It was just announced that Food Network Canada is casting for a Canadian version of Chopped.

CANADA TO GET ‘CHOPPED’

* Shaw Media Partners with Paperny Entertainment to Produce First Canadian Edition of Hit US Series
* National Casting Call Opens Today
* Series to Premiere in Winter 2014 on Food Network Canada

We'll have to wait 6 months or so before we can watch it, but I'm not that surprised we're getting one. It's seems like a cheap series to produce overall, and it is popular.

I'd wonder what sort of Canadian basket ingredients we might see; but a lot of them have shown up in the US chopped already. (I've seen Fiddleheads at least twice already for example. :) )

I'm guessing we'll see some seal.

Yeah, Fiddleheads are pretty international, given their wide use from medieval times in France, as well as them being used in Korea (if you've ever had bibimbap you've had Fiddleheads in a Korean dish), Japan and Indonesia, and them also being a staple in New England.

Chopped tends to often go for jokey baskets. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if they have baskets where you have to combine Kraft Dinner, salmon jerky, and Maple syrup into a dish.

I'm guessing we'll see some seal.

My guess is even sooner... Caribou. With saskatoon berries and Montreal bagels the contestants wind up cutting up into croutons or crostini.
