DIRECTV's upcoming first original series premieres this April on the Audience Network – Ch 239. Rogue stars Grace Travis (Thandie Newton) as a morally and emotionally-conflicted undercover detective who is tormented by the possibility that her own actions contributed to her son's death. Grace's search for the truth is further complicated by her forbidden relationship with Jimmy Laszlo (Marton Csokas), the crime boss who may have played a hand in the crime.

Anyone else watch this? I liked it enough to download the third episode when it was available on demand as of today. There was lots of angst. Grace is so focused on finding her sons killer that she's alienating the child that she still has. I also found the nudity and sex on the show to be way more graphic than anything that I have seen on subscription cable. That's not a bad thing, but the shot of the detective and hooker from the back was a little gross. The male frontal we got in the second and third episodes was very surprising to me. They don't even do that on True Blood.lol

I watched the free preview of the 1st half of the premiere, and I liked it a lot. Unfortunately, I don't have Direct TV but i heard it will be available on Netflix.

I watched the preview and then watched again. I have the say the dick and tits did take me by surprise as I just wasn't expecting that on the Audience Network, but it made sense. I like that, at least it seems to me, Thandie is playing 3 characters. Grace, Jackie and then a mixture of the two once she comes kind of clean with Jimmie. Jackie and Grace spoke differently had different mannerisms. Worked for me. Kavan Smith got some on a TV show!!

Jimmie's oldest son just made me laugh. The jewelry, see-through shirts, etc., the car, oh man that was funny. His wife is a piece of work, I can see her going Lady Macbeth at some point.

Overall, I enjoyed it and thought the undercover cop working with the criminal is a nice twist. I'll be back.

Is this the right thread or is there another one? Four replies in ten days? Is this show really not that popular?

Quite shocking to say the least. I don't think I've ever seen a male scrotum shake like that even on Skinemax. The male frontal of the cop in episode 2 was completely unnecessary. The rear entry in episode 3 was equally surprising. We don't get this even on Spartacus. And the women on Spartacus wear merkins. So it looks like Directv is upping the bar. Hey, if it gets viewers watching, it's all fair game.

Getting to the story, I like it. But are we really to believe that Lazlo would trust Grace after he finds out she is a cop and then continue to work with her? I don't think so.

I find the daughter completely annoying. Yes, your mom isn't around much. But quit with the pouty face and at least try to have some semblance of a mother-daughter relationship with her.

The actors who play Jimmy and Jimmy's son look like the could be related in real life.

I'll be back. Got it on the season pass already!

Is this show really not that popular?

After watching the first couple of episodes, I don't know if it's unpopular, or just not that good.

The main problem for me is that Grace was made way too early, and there's really no reason for her to be alive. But I guess since Jimmy has the hots for her...that minor detail is to be glossed over.

I'm struggling with this because, despite Thandie's best efforts, it's hard not to see Grace as a bit of an idiot (and Jimmy, for that matter). And yes, I realize she's dealing with grief and obsession. But since TPTB didn't bother to show how good she was before the story jumped to her son's death and the "aftermath," I don't have much to go on.

I'll check out the other episodes that have aired, maybe it gets better.

Yes, Grace was made early, but she made the argument to Jimmy that he should keep her alive because they both wanted the same thing - to find out who was shooting using the homemade bullets - him to find out who was trying to kill him, and her to find out who killed her son, so there was plenty of reason for him to leave her alive.

I've seen some harsh commentary on this show on the web, and maybe it's because I caught up via "marathoning" all 7 eps so far in a couple of days, but I'm really enjoying it.  Yes, you have to overlook quite a bit about what Grace gets away with, but plenty happens and it's entertaining.

Maybe it took a while to get going if you watched it an episode at a time, which lost some people early on, but I have to say, I enjoyed it from the first couple of episodes, and definitely would recommend it to anyone looking to catch up like I did.  Obviously it being a 'DirectTV' special severely limits its audience, but hopefully the first season will be written to stand alone if it doesn't get renewed.  It certainly looks like the season has been written to reach a satisfying conclusion after the full 10 eps have aired.

Just watched the episode that aired this past Wednesday and have to say, good on them for taking out Max. I really like that people are TALKING to each other and sharing information, even if they're lying. I feel so for Tom and Evie, but I really like how he still trusts Grace and does as she asks even if he doesn't know what's going on.  Also, for Grace to find out that her son was put on the radar of someone (maybe other's have already figured out who killed Sam, but not me) just because she took him to a meet and left him in the car has to be devastating.
