Lawrence and Derek J have a show!

“The only thing better than one Real Housewives of Atlanta hairstylist hosting a show about fashion… is two,” according to honorary ‘Wife Miss Lawrence. He is teaming up with socialite Bevy Smith and fellow ATL hair guru Derek J in Fashion Queens, an all-new talk show series premiering this Sunday, March 17th at 11:30pm. The three-episode series will cover all things fashion, ranging from haute couture to celebs to global style trends.

“Bravo viewers have loved watching Derek J and Miss Lawrence tell it like it is for years on our air, so when we saw the opportunity to pair them with Bevy Smith, whose fashion point of view we’ve always admired, we jumped at the opportunity,” said Eli Lehrer, VP of Development and Original Programming for Bravo. “We think it’s going to make for a totally unique, deliciously outrageous take on the week in fashion.”

Derek J and Miss Lawrence have been keeping it real for 5 seasons of RHOA, providing comic relief, a listening ear, juicy gossip, and fabulous hairstyles to our favorite Georgia peaches. This isn’t the first time the pair has hosted a Bravo show. How could we forget last season, when they dished on what really happened behind the scenes of RHOA in “Hairstylists Tell All.”:

To be perfectly honest, I could live without the woman, but I guess they didn't want to look like a real life version of Men on Film. It's a harmless show and Lawrence seems to have finally found the correct shade of red for his lips so I'll be watching.

I live for that shade of red (especially since it's matte) and want it! Though, I ended up turning the show off because I didn't care for the female host. Her way of speaking was a bit stilted to me.

Ugh. Will not watch. Lawrence is desperate to be put on, and Deryck/Derrick looks like a canned ham shoved into pumps. The less said about Bevy the better. It's like Gay Honey Boo-Boo. They're in on the joke, but it makes me feel dirty to laugh at them anyway. No bueno, Bravo. This show is riding some kinda line for me.

Exactly. Not to mention all three of these hosts are just trying too damn hard. Lawrence and Derrick are just not attractive, whether as men, women, both, or neither. The fact that Derrick insists on wearing women's clothing that would only look good on someone built like Naomi Campbell when he's built like Phaedra is just foolish. He wears clothes that would only look good on a size 4 woman, and he's an XXL man. No, sir. And I can't with Lawrence and all his wigs and makeup.

I will say this... Lawrence got put on by Sheree, and he's on a spin-off (even if it's short run) and she's about to be on "Iyanla Fix My Life." It would be funny if it weren't so sad.

Skipping this. That Bevy woman was horrible on Chef Roble's show, so I have no interest in watching her anywhere else.

Pretty much. At least Derek J is a real-life friend and hairdresser to Kandi...Lawrence just moves from HW to HW. First, with Sheree to Marlo to Kenya.

I've seen Bevy somewhere else before but I can't remember where. All I know is I don't like her on this show. Lawrence and Derek J, I actually don't mind. I don't really watch the Housewives shows so I don't know anything about them. They seem like interesting enough characters but this show just comes off like Andy's sad attempt at a Fashion Police knock-off and neither of these guys are snarky or mean-spirited enough to properly fill Joan Rivers' shoes.

Yeah, Bevy is definitely mis-cast on the show. She looks like someone's grandma and she talks with a lisp that can be a bit distracting. Thank God it's only 3 episodes. It's really difficult to watch 3 ugly people talk smack about other people.

Is Bevy a woman? If so, that kinda ruins the show's title, does it not?

I won't be watching this; you guys covered my reasons.

I don't mind Derek J because at least he isn't a mean spirited cow like Laurence is. Laurence seems to be the most fucked up character on this show and is really kind of scary to look at. And Bevy is a fashion maven because WHY?! She does throw in a funny once in a while though.

I just caught about 2 minutes of this last night. That's it. 2 minutes is all I could take. Saves me space on the tivo - forget this nonsense.

She used to be a fashion editor. Kinda easy to figure out why she's no longer one, tho. Laurence is just a bitter ass licker like a tick jumping from housewife to housewife hoping it makes him feel relevant. He has a personal beef with Phaedra because he heard from someone else who overheard someone else say she didn't care for men in dresses. Although it was unconfirmed he never misses a chance to show his hatred for Phaedra (who by the way is besties with Derik J) He has his tongue firmly up the squared behind of Kenya Moore right now (Sheree, his other idol, was fired from the show)so he promotes her on this show every chance he gets.

The only one on the show that I feel has any credability is Derek J. Actually Bevy tried to quell Laurence's tirade on Phaedra but he is so full of himself

And that awful hairpiece he has on his head for bangs look like slow dying cat with tremers.

Is that why he was going in on Phaedra so hard last night? Lawrence needs to get his whole life. I agree he is little more than a hanger on as opposed to Derek J who is a legit friend to Kandi. Bev can go anytime now, she's just necessary. As much as I like Derek J, I really do wish he would go up a few sizes in his clothes. Everything looks like sausage casing on him.

Derek J has that Mariah Carey syndrome where everything they wear is just ONE size too small and it is so frustrating.

Ugh! Once again Miss Lawrence shows how bad a judge he is by choosing Kenya as having the best costume. His bias is so tired. And I feel he puts too much energy into dissing Phaedra every way he can. His analogy that Phaedra shouldn't have worn her fishnet bathing attire because she's supposed to be an upstanding church lady or some such nonsense pissed me off. It is not slutty to wear a bathing suit. Kadooz to Derrick J for asking him if the swimwear without the fishnet would have been more wholesome. Lawrence is so far up Kenya's ass it's pathetic.

Sooo true, Swankie. He is shameless with his blatant asskissery of Kenya. He really thought hr costume was the best? Really?! I'm not saying she looked bad. I don't think she did. But I wouldn't call her the best either.

And you know, at least when Phaedra wore the swimsuit and netting she was, you know, at the beach on vacation. She didn't put on a huge church hat with it and wear it to a charity event. Laurence is just plain shady and hating to be hating, and I don't have the time or patience for it. Its particularly disturbing to me because I actually used to like him. Once. I am deeply curious if Kenya somehow magically became besties with Phaedra if he'd still be so rabid toward her.

I prefer Derek J, I just wish he didn't slouch in his seat the way he does. But he's not catty and nasty for no reason. Just because you want to read someone doesn't mean you have to drop the whole damn library on their head while you're at it. Miss Laurence could really take some social cues from him.

I happened to catch the last couple minutes before the RHoA finale and got the impression it's Bravo's attempt at ripping off "Men in Film" (still wondering if Bev is a third bad cross-dresser) and Fashion Police.

Hated it!

It's just been announced as part of one of seventeen new Bravo shows. I guess this means it's going to be around for a while.

I don't like what this show is trying to be. It sorta seems like it is trying to be E! Fashion Police with a twist of paying more attention to G-listed reality shows and stars and me no like. I just can't take Derrick and Laurence seriously as fashion mavens looking like they do. They have no moral authority to judge anybody's fashions when they consistently look terrible themselves. Bev seems to have receipts but she just doesn't work for me .. at all. She is matronly which would be okay if she had some real fabulousity going, but she doesn't so no. Plus her voice kinda bugs. She also always seems to be shout talking to me. UGH!

I love the suggestion upthread that this should be more of a Soup tv show that kinda reviews and recaps highlights and lowlights of Bravo shows with fashion and hair reviews mixed in. That it what I thought I was getting when this show was announced.

Even though Derek J often looks like he needs to go up a size in his clothing, I find him to be more rational than Lawrence. His reads never feel personal and cutthroat. Lawrence, on the other hand seems to only be able to kiss Kenya's fake butt or dis Phaedra. If they got a good comedian instead of Bev, this show could be fun. I would love to see one of RuPaul's gals in the mix, someone like LaTrice Royale or even Manilla Luzon. I just had a thought, imagine how perturbed Dwight must be. If only he had not gotten so full of himself, he might be sitting up there with Lawrence & Derek.

Do Dwight and Laurence get along? I seem to recall Laurence talking a whole lot of shit about Dwight. Laurence just comes off as a spiteful, catty queen. No es bueno. I love the idea of a former RuPaul contestant being in the mix. I think Derrick would make a great host too because he seems very diplomatic.
