Kate is my favorite this season, so far, and it's making me so confused about the Road to the Runway. She got talking heads about how she likes to psychologically destroy people, a real sociopath kind of thing. I figured they were showing us who to hate, like she would be completely horrible, the villain of the show.

But in fact, she seems to be the nicest, most gracious, most generous designer there. She's gone out of her way to praise and support her teammates on the runway--I remember her praising Patricia, and this week possibly saving Tu with her warm words. So I'm confused, not just that she said those things--I feel like it might have been an act to get cast--but also that the editors chose to show those talking heads at all, if they're not going to come into play.

She's also really pretty--my brother was bummed that she's engaged, to her high-school sweetheart no less. I like her style more than I like her designs, but that's true of a lot of people who have been on PR, especially this season.

Yeah, the first episode it portrayed (her words though) that she was this young bitchy designer but its been the opposite. She is actually nice & helpfull. She hasn't thrown anyone under the bus. Also, she really is pretty & seems genuinely nice. So, I'm not really sure about the mixed portrayal that she was given. It's not like its a story arc either. It was the first episode in her confessional but then nothing was shown to support it. Kind of odd.

I remembered thinking that in the first episode or so when she seemed to be taking the backseat during the team discussions and getting stuck with constantly collaborating. She must have been trying to get cast, which is smart. Or maybe the best is yet to come? I'd love to see her go "Carrie in the Workroom" on all these bitches.

She's definitely my favorite, too. I especially love that her name is one letter away from Pancake.

Just watched and I'm a little afraid to look at the episode thread. Kate got absolutely hammered by the edit this time, and I knew exactly why: to make us feel OK that she was auf'd. I think I've watched too much reality TV, I can read the edit too well.

It's bullshit that Kate is gone, but hey, it means I can stop watching the season now, just like I stopped watching when Shirin was sent home.

when Shirin was sent home.

Ugh, don't remind me. S6 had one of the worst elimination orders ever.

From a design/brief standpoint, I think Kate's auf is defensible. I just don't understand the need for a double elimination, especially since she's been pretty consistent. Say that the design is at fault and axe Kate, or complain that Tu isn't asserting himself and axe him. Why both?

Anyway, my issue isn't that a slew of less talented designers outlasted her like with Shirin, but moreso that I just don't particularly like any of these bitches. I need to stop having favorites, because I've already cursed Joe and Kate.

Kate's dresses looked nice, but also a little bit dated sometimes. And I actually think that I would hate her in real life. She was so dishonest.

For one, I have an issue with people who say "I want to be friends with everyone." Nobody is friends with eveyone. You can be nice to everyone, you can try to work with everyone, but you can't be friends with everyone, and if someone doesn't want to be your friend, you should accept that. Some personalities just don't mesh well, and not wanting to be someones friend doesn't necessarily translate into "mean girl".

Two, I think she was a big hypocrit by complaining that the other designers didn't really hear her out and then choosing Tu mostly because she was able to roll over him and do whatever she wants. She might have been nice to Tu on the runway, but she didn't respect him at all.

But I have given up a long time ago to judge who should go based on how much I like a designer. The editing can be very misleading, either way. From a design point of view, I wouldn't have minded to see a little bit more from both designers, but I also don't think that they were winning material.

It's not like there are 5,000 people there. You can absolutely be friends with 15 or so other people. Maybe closer to some than others, but I don't see anything wrong with wanting to be friends with the people around you. Didn't really see her trying to force her friendship on the unwilling, either.

I actually really disliked Kate. More so than anyone on this season so far. While I don't understand the need for a double elimination the week of the Duck Tape challenge, I was glad she was sent home for that dress, esp. in light of the narrow-viewed comments she had re: the other designs and what girls at prom wear. She had her nice moments, but I thought she was quite behind-your-back bitchy in a way that offended me more than anything Michelle has done (whom I know is disliked by many but, for some reason, I don't mind her as much). I saw some other vids revealing her thinking process through some of the challenges, such as the Heidi commercial look challenge (and I LOVED that dress, btw). While this is a competition and strategy is important, those behind-the-scenes glimpses just painted her in a very disingenuous light. She was very broken up about her auf though, so I was sad for her. A mixture of slightly satisfied and sad.

I guess it's because Michelle is for one honest, and two very much spot on and only comments related to issues which might arise working together (different styles or methods which don't really mesh), and three leaves her issues out of the workroom. Kate was had this "nice girl" act I didn't really buy (especially since she was very pipolar about it, one moment she was all "I'll do everything to win" and the next she was all sweet. I think most what she did was part of some kind of strategy. While Michelle just is the way she is. You might like it or not, but what you see is what you get.
