bar.  But that's her career now and she treats it seriously.  Bringing this on topic - I'm pretty sure that Sam thought the job would be the tropical equivalent of being a ski bum - she'd bus a few tables, make a few beds, and get to spend the rest of the time tanning and drinking fruity cocktails on the yacht and picking up good-looking/wealthy tourists at the bars and clubs on shore as opposed to it being a serious job with hard work involved.

I also have a friend from high school who works on a cruise ship - he plays in the band for the shows and also does a few shifts/is trained as a steward - so not a yachtie, but there are some similarities - and he loves his job.  For one, there's not much of a demand for euphonium/trombone players so any time he gets to make money doing that he's happy, but also because there really is a work hard/play hard atmosphere and you form bonds quickly and intensely.  So I actually do understand the supposed glamor and appeal of the yachtie lifestyle, but Sam just approached this with a horrible attitude and constantly refuses to have any respect whatsoever for the job.  I'd have some sympathy for her "I can solve rockets!" thing if she were an underemployed college grad who's stuck taking whatever job she can get in this economy (some - when my friends in that situation complain, they do it after work when they're hanging out in bars, as opposed to directly to their boss) but she quit her old job to do this.

I like Adrienne, who strikes me as a good stew who might be a good chief stew on a smaller boat but was overpromoted to her current job, not just the management part - because I'm pretty sure that I'd have tried to push Sam overboard if I had to deal with her - but also the administrative stuff like the veggies a couple episodes ago or the drill at the beginning of this one that we occasionally see Captain Lee get on her and Aleks about.  I think she just needs a little bit more experience and training.

Okay, I'm so confused. maybe someone can help me out. I could have SWORN that I saw commercials for Below Deck and there were women dancing around a pole or some such stuff. I missed the episode and I have not been able to find it since!! They are doing a marathon right now and this episode (that I swear I missed and saw a commercial for) is not there.  Am I crazy?  Was there something about women on a pole, perhaps on the boat? Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

Sorry, this is so annoying to me. Even the Bravo website seems to skip episode "3".  Did they actually show it at all?

The people who chartered the boat on this week's episode were horrible. It was so annoying that woman went off on Sam for eating the filet for dinner ("Can you believe it???"). Lady, you were supposed to be eating at the restaurant on shore and your douchebag friend told the chef to serve the steaks to the crew.

In the preview for next week's episode, Adrienne basically tells Kat that it's her fault she was being sexually harassed. Horrible.

I'm willing to bet Kat's confession next week coming up is she's bipolar or something. I don't think she was drunk (cos from what you saw on camera she only took 1 swig out of a bottle, which didn't even look like a booze bottle) but I do think she took something...cos there;s no way 1 shot of anything is going to make you act out of your mind retarded-drunk.
