I'm going to hold my judgements on Kellie's dancing but I think she maybe more along the lines of Joanna & Shannon Elizabeth (two of his weaker star pairings imo). With that said she's a lock to make into the top 6!

Derek said in one of those interviews that he saw within their first 2 rehearsals that she has natural movement and hyperextended legs like what Brooke had. I think her being a singer and a former cheerleader could help her.

If anyone can turn her into a dancer, Derek can. I mean he got Joanna to the semis and somehow got Ricki Lake to the finals.

The drummer for country music star Kellie Pickler was in serious condition on Sunday as one of five people hospitalized in two crashes where six others died.

The collisions happened within minutes at the same spot on Interstate 65 in central Kentucky.

Pickler's manager Larry Fitzgerald said 36-year-old Gregg Lohman of Goodlettsville, Tennessee, suffered serious injuries in the wreck on Saturday. He remained in serious condition at University of Louisville Hospital.

I was tempted to post on the show's thread but I really only had one thing to say.

I know a bit about Kellie so really this is my first real exposure to her. I just wanted to say DAYAM! She seems very nice and very real and I know she has a huge capacity for empathy (hence the hair, though I do like short hair anyway). But she did so well in her dance. She can REALLY move and move her body elegantly and in a very sexy way. She's gorgeous and has an amazing body. Unbelievable proportions. I think she was underscored last night and believe she should make it through to the finals.

I never really cared for Pickler during her AI season. I thought she played the country bumpkin card too hard. But after AI, her true personality shined, and I really began to like her. Her last album, 100 Proof, may be one of the most underrated albums in recent years that I can remember. It was such a masterpiece and I felt bad for her that it didn't go anywhere.

So it's nice to see Kellie again on TV. I'm rooting for her to win this thing, and with Derek, she's at least guaranteed to go far. And she's the first AI'er to go on DWTS too! Wonder why it took so long for DWTS to dip into the AI pool of "stars".

She has been amazing both weeks. They are underscoring her. Her movements are so elegant and natural. So far Derek has used her skills and choreographed to her strengths.

And I agree, 100 Proof was one of the best albums in recent years. Her record company did not support her.

Kellie Pickler, what a nice surprise, but personality and dance skills. Tonight the dance was a little weird to me (I guess I'm someone Derek would describe as "doesn't get it") but it was cool and Kelly did a nice job with it.

I've got to confess - I was kind of meh on Kellie Pickler doing the show - I remember her hillbilly act on AI and it got old fast. But I really like her. She's funny without going Hee-Haw and has a nice light chemistry with Derek. And man, can she dance! It's hard to believe that she hasn't had extensive dance training with that flexibility, timing, and extensions. I'm going to be very disappointed if she doesn't make the finals.

I love how fearless she is.

I was one of those people that wanted Kellie voted off AI after I got tired of the calamari schtick. I grew to appreciate her once she was off the show, so I was already aware with how much she had matured and was hoping people would see that and give her a chance. What I didn't know was how much of a natural born dancer she is. When I saw her pre-season rehearsal footage I knew we were in for a treat. Her extensions and flexed feet last night were insane. I just hope Derek doesn't overdo it with choreographing it into every routine. That drives me crazy on SYTYCD when the Contemporary girls do one too many HMV's just because they can. My only criticism I have of her is that she sometimes has this Kewpie doll and faraway look on her face at times. It's like a perma grin.

I'm really excited to see Kellie do an AT and Samba. I really hope she makes it to the finale along with Zendaya and Jacoby or Andy.

I know this is way late but I just started reading this thread since she's doing so awesome. And I like the Pickle, liked her well enough during her season on AI too, though she had moments of being a little grating. However, the main point of this post is to respond to the first comment of this thread.

Again, I like Pickler but this comment really, really confuses me. I guess the names Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood don't mean a thing?

Two (and, with Jennifer Hudson and that one on that crappy NBC show, so four) out of how many females on the show makes for a pretty small fraction.

It was more a jab on the lack of AI's success rate and not herself. Sorry if it misled anybody.

I like her and for the first time in years and years am rooting for a Derek partnership, which takes some doing considering a win would give him four trophies.

BUT - although they delivered that "contemporary jazz" thing just fine, I would like Derek to realize Kellie isn't Johanna Krupa. What Derek did with Johanna - turning her into a sort of mechanical doll/bot, worked out well. Johanna did it well and it finessed Johanna's lack of grace.

Turning Kellie into any kind of dance bot is a waste. I don't want Derek to do his svengali thing with a girl who can actually dance. Yes she can hit great lines and sell "a" move, but I want to see her freaking dance.

I'm enjoying her and as I was watching her dance from Monday night, it occurred to me that she should make a fitness video. I think she'd be great! She definitely has the personality and body for it-- and the moves!

Her technique is just amazing, I think she has the potential to become one of the best dancers ever on this show. I hope Derek gives her some side by side parts in the Jive. I understand why he didn't do that with Ricki or Maria but Kellie can definitely pull it off. And I'd like to see her finally do a Ballroom routine.

She can definitely pull it off just as amazingly as Zendaya; but choreographing a Latin routine is beneath Derek. He's been quoted on that. We'll see I guess.

She's always a good guest on the Ellen DeGeneres show. She has a great personality. Even though she comes across as a "country bumpkin," I think she's a very smart young woman. And she can dance!! I hope that she & Derek don't peak too soon on DWTS. We've seen that happen in the past. IIRC, that's what happened with Ricki Lake (at least I remember somebody saying something to that effect.)

Maria was stiff as a board and there just wasn't anything exciting about Ricki's movement. Kellie is twice as good as both of them combined.
