Our token generic dating couple. They will probably win. Bright side, they are the only 'dating' team this season. That's got to be a first.

John looks a lot like TAR15's Cheyne! And with lighter hair, Jessica could almost look like Meghan.

Didn't annoy me too much tonight, and good on them for winning the leg.

Preview for next week with Dave & Connor doesn't make them look all that good, though.

Anyone else notice that Jessica sounds a lot like Rachel (of the volleyball girls) from TAR17?

That was absolutely the STUPIDEST bit of strategizing I have ever seen in all 22 seasons of the Race. Oy vey is right. There were so many points that they could have tossed down that Express Pass, right up to the point where John was literally standing next to the second-to-last guy with a surfboard, and he didn't do it. The logic behind it all is just baffling.

I think he is one of those nice "golly" people who is almost too nice to be true and/or just plain stupid. LOL!! If it wasn't bad enough to use the express pass between the detours it was doubly stupid not to use it looking for the surfboard while they knew only they and another team were left. He may have gotten over it the minute he did it but I'm not so sure Jessica was then or now. That had to be the stupidest moves ever on The Amazing Race. I know there aren't hash tags in TWOP's but what he did equals #EPIC FAIL!!!!!

It disturbed me that the time Jessica finally got to speak a fair bit, it's to uselessly try to get her boyfriend to pull his head out of his ass and she still had to hear him yap about having to approach everything logically. Usually, I wait until the interviews to get things cleared up, but that doesn't seem like a loving relationship to me.

So, how does John spin this or blame in the exit interview? Will we get "production interfered" or "technical difficulties"?

She's going to dump that tool.

Especially after seeing this episode with Phil shrugging at this guy's stupidity.

He has kind of a weird affect. Not as flamboyant as the YouTube guy but still out there.

Could Jessica have taken the Express Pass out of his backpack, or wherever it was, and turned it in on her own?

I don't think John understands how TAR works. Even Phil, who has seen just about everything, was dumbfounded by John. Well, at least they gave the extra Express Pass to Dave & Connor.

Probably not during the roadblock since she wasn't the one doing the task. But I'd assume she could have during the detour.

I had the feeling he thought as long as he had the Express Pass, they couldn't eliminate his team. Not sure when the reality set in (if it did), but he seemed convinced that just having it ensured their staying in the race.

I hope she dumped his butt on the ride to Sequesterville.

John's smiling was weird, as if he thought he was auditioning for something. I haven't seen that many teeth since the last time I saw a Julia Roberts movie.

I hope a good interview pops up this week, because he acted like he was on something, though to be fair he might just act like that when he's sleep-deprived.

Yeah, the smile was very creepy.

That and when he said to her that he had to go down to the beach to look at the surfboards there. Very creepy.

I have to give her credit. I could just about see the steam coming out of her ears, but she held it together. Even did that crazy-exhausting detour with the river silt after he couldn't figure out the fruit detour.

Also, she couldn't have used the Express Pass if he didn't want to, isn't it a team race?

There was no strategy at all - besides how can I lose? I guess this is the best example of Amazing Race Fatigue ever?

I had no firm opinion about them at the beginning - they seemed fine, but not particularly interesting - but not only did he reveal himself to be a self-important tool in this leg, his constant self-narration - even when there was no one but the camera crew listening - about logic and strategy became increasingly creepy.

By the end, and his 'no regrets' outro, he made me cringe. I do hope Jessica dumped him, because he strikes me as so tightly wound that if/when he snaps... I hope she's nowhere near him.

Quite the healthy ego on John. He's definitely one of those people who needs to be right all the time, absolutely cannot accept blame for anything, and tries to justify everything he does, even if he's clearly in the wrong and knows it. I feel a bit bad for Jessica because I know she couldn't talk any ounce of logic through that thick neanderthal skull of his, but I still can't say I'm sorry to see this team go.

And, per the interview they seem completely fine how it turned out. In that case they are both dumb. Him for not giving up earlier & meeting her to use the express pass & her for still dating him doing what I said he did. LOL!!! Although, if they are fine with it & are still together I guess they are bigger people than me. Personaly, would feel like the biggest ass!

I wasn't able to figure out which sticker it was. ... So I thought I could run up where Phil was and check out the boards that have been checked in.

What a dumbass, why on earth would he think that he would be able to do that?

Now that the show has aired, you have to wonder if things will change. I mean, I know things are edited to show the worse, make some teams look like idiots, but, when you are 'running' this show, I can really see how things can get 'confused' or you forget those LITTLE details that happened-i.e. Jessica asking John a number of times during that fruit detour whether they should use the EXPRESS PASS?

Unfortunately, reading on them, listening to them, and I do realize, it is not a lot, it really sounds like he is really dominate over her, and no matter what she says or things, she will be #2 in the relationship.

From The Cast site on Amazing Race he says the following:
'Biggest challenge you and your teammate will face on The Race together: Jessica’s mumbling and me not being able to understand what she’s saying!
Pet peeve about your teammate: Sometimes Jess tunes me out when I’m telling an awesome story.'
Jessica says to the questions:'Biggest challenge you and your teammate will face on The Race together: John tells a lot of stories (multiple times) and speaks very slowly. I sometimes just talk over him or make him get to the '.

Which both just show what an 'A' he is and that he does not listen to anyone but himself, but, we all got that when going to the detour him telling us that 'they were both detail orientated, but he was better'. Which he showed us by not listening to Jessica when she told him to look at the other team's who got the 'yes' and the sample. Either that, or he needed glasses badly. This detour was NOT HARD, it was just taking the time and making LOOK THE SAME. Theirs was pathetic.

I also do not get Mr. Detail Orientated, when he kept saying the Roller Derby team was behind them. He was keeping time, so, he could not add the HOURS they took doing the fruit, the time, whatever it was to get to the steam, etc.? (Could they ask if anyone was there before them?). I would not have taken the chance and they still had a chance at the surf shop, but both their egos thought they were going to have a 'surfing challenge'. I have never seen a surfing challenge on AR, and probably never will. Surfing is an extreme sport-not everyone would be able to do it, and it was not a detour. Mr. and his Ms Detail Orientated have/had NO COMMON SENSE. Skydiving ALONE, Skiing, etc, not ever going to be challenges..

Even worse, she's making it sound like they both didn't want to use the EP when in reality, it was just him.

With dating couples on the Race that have a domineering man and a wiser woman who unfortunately takes a back seat, it's like the Stockholm Syndrome. Even though the dysfunction is on full display, it seems like these couples are unusually more deeply involved post-Race.

The repeated references to assuming the Roller Derby Moms were behind them are emblematic of their strategic problem. They shouldn't assume a best case scenario when deciding when to use the Express Pass. The point of it was to guard against a worst case scenario. Based on the available evidence, assuming Roller Derby hadn't been to the river Detour was a very risky assumption. Jessica and John had wasted time hanging in the backyard. They admitted that they took a lot of time at the fruit task. Then, they switched Detours. Those are three things that take time. They should have realized being passed was a reasonable possibility, not a remote one.

The dumb thing about assuming the Roller Derby team was behind them was that all they had to was check if another team had dumped mud in the bucket.

In their slight defense the bucket was empty and they stated that there was no sign that any other teams had been there, so it appears the production staff straightened things up. Now why they didn't ask any of the people there if they had seen a team matching their description is beyond me.

Especially since they did think to ask the man in the wrong backyard about other racers being there before them.
