From Zap2it:

The designers must create garments for Heidi Klum to wear for the launch of her new fragrance.

Everytime they said "press events" - I heard "precedents" - which made no sense. (ooh, I rhymed!)

There was a lot on the runway that I could see Heidi wearing. But Matt, Ben, Cindy and the ruffle pooper were soo bad! Benjamin gave his 90 pound model rolls of back fat!

Tim, please stop emphasizing "you have one day" for the challenge. It's always one freaking day! Emphasize when they have more than that! (IF they ever get more than that!)

Zac, Benjamin didn't make an excuse. He said he had time management issues. He took responsibility. An excuse would be "there wasn't enough time!"

Daniel is such a sweet soul.

Was that an episode of a design competition, or a group therapy session? They even came up with "Benjamin's Theme" music. I felt like quoting Nina when S2 Andrae had his famous meltdown: "I don't need to hear all this!"

Anyway, I thought Benjamin clearly deserved to be aufed. Heidi could have at least appeared in public in Cindy's dress. I really didn't like Patricia's at all, despite the homemade textile.

I loved Kate/Layana's dress. It's been a while since I had a "Wow!" moment on PR. Thanks.

I don't like that someone who designed for a part of the challenge won for a different part, but I think Heidi wanted something more flattering and didn't have a skirt made of cutouts hanging over pure flesh toned sheer.

Loved the Corset dress... but it made the model look SCARY stick thin. It'll be great on Heidi, though, who has more to her.

Ummm, Mr. Posen... Don't comment on Heidi's age and things being better for a younger celebrity, if you want to stay on the show.

Kate and Layana's dress was one of the prettiest I've ever seen on PR and it was perfect for the challenge. Well-deserved win. I'm glad Kate stuck to her guns about using the pink fabric because I don't think the gold would have looked as good.

Zac, Benjamin didn't make an excuse. He said he had time management issues. He took responsibility. An excuse would be "there wasn't enough time!"

That's exactly what I thought! It wasn't an excuse. It was the reason he screwed up. His sketch was very pretty but the result was a disaster.

I loved Patricia's dress. She's kind of annoying but she certainly does things we've never seen before.

I liked Daniel's dress so much better than the winning dress, which I thought just looked cheap. I even liked Patricia's dress and could see Heidi wearing it.

I'm horrible at fashion, though, because I also liked Cindy's dress and didn't understand how hers was worse than Benjamin's. His dress was really bad.

I know they say they don't factor in past performance, but they could only auf Cindy before Benjamin's hot mess based on the number of times she's been in the bottom three. Everything about Benjamin's was horrible, at least Cindy's was passable.

That was my favorite part of the whole episode.

I understand why Cindy left. It was her third time in the bottom three. Even so, I thought Benjamin deserved to be sent far, far away (possibly farther than home) for that dress. It was awful. When the model came out for the critique, I thought the bands looked more squished together than they had been on the runway, like maybe the top ones were falling down, and the bottom ones were sliding up. I really thought it was going to fall off her chest.

Which brings me to another thing. Benjamin told the judges the top was boned, didn't he? But his voiceover when the model was on the runway said something about being afraid it wouldn't stay up because there was no structure in it. I don't know if he just lied to the judges, or if I misunderstood something.

I liked Cindy's dress, although I thought the fit could be better. I thought the pink with gold shimmer would look good in photos. Not at a press thing, but in the campaign, where they'd airbrush out anything bad anyway. (I did grow up in the 80s, though, so I might have bad taste for current fashions.)

I also liked Daniel's dress, but didn't think it was right for a press event just because it was long. A press event calls for a short dress, I think.

Kate/Layana's dress was the winner for me, Patricia a close second. I knew Cindy was gone when she piked that fabric. Shantung is prom or bridesmaid, not sexy model. Cindy can sew, but her designs did read old and out of style and her fabric choices were always bad. As awful as Ben's dress was, I understand the auf.

When someone said Benjamin's model looked shipwrecked, I realized why-his dress was a poor knockoff of the dress that Sebastian and Scuttle made for the Little Mermaid when she got legs.

Lol, Heidi is a little picky?

Sexy not slutty? Heidi, do you look in a mirror? What was that skirt...that was a new look.
I do like it when they create for her, as long as it is not gym clothes.

As far as the looks

Daniel's was pretty, not super exciting, but that mustache. E gads. I was surprised he won as well. Oh more tears.
Joseph and Amanda, eh
I loved the Kate and Lanaya (?) dress/gown and it is a Heidi dress at her best. Glad they won, although I am not much for tears, lol.
Yikes, who had the black bushy tail? That one was not even good from the front.
I did not like Patricia's, but it must be me, since they always do.

Michele's was okay, not Heidi to me.
Oh dear, Matthew, yikes, yes it was trashy.
Samantha' s came out a bit weird
Benjamin did not execute well at all
Tu's was kind of cool, though I do not like the long/short look, am very tired of it.
Cindy, oh Cindy, that fabric looked dreadful. You just cannot be in the bottom every week. She had to go.

Kristin was adorable to me. I loved her reaction to Matthew's dress. (But is her face "different"?)
Nina was a tough one today...ship-wrecked, lol. Zac was a little tougher too, love him. Ha, ha, he zinged Heidi on age.

I still dislike this team thing intensely.

Layana strikes me as emotionally over the top. I don't know if she's sincere or not, but can not stand to watch it. She couldn't get her mouth open fast enough to say fifty-fifty when asked who should win if their dress won. I don't think Cindy should have went. It should have been Benjamin. Hers was at least wearable, sort of. I haven't liked anything the girl from Portland has made. Sorry, I can't remember her name. She has a lot of confidence, but I see it as misplaced. ymmv

OMG that is completely the same dress. Who knew that the fish and crab had so much style and Benjamin so little.

My take on why Cindy was auffed is that she is a seamstress and not a designer. Also even if you can't design on this show, you can stay for a while if your clothes are flawless. Cindy's fabric was terrible and the dress gapped in the back and was far from flawless.

I thought Daniel's dress was very boring. I like Daniel though. I wonder why the guy who was so freaked out about making a dress made a dress. He could have done a short outfit or something. If nothing else, it would have stood out. I guess I just wasn't wowed at all this time. They need to pick better guest judges as well. At least, make them designers or editors or something related to the fashion industry.

And so the judging b.s. begins.

Ben sent out an awful trainwreck of a dress ("the worst thing" Nina has seen), lied to the judges (yes, auntlada, you are correct) about the boning, which Zack called him on in the judges' discussion - and, he didn't even finish the damn thing himself! He had everyone on his team, including poor Cindy, helping him wrap those ridiculous straps around the model. And yet the judges deemed him worthy of staying? Really??? And then he didn't even have the grace to acknowledge Cindy before leaving the runway. Cindy's dress was really not that bad - the way they were going on about how awful it was made the judges sound insane. And the fact that they picked Ben to stay over Cindy made them look insane. I don't care what Ben's f---ing sob story is - he's an asshole, and he can't leave soon enough for me.

At least I did really like the winning dress from Kate and Layana, but I thought Patricia's should have been the second winner. I really wasn't crazy about Daniel's and I thought it was kind of bogus that Heidi picked it for the press event even though it was conceived for the ad campaign (Patricia's looked like it would be a lot more comfortable to wear at a press event). Daniel's personality rubs me the wrong way - his cuddly teddy bear act is kind of overbearing, and his therapy-session-worthy self-affirmations at the end tonight made me cringe a little. When he mentioned being excited that Heidi was going to wear his dress, I wanted to yell at the screen "Check in with us again after you see how she 'tweaks' it!"

I don't think Heidi wears too many loose silhouettes, a la Patricia's offering. Maybe if it was super short...

I am over Daniel's emotions already too.
And Benjamin-it should have been a double elimination tonight. Best thing for everybody. These judges were never going to say a kind word to Cindy and he just plain deserved to go.

Kate and Layana's dress was stunning. I couldn't stop looking at it. I liked Daniel's dress but didn't love it, unlike his previous work, and I didn't think he should have won over Patricia, whose dress was really interesting (though not very Heidi, I guess). Stanley's looked good to me, too, even if the judges thought it had too much going on. I was surprised both teams seemed to think it was a tight race between them, because the Dream Team had so much fug going on.

And Benjamin-it should have been a double elimination tonight. Best thing for everybody. These judges were never going to say a kind word to Cindy and he just plain deserved to go.

Yes, that would have been a perfect outcome. Benjamin's dress was one of the worst things I've seen on PR in years, and I'm really not sure how they can justify keeping him. But Cindy was cannon fodder from the beginning, and the only surprise about her aufing is that she lasted as long as she did.

Daniel's dress was pretty but didn't seem to fit the challenge. Branding is everything when you are launching a new product and his dress didn't fit the look of the perfume. I was surprised that more people didn't go with a short edgy cocktail dress with strips across the dress to mimic the bottle.

Was not surprised but was annoyed that Cindy was let go. Her dress wasn't great but it was better then several of the other dresses and I thought at least the pink with gold shimmer would go well with the perfume bottle. I think she was aufed because Heidi and the rest of Cindy's team cannot stand it when an older woman is a contestant. They don't seem to have the same problem with men. Benjamin's dress was terrible and he lied to the judges about the non-existent boning.

Tu and Samantha need to get off that sinking ship. They are both totally wasted on Nightmare Team. If they were on the other team their dresses could have been in the top 3. Ben's dress was indefensible, but Cindy has been in the bottom every single week, so I don't really have a problem with her going.

The winning dress was spectacular. Loved the corset look and how the bottom of it looked like garters. Daniel's was a close 2nd. It looks like I may be the only one, but I don't understand all the love Patricia is getting. Yes, her leatherwork is innovative and remarkable given the time constraint, but the results look kind of blah for me. The windowpane dress from the first challenge was fine, but boring and I didn't get why it was in the top. This week's dress looked sloppy to me, with all the leather squares hanging loose and the weird hemline that hung too low past the squares. If the skirt and squares were the same length maybe I would like it more, but I really hated the pink "vest" in the front. The back was nice, but again ruined by the mismatched hemlines. I kept thinking it would look more "finished" if the squares were all sewn down against the lining fabric instead of hanging loose.

Ben sends down a sack tied with leather strips that aren't even sewn on and he gets to stay? Bull. He should have been sent home last week too.

Daniel's dress was bland and something that's been seen a hundred times. Patricia actually created her own textile. But I shouldn't be surprised since Heidi really has terrible taste.

On a shallow note, who the hell gets tattoos of giant spots? What is that even supposed to be?

Boy, Keeping it Real is going to be pretty mad when the Dream Team gets so whittled down that Heidi decides to redistribute the teams. Dream Team just sucks.

Once again, I hope I got the names right

Keeping It Real
Daniel-liked it, sexy but classy, deserved the win
Patircia-didn’t like the gold dangles, but I liked the pink squares. Needed to be finished better.
Joseph & Amanda-liked it, didn’t love it.
Richard-disco! LOL at him describing it as an exotic chicken
Layana & Kate-didn’t like the pink corset thing, but of course Heidi would
Stanley-hated the top

Dream Team
Michelle-model looked pregnant
Matthew-slutty looking which is usually what Heidi likes (which I think is why he wasn’t eliminated), but I didn’t
Cindy-the fabric looked cheap, it was only a matter of time before she was gone, she was in over her head.
Samantha-looked poorly constructed
Benjamin-badly fitted & kind of cheap looking. The model is lucky it stayed up.

I was thinking that I liked Cindy's dress, but that is because it really looks like dresses I dreamt of buying in 1998. Kristin Davis was so exact with the fifteen years. And that isn't a style coming back. I think it looked better on the red haired model than it would on anyone else. On a blonde it would have been particularly bad.
I felt like Team KIR had the four best looks. Portlandia is really dreaming that she would have been Top 3 so often.
I am liking the team format. Everyone seems to appreciate each other at a different level and I see some learning and more thoughtfulness.

Oh boy, I thought for sure that the top of Benjamin's gown (if it can even be called a gown!) was going to roll down. I wonder if it actually did and it had to be edited out! That was hideous, imho - I too thought there should have been a double elimination. And thank goodness I was not the only one who thought Michelle's dress made that model look pregnant. It was very badly fitted! It made her belly look huge - crazy. It did not fit well in the back either. I know there is so little time to do this, but that was just really bad.

Okay, I like Patricia, and I love how she creates fabrics, but ... I think the garment beneath her textiles is suffering. Too simplistic-looking, both last week and this. Mind you, I am NOT a seamstress by any means, but I do think I can tell when something doesn't look good.

Gotta LOL at the comments about Heidi liking the slutty look - she does! And what a surprise that she did not like that dominatrix look. I think the only reason she didn't is because the look was for the introduction of the perfume. Loved Nina cracking the whip! LMAO!!

Pancake went just a tad overboard - hey, don't forget, it wasn't all you; Layana was responsible for 50 percent; she deferred to you for the win.

I have to re-watch, at least the beginning, because I missed Swatch's appearance at Mood! :(

This is perfect.

I didn't think Cindy's dress was awful, or rather, it didn't deserve the boot over Benjamin's. She seemed like a sweet lady and like she had a lot of potential and I was rooting for her as we don't usually see the older contestants make it too far.

I find Benjamin to be obnoxious, probably because he's a member of the "I'm going to tell you how good and experienced I am and proceed to go on a streak of not proving it to you" club. At the same time, I feel this bit of sympathy for him and I can't figure out why.

<3 Daniel.

Regarding the winners, I agree completely with their decisions. I was really hoping we'd get a great dress that was primarily pink, but I liked both winning dresses and their respective color combinations.

As far as Patricia is concerned, I loved her dress in Week 1 but I was appalled to see her look chosen as one of the top 3 tonight. Yes, it was one of the more interesting things to look at but interesting doesn't equal good by far, even in the world of fashion. I actually liked the possibility of her textile a lot more before she had treated it and it was shown to us on the muslin. I may need to see pictures of it tomorrow to try to reevaluate but for now I'm baffled.

But Cindy was cannon fodder from the beginning

This is a perfect assessment of her role. I hate that they brought in an older woman of moderate talent just for the sake of having someone to punch around. It's cruel. I'd prefer that we have only highly qualified designers, like the old days of PR.

With more time, Patricia's dress could have been stunning. It was a bit shapeless and long and the pink and gold squares didn't look integrated. I appreciated the effort she made. Patricia probably babbles because she's nervous.

I liked the winning design but felt I've seen it a million times. But it's definitely a "Heidi" look.

I wish they'd get rid of the sob stories, quivering confessionals and so on. There's so much of it in reality TV that it's become banal.

I'm shocked - shocked I tell you! - that Zac made the comment about Heidi's age. She's clearly trying to convince the world that she's still beautiful and sexy, but he must have been caught up in the moment and had a sensitivity blackout.
