I've liked Zac from the beginning, because he seems able to critique a dress without making the designer feel as if war crimes have been committed, and he lacks Michael Kors' instinct for the jugular. But this week he won me over completely by taking on Nina Garcia and her dictum that girls don't want long dresses for prom. Whether or not Kate and Tu's gown was completely successful is, I think, debatable, but I loved Zac pointing out that he dresses 'many' young women for prom 'all over the country' and they do, in fact, often choose long gowns.

He seems to genuinely want to help the designers improve rather than just score points off them (c.g. Kors). I love him for that.

He for sure does a better job explaining why a dress is especially challenging and why a dress is wrong. "The colour is wrong" is certainly a better critic than "why did you do a long dress?"

I've really enjoyed listening to Zac's critiques. I've learned a lot about design ideas from him. On a shallow note, he's really cute.

I have really enjoyed him this season, as well. The intent with his critiques always seems to be to help the designers do better, not to totally demean them or to say some quippy comment.

I have always thought he reminded me of someone and I finally realized it - and should have back when Kristen Davis was a guest judge this season - they could be brother and sister - especially around the eyes.

I hope and pray he comes back for future seasons and Michael Kors is let out to pasture.

I think it would be nice for them to share the seat...since they both apparently too busy to do a full season, each of them could do half of the episodes. And they have both a valid point of view to provide to the designers.

I, too, need Zac on as a permanent judge. He is truly a breath of fresh air. Somewhere between Nina's boring aesthetic and Heidi's critiques which are usually based solely on whether or not it's sexy enough for her... we need Zac.

I agree with what others have been saying. I like Zac's constructive criticism style. I recently sent a daughter to THREE proms.. long ball gowns all. They are very popular for a large section of the country.

I've been loving Zac Posen this season as well. I do think he pushed a bit too hard when he tried to spin Heidi and Nina's "Dr. Seuss" comments to Patricia into compliments because they're mothers of small children. But, I liked how he explained how hard stingray is to work with in defense of Daniel. I think he doesn't go as much with his personal taste as Nina and Michael Kors do, but more with what is artistic and saleable. A design might not be what he would personally make/sell/buy, but if he can imagine a customer out there who would, then he supports it (as long as it's not hackneyed). A successful designer needs to be creative so as to not get lost in the shuffle, and they need a market, but that market need not include Nina Garcia.

He is so superior to Kors, as far as I'm concerned, that I would be happy never to have to hear Kors and his quippy, nasty bullshit again. Zac is about the designers and what's actually going on. Kors is about Kors.

Does anyone know if Zac is coming back next season? I thought he was terrific, and watching Michael Kors return as 'guest judge' for the finale made me very nervous that he might come back full time.

Just to bring the shallow to this thread: Zac is super attractive. Not just his looks, but his personality, his constructive criticism and positive energy. He seems like he would be a fun person to be around.

And of course, I hope he returns next season.

I will add to the Zac fan club. I have adored him and his work since he first came on the scene. He seems very humble, for his success and is one of the few young designers that speaks as though he really wants to help other young designers, which is rare. And he is model-handsome.

But man, his clothes are expensive...almost 2K for a skirt...$5k and more for gowns...
Guess I will never own any of his stuff.

Speaking of Zac, and prom, I was just browsing some prom gown sites and 80-90% of the gowns shown are full-length gowns, a few knee-length. Nina should take a look around her.
