In tour bus terms, "Are we there yet?"

Ballads, shmallads.

That's all Amber could do with the pimp spot? Did I miss the swimsuit portion of the pageant? (Interesting to see Uncle Nigel felt the need to bury Candice in the 6th slot and give Amber 10th).

Kree is really, really good. I think this is hers to lose.

I'm glad Jimmy called Angie out on all her posing. And wtf is going on with her hair? It's a huge mess.

I threw some votes to Devin, His voice is just so smooth and lovely.

I know it's crazy but I thought Jordin was way better in her version than Candice was. I hated hated hated Candice's last note. Just because she sings very well doesn't mean I like it.

Who's that blonde country girl, Janelle? Yeah I hated her.

Did I miss that tonight's theme was songs done at one time by former contestants?

Nicki, I would have been so much happier if you never showed up.

And wtf is going on with [Angie's] hair? It's a huge mess.

I could not agree more. It made me viscerally angry to look at it. Why is it all flyaway like that? Are those extensions that she PAID FOR?

Word...the word 'pageant' describes Amber's performance. I thought she must have had something special to earn the pimp spot but no...just ordinary R&B singing.
Overall the Candace, Kree, and Angela sounded pretty good. Everyone else was just meh to me.

That was a rather boring night.

I liked Angie's performance although she shouldn't of done a Kelly classic, Candice was good also, but it left me empty.

I'm guessing Amber got the pimp spot because they really didn't want a girl to go first and she was the logical choice if one did. How she got a Standing O makes no sense, song seemed too fast.

Worst of the night by a mile by Lazaro, karaoke to the max. And I don't want to seem mean, but Keith please don't ask him a question let alone a complex one that needs more than a one word answer.

Best - Angie, Candice.
Worst - Lazaro, Devin, Paul.
Bottom 3 - Devin, Paul, Curtis.
Going home - Devin.

I'm picking Curtis to exit.

Keith had one of three possible motives for quizzing Lazaro: he was curious; he was trying to rev up the "Lazis" (yes); or he was going for the embarrassment. I pick Door #3, and it is quite a revelation.

Kree was my absolute favorite. That was lovely.

Candice was good, but it really did pale in comparison to Jordan Sparks's version for me.

Angie's package was....unfortunate. And I don't know if that was the right song to get away from Jimmy's pageant concerns. I guess she really didn't understand what he was saying.

The boys really did seem second tier to me, but I think Paul will still a get a lot of votes.

And wtf is going on with [Angie's] hair? It's a huge mess.

It looks like '80s Prom Hair to me.

I'm way over Amber. I can already see that TPTP manipulations with her. "He said I was beautiful, I liked that", no he said you were pretty. Get over yourself! I don't get it, she's not even that good looking, and she's nothing more than a pageant bot. There is nothing original about Amber.

So many boring songs were sung I don't know where to start. The only ones that stuck with me were Kree and Candice. Everyone else can go home now and just have them competing against each other in every genre until the final.

Lazaro, the sob story can only carry him so far and it's clear that he's outclassed. He and Janelle were the bottom 2 to me. Followed closely by Mr. I am a 65 year old man Curtis. Seriously, Jimmy says bring it current, and that's the best he can do? Good god.

Why does Burnell do that thing with his hands, someone really needs to stop him, like ASAP. I couldn't even focus on his singing because it bothered me so very much.

The rank for me tonight was: Candace, Kree - Big Gap - Devin, Angie, Paul, Burnell, Amber, Curtis, Lazaro and Janelle.

3 Thoughts

1) Nicki please be 2 hours late next time
2) Keith don't open your judging to Lazaro with a question to him
3) Randy don't say you aren't going to talk about sexuality after Paul has finished singing (even though it cracked me up)

Are there budget cuts, why were the guys raiding the Randy Jackson Fashion Collection closet? The only one who looked improved was Burnell and he still had some animal print showing.

Don't you remember Nicki is a cardinal (per the Grammy's)? She was voting for the new pope, that's why she was late.

Curtis was flat as hell through the whole song.

And Candice conjured Fantasia too by reworking her crazy jumpsuit from the finale last year.

Kree for the win. I love her voice. Her performance was creamy like butter. And Candice is pretty great too even on an overdone song. I think her version blew Jordin's away, and I liked Jordin's. I voted for these two and Devin whose got a lovely smooth voice and he made the song his own. I think has the potential to do more current music, even if he'd rather sing AC.

Apart from these three, I'm pretty bored.

Burnell has a lovely voice too, but that was a pretty snoozy song choice. Amber is lovely looking and has potential but she didn't come close to Kelly's strength. None of the others made much of impression on me other than - meh. Angie's giant hair bugs me. Lazaro is so nervous it's uncomfortable to watch. Paul and Janelle are pretty to look at but generic. Curtis just bugs. the. shit. out of me.

Nikki is unprofessional. Everyone knows about LA traffic, so maybe she should get her ass in gear earlier so she's not late next time.

Keith was trying to generate votes for Lazaro? Interesting.

I wish Minaj had stayed wherever she was... somewhere else. The glasses, really?

Ryan is a tiny, tiny man with a tiny, tiny head/face.

Mimi looked lovely. Whoever fucked with her head about her left side being bad should be taken out back and shot.

How was Angie posing as a poser? Dammit, seems I tuned out too soon. I did however catch a first glimpse of her before she sang (and before turning the channel) and thought WTH with the flyaway split ends and whatnot.

Usually like Devin, but was not blown away with the song choice.

I would rather listen to Justin sing A Moment Like This. Forever. Amber was way out of tune at the beginning and also at the end. And yeah, that little "you're pretty" "Jimmy said I was beautiful... *head tilt* ...I like that" was incredibly obnoxious.

Curtis- "I Believe"? Really? I thought I read somewhere that they couldn't do coronation songs? Well anyway... predictable is the only word I can think of to describe this performance and it was pretty obvious why he was first. Nothing we haven't heard from him before. Yawn.

Janelle- I liked Janelle before but this performance was pretty bad. Scotty did this song way better.

Devin- Devin is my favorite boy and I think he has a fantastic voice, but this performance was a little underwhelming. It was good, just not as wow as some of his others. I disagreed when I think it was Keith who said it wasn't the right song for him or something because he could obviously relate to it and I thought he connected very well. And I'm glad he skipped the Spanish thing this time, even though I do like it, I'm just glad he skipped it this time. I threw my SuperVotes to him.

Angie- She has one of the best voices there, but I don't like her. I didn't feel any passion in this performance. She was singing all the right notes, but it felt rather soulless.

Paul- Probably one of his better performances but I think the country vote will go to Kree. And once again, Scotty sang this song better.

Candice- Normally I like Candice but I HATE HATE HATE this song and she sounded like she was basically shouting the entire song. It was good vocally and emotionally I guess but I didn't really enjoy it. Regardless, I think she is safe.

Lazaro- I liked him in the beginning but his sob story is not cutting it anymore. He has the weakest voice of everyone. He can't even hold long notes. And his song choices are so generic, predictable, and overdone. Out of all the Kelly songs he chose Breakaway? It's been way overdone and did not do anything for his voice. But I think he will be safe because he has a lot of fans and his sob story might buy him another week.

Kree- One of the best vocals of the night, maybe even the best actually, for me. I love her natural, raw delivery and she has such great powerful tone. She is my favorite girl and I get total Carly Smithson vibes from her. I would love to see her in the Final 2. The only thing I'm wondering is how, after all those demos she's sung on, has she not landed a record deal yet? This girl can sing!

Burnell- I'm on the fence about him. I think he has an interesting tone and doesn't sound like the typical R&B singer, but I haven't liked many of his performances so far. And the hand thing is quite weird and distracting.

Amber- I don't think she sang this quite as good as Kelly. I too noticed the "beautiful" comment and I was like "He said you were pretty..." She does seem kind of full of herself sometimes, but I think she has just gained more confidence which she didn't have last year.

I predict the Bottom 3 will be:
1) Janelle
2) Curtis
3) Paul

It's hard to say which of them will go home though.

I can't believe I'm about to say this but can they force a Disco/Dance theme on the contestants next week?

This theme would have been better if TPTB restricted the choices to post-IDOL original songs/covers only.

If American can just send home Lazaro, Curtis, Paul, and Janelle in any order, Burnell and Devin in the 5th and 6th spots, I'll be happy. Hell if it'll happen, though.

Lazaro was the worst, in my own opinion, by my own ear. I don't think I recall him ever singing on key completely through one song during this entire season. He's out of his depth here. I've heard better covers of Breakaway by non-singers on youtube just goofing around.

Angie was my favorite of the night. She looked great and sounded great. Simply outstanding vocals and I like that she did her own thing, totally different from Kelly's take as a performance and a vocal. She is a star.

Kree has a great recording voice, but I felt, here, she was a bit vacant? It was a little too safe, a little too bland. I want to see her step it up as a performer. Amber I felt fell into that pageant performance. The only way A Moment Like This works is if you are absolutely sincere. And that's a end capper song. It's not a song for the beginning of a journey. I didn't get it.

That said, I'll take all these girls over these guys. America will still boot a female tomorrow. Bank on it.

I think her hair is naturally curly and she straightens it sometimes. Also, she was born with enough hair for two normal people.

Lazaro is so nervous it's uncomfortable to watch. Paul and Janelle are pretty to look at but generic. Curtis just bugs. the. shit. out of me.

Amen, I haven't hated anyone as much as I hate Curtis since Danny Gokey. And when Keith asked Lazaro his question I was cringing. I don't think Keith did it just to be mean.

These ballads. Lord help us all.

1. Candice - Damn, I love her voice. Why wasn't this placed in the 'pimp slot'? I mean, I get that she had it already, but...so has Amber. This was the best vocal of the competition so far, and eclipsed Jordin Spark's performance by a mile.

2. Kree - I love her voice, and I've never rooted for a Country contestant. Kree's consistency is amazing.

3. Amber - And here we have Amber, turning the page of the coloring book but still coloring within the lines. Taking on the original coronation ballad? Hardly a shock, but she selivered a strong, competent vocal on a mediocre night. I really want Amber to surprise us on the song choice. Also, I expect to see her in the death slot next week, she's had two pimp slots early on.

4. Angela - "I Surrender"? I cannot deal. Couldn't compare to Clarkson, and it was the most pedestrian choice of the night. Nice vocals though, Angela.

5. Devin - Safe? Yes, but it was a risk, and it was a nice song choice on a evening where we had to sffer through "I Believe." Smooth vocals, and a nice delivery. He could be in danger though, you know...since he's a guy.

6. Burnell - Burnell was decent on a night where Lazaro, Curtis, & Paul were 0 for 3. There were a few bu notes, but otherwise, he delivered a competent vocal tonight...but vocally, he doesn't have the power that Ruben has. He definitely struggled on the bridge. Also, major points to the stylists for getting him together.

7. Paul - Do. Not. Want. This really worked for Scotty two seasons ago, but it lacked any real passion coming Paul. He should hit the Bottom 3 tonight, but he'll be safe for obvious reasons.

8. Janelle - Much better than her first two live performances, not by much though. I will say, Janelle looks like a star. Kudos for not taking the Carrie Underwood bait. If a girl leaves us tomorrow, can it be Janelle?

9. Curtis - Super self indulgent, just like LaKisha, Jacob, & Joshua before him. Fantasia really is the only perforn who could deliver this song in a touching manner, so can these contestants stop picking it?

10. Lazaro - Horrible performance, but oddly, I hope he makes it through tomorrow's elimination. I don't want him to go far, but it would be just wrong for him to outlast the horrible Curtis Finch Jr. Even if he was slightly worse on the night. Oh...who am kidding....see you in the Top 5, Lazaro.

Bottom 3:

WANT: Lazaro, Curtis, Paul/Janelle [Curtis OUT]

PREDICTION: Paul, Curtis, Lazaro [Lazaro or Curtis OUT]

Thank God for DVRs.

Curtis: boring, fast forward afer 1 minute
Janelle: weak, fast forward after 1 minute
Devin: boring, fast forward after 1 minute
Angie: nice, mostly because I absolutely love cheesy Celine Dion songs
Paul: weak and boring, fast forward after 1 minute
Candice: omg, what's happening. Rewind. Go to youtube and listen to Jordin Sparks and Haley Reinhart. Rewind again
Lazaro: weak and boring, fas forward after 1 minute
Kree: boring, fast forward after 1 minute
Burnell: kinda boring, but managed to keep my attention to the end
Amber: boring, fast forward 1 minute

By the end I thought I thought that the show needs executive meddling BADLY. They could, for example, line up the contestants and tell them: no freaking way you're all singing ballads, and those that manage to get the ballads in that fight ring we'll put you in, make sure you pick some good ones and sing them in a non-boring way.

(Interesting to see Uncle Nigel felt the need to bury Candice in the 6th slot and give Amber 10th).

I don't think they tried to bury her. If the rehearsals were anywhere remotely like the performances, they knew she'd stand out no matter what spot and sail through, and could afford to put her in the middle and save the pimp spot for a time when she might need it more.

Loved Candace. I also liked Kree, she does have a beautiful voice but I think she's going to be boring just standing up there. I get a Pia Toscano vibe from her.

So Amber thinks she's hot. Big, big turnoff.

Devin has a beautiful voice but he needs to step it up. Boring song choices will do him in.

I hadn't noticed Burnell before, but now I understand the comments about his hand movements. Very annoying.

Overall it was a meh night and I have not idea who's going home but I'm guessing Curtis or Janelle.

Kree was really great tonight. She just has a way about her that I love to watch and listen to.

Candice was also really good as well, but I feel like I have heard her style of singing before done over and over again, so I am not sure that I'd run out and buy one of her records.

Amber was pretty good, but to me is not as strong of a singer as Candice, Kree, and Angie. Given that, I think she did well with a big song like "Moment Like This."

I surprisingly loved Paul's performance tonight. For the first time he was on key throughout and very, very solid.

Burnell did his thing again tonight. I've learned not to watch his performance so that I don't get distracted with his hands.

The rest of the performances were so-so for me. The most memorable piece was Angie acting like she didn't know what Jimmy was talking about her being "pageanty" at times. Yes, Angie, you do act and sound a bit like a beauty queen at times. Get over yourself.

I think Devin will be the one to leave tomorrow, but I hope Curtis' time is up.

Candice was awesome!! I didn't watch the Jordin Sparks season, so I can't compare it, but she was definitely the best of the night. Love her. Still love Kree, but didn't really love that song. Paul got 1 of my votes because he's adorable but he picked a lame song.

Lazaro sucked but I didn't think he should have made it this far, so whatever. Angie thinks she's awesome, which is annoying. But the editing in her segment made me laugh. She said one thing that Jimmy said really stuck with her and then she couldn't remember what it was, lol. Amber has a great voice, but she sped up the song too much and it was a shallow performance.

I can't really remember anyone else. The son choices were lame-- inspirational ballads, blah.

I really enjoyed the show tonight. Well, except for Nicki. I know that the real reason she was late was because she was at Disneyland. She was still wearing the glasses from "Bug's Life" when she finally appeared. Then we got to listen to her useless blather and totally inappropriate remarks, too many to mention. Just yuck.

I enjoyed Paul tonight, mostly because I just love that song, but I thought he did a great job. Thought Candace was good, LOVED Kree (again, love that song) and Angie was good, too. Curtis just bugs me, he always sticks his butt out and his grimaces are annoying as well.

I think bottom three will be Curtis, Devin, and Lazaro. Maybe swap Janelle for Devin.

I for one was thoroughly entertained. Overall I have found this season to be a genuine delight and surprise after the dark Steven and JLo years. And I am hopeful that this new voting system will turn out well. Before the wgwg's kept winning because teeny boppers and cougers were the only ones who cared enough to dial and text that much, but now, you gotta be pretty lazy if you've got your puter tablet or iphone right there to not just go ahead and toss your fave some votes. I have never voted as much as I have the last 2 weeks, and Ive never missed an Idol episode, and am not any more invested this season really, it's just that they've made it easy for me so I'll do it. I also like how when it logs you in under fb and then says it is gonnanpost your votes to your timeline you can shut that shit down in a quickness. I dont need my friends losing respect for me when they find out how seriously I take my AI :).

That said, goddamn do I love me some Candice Glover. I loved Jordin's performance of that song, and I feel like Candice just made her look like a fool. Kree is my other fave but I wasnt nearly as enamoured of her performance this week...I thought it paled next to the original, and even next to Carrie's and especially kd lang's version. Still love her tho and would be psyched to see her and Candice in the finals. Angie and Amber were 3rd and 4th for me. I thought both did less well than Kelly, but not by much which is saying something as she is Idol's most talented winner imho. A Moment Like This is kinda a guilty pleasure song for me too...holds upmuch better than any other coronation song save Home.

Lastly, still love the judges this season, still have a crush on Keith Urban, still think Nicki is surprisingly astute and clever...but find it ironic that she gave Paul Jolley such shit for professing to being nervous during an audition, reamed him out for not being professional...and yet can't be bothered to compensate for traffic for her multi-million dollar hosting gig. Get it together, girl.

Kree and Candace are miles better than the rest of them. I loved Candace's performance and the way she can do such unexpected vocals. That said, Kree was my favorite, but I worry that it might have been too soon for a "subtle" performance like that. Last week I was thinking I'd love to hear her sing "Crying" but maybe it was too soon? Eh, she'll be safe. I want her to something big and non country next week. She really can sing anything, I bet.

I feel crazy, because again I didn't hear what the judges did with Amber. She is okay, but no way was tat standing O worthy.

Angie bugs the crap out of me. A friend texted me, "Is she wearing a coonskin cap?"

Janelle and the boys were all boring. I like Devin though and hope he stays to do better songs.

It cracks me up how obviously much Nicki and Mariah hate each other.

Reading some comments about boring ballads and it got me thinking about this theme. The majority of performers fell into a trap in two ways. Either they wanted to pay tribute to an Idol they like or they wanted to duplicate a moment a Idol had. You just can't have a 'moment' on cue. Amber was totally manufactured up there, singing that song, the dress, the lighting, everything about it felt false. Kelly didn't go out there week one like that, "Here's my moment."
