So in 2x12 we got introduced to a mysterious stranger from the outside. What does this mean for the rest of Storybrooke? Is he really an innocent outsider or is he hiding something? I'm very curious as to what Greg's trip into Storybrooke will mean and what implications it will have for the future of their small, magical town.

I guess we don't know anything at this moment, but my first impression is he seems like those annoying nosy reporter type characters who appear on sci-fi shows and persistently pursues annoyingly. If he does snoop, here's hoping he spies Cora with his little eye and she finishes him off.

When they said he tweeted pictures of his food, I thought maybe he was a food critic. And then pics of places he's been so maybe he does work in the tourism industry.

Interesting to note that every number in his call history was from or to Pennsylvania. Also, the first picture on his phone when Emma is scrolling is Greg chilling with a statue. Not sure if it's supposed to be a hidden clue, but I doubt it. I can't tell who the statue is supposed to be.
I have this feeling that Greg is going to check in at Granny's B&B and try to capture some magical action on camera. He can't exactly go to anyone outside of Storybrooke right now without proof.
While it's definitely possible Greg isn't from FTL in anyway, I still have a suspicion "HER" is left ambiguous because it's a name we would recognize, either from the show or a famous story.

I've been writing on my Tumblr various theories I have regarding Greg. From what I can glean from all the information provided, if he is a FTL character, he's probably either Dr. Jekyll or the Wizard of Oz. Otherwise, he's probably just an average guy from the outside world and the mysterious "HER" is his link to FTL. "HER," in this case, being either an acronym or an anonymous pronoun. Also, while the pet name "honey" implies a romantic relationship, the term could still be platonic (although doubtful). Although, if "HER" does represent the gendered pronoun, what kind of guy puts his wife/girlfriend/whatever in as "HER"? And, in this case, surely it is left unclear who HER is because the audience would recognize the name. If HER is an acronym, I sincerely hope "honey" is a man. That would be awesome. Any guesses as to a FTL character with the initials HER?
Reasons to suggest he's Jekyll:
- Gregor Mendel is a scientist who studied plants
- Gertrude Jekyll was the sister of a childhood friend of Robert Louis Stevenson. Jekyll is a famous botanist and horticulturist
- Henry lampshading the fact that other fictional characters can show up at the same time Greg showed up
- Mendelian genetics is about dominant/recessive traits; Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde is about the duality of human nature (good/bad; dominant/recessive) and one side taking over
- His appearance is noted in a science-themed episode
- His casting call name was Barrett which means "quarrelsome," "dispute," or "deceitful," which could implication Jekyll/Hyde
- His casting call made note that he is "kind and smart" but has a "very dark side" (duality)
Reasons to suggest he's Oz:
- License plate 2KFL138 (Took Flight '38)
- Harry Kellar was a famous magician and the direct inspiration for Oz. Kellar is from Erie, Pennsylvania.
- The writers have said Oz will come into the picture
- It wouldn't be hard for Oz to get into our world
- Barrett means "deceitful"; Oz was a deceitful wizard who usurped the throne from princess Ozma
- Oz was "kind and smart," but also had a "dark side"
- The name Greg means "watchful"
And, of course, he could be no one at all. He seemed kind of surprised by magic in the episode, and neither Jekyll or Oz would really be all that shocked. Unless his alarm was due to the fact that he found "other" people who practice magic (like himself and HER).
Another possibility is that Greg could be Jekyll or Oz but *before* their respective stories took place. Maybe he gets sent back in time when traversing to FTL just like Baelfire was sent forward in time?
I dunno, I have a lot of theories. My brain can't help but find bizarre (and most likely meaningless) connections.

Oh man, I hadn't read the Oz theory, that's fascinating. Or since Gregor Mendel worked with pea plants, that could make him... um... Pea-ter Pan? And of course, honey is naturally antibacterial, so that's a point in the Dr. Jekyll side... ok am I reaching too far now? Lol.
No, I think you've got some good stuff here. Hmm.

Peter Pan could be a possibility too -- especially with the 2kfl138 (took flight) license plate and the fact that the first thing he did when he came to Storybrooke was hit Capt. Hook, which would be hilarious.
I read another theory somewhere that he could be Grendel (Greg + Mendel = Grendel) and HER could be Grendel's mother, but then why would he call her honey? And if he *is* Grendel, Storybrooke is screwed.

We don't know for sure if the person who Greg called was the 'HER' on his phone or the person he was calling honey. It is implied, but it's far from certain and could very well be intentional misdirection.
I'm thinking either Peter Pan.. or perhaps one of Ursula's minions. I know they want to introduce 'The Little Mermaid' and they have said it won't be this season, but I don't always trust what they say. Oz would be interesting too.

If Greg is Peter maybe "Her" is wendy or a descendant thereof?

Well, after last night's episode, I think we can officially brand Greg/Owen as a bad guy, regardless of the tragic backstory. And he isn't a fairy tale character either (although Tamara might still be).
So he and Tamara are both using Neal to get to Storybrooke, and neither of them apparently have any qualms about hurting innocent people. Bleh. Those two deserve each other.

I'm trying to figure out what this guys end-game is. He went from loving son trying to find his dad, to some slimy guy with his scheming girlfriend who is trying to expose magic. My question is why, whats in it for him. I do think he needs to keep an eye on Tamara, I think she has more up her sleeve than he is aware of.

Yeah, I think Owen is being played by Tamara. I think he wants to find his dad (or at least find out what happened to his dad), and bonus points if he can screw over Regina in the process. I don't think he has any true idea as to what Tamara's game is.

One thing we don't know about Owen is if he realizes what Regina is/what she has done. As far as we know.. he could believe everyone in the town was a part of the abduction of his father & that everyone in the town is equally evil/to blame for what happened. I also tend to believe Tamara is playing Owen.

He may be Tamara's dupe, but he obviously knows that she using Neal and has no problems sleeping with her behind his back. Other men have done that (and far worse) when being led by an attractive woman, so I guess that's not a complete shock. But even if he blames everyone in Storybrooke for his father's disappearence or is getting played, I still don't trust him.
