The team implements a plan as Olivia begins a dangerous journey into the unknown; the team battles the Observers.

Damn you, John Noble.
At first, when Windmark was experiencing the nosebleeds and the echo effect, I thought it was just the way Michael's brain was reacting to being read. But then when it happened again, I knew Michael was just dicking with him.
Nice to Bolivia and Lincoln again. Bolivia's definitely mellowed over the years. Age and experience has a way of diluting the swagger.
If Windmark was as smart as he thinks he is, he would have just wired up Broyles' car and followed him to the gang, but confronting him perked Broyles' radar and foiled that plan.
I loved that they chose only the grossest Fringe events to use on the Observers.
OK, that ending might have been perfect.

Oh, ugly crying here, folks. Ugly crying. Started during Peter and Walter's emotional scene earlier, straightened up a little and then from Peter's soundless "I love you, Dad" to the end, just sobbing. Perfect fucking ending. Best series finale I think I've ever seen. I'm going to be crying in a corner for awhile now.

ETA: So happy that Broyles lived! Where was the "I love you. . .forever"? Oh, I don't care. I loved it. And the best part is, the story isn't over! The Bishops live on! Peter and Olivia and Etta are 2015 and Walter is in the future. Poor September, though. I loved him. I love how the boy kept telling Olivia basically to be quiet and listen. I think that was the idea, anyway. So sad with him and the music box at the end. He did love his father.

Thank you, Fringe, for 5 amazing seasons.

So I figured that would happen (back to the day the observers appeared and Walter would die/disappear) except I was hoping that they would remember everything that happened. So am I to assume in the new timeline Walter died sometime in their past? So confused. At least JJ holding a little girl is adorable.

Otherwise, I enjoyed it, although I can't say I loved it.

Most heartbreakingly perfect ending I could have asked for.

Fringe, it's been a pleasure.

That was way more satisfying than I was expecting, and it's not like my expectations were low. So many perfectly-pitched character and relationship moments, but the story--though I'm sure the logic of it won't hold up to scrutiny--was also expertly paced and got me to suspend disbelief in the way I needed. And Olivia got to be the hero again, which, yes. Thank you, show, for that character, and for all the rest of them.

Olivia took quite a risk crossing over, not knowing if Olivia and/or Lincoln would still be at fringe division 21 years later. If they hadnt been there, she'd have been screwed. They looked great, especially fifty- something year old Olivia. Mature, stable, comfortable in her own skin.

I will miss you Fringe. You required a shit load of suspension of disbelief and I wasnt sure half the time what was going on, but thanks for not spoon feeding us. I loved your characters, and your writers took care of them and your actors made me believe.

Fathers and sons.....Walter and Peter, September and Michael. Touching stuff.

I gotta go back and watch the White Tulip episode.

"Dad"

Anyone notice differences in the often-dreamed scene with baby Emma this time through? (in "Liberty")

I was one of those who never thought Walter's "sacrifice" would mean that he would die :)

My second glyph didn't make sense so I must not have remembered them correctly :(

Wonderful final scene with the tulip.

I might've been quibbles with these episodes, I don't know, Peter mouthed "I love you, dad" and I started scream-sobbing.

Actually, I don't think I really had that much to quibble about. Maybe that we don't know what's this big plan the Head Observer In the Future was talking about? Does it matter?

I loved that Olivia got to kick all kinds of ass in the end, loved loved love LOVED the "It's a beautiful name - Astrid" moment (that one got me bawling as well). Liked that they took a second to acknowledge that Lincoln would have some sort of survivor's guilt on finding out what happened "back home." It was nice to see November one last time. And Broyles didn't die this time, guys! Can you believe it?

And Donald is dead and Walter will never see Peter again, nope, everything is horrible and I'm going back to the corner with prodigalchicken. I have tissues I can share.

Outside of a few character moments, consider me disappointed. Everything happened the way it was all telegraphed with no real surprises, along with an ending that essentially negated this entire last season. The final section of the episode (The wormhole, September dying, time being reset.) all seemed to to pass by in about thirty seconds, with the rest of the two hours being a slightly tedious preamble towards those thirty seconds.

I needed something that basically told us that something had changed.

Still, though. What a ride it's been.

Loved it and trust that we will figure out/learn why Michael allowed himself to be captured.
But am I the only one who, when Walter first told Peter that he (Walter) and the boy (Michael) would have to stay in the future because they would become a paradox, thought briefly he said, "a pair of ducks," even while knowing all about time travel paradoxes? I guess it didn't quite make sense to me in this case, and ducks sounded more plausible. You know. Like porcubats.

My second glyph didn't make sense so I must not have remembered them correctly :(

They were LOVED and CLOSE.

When September was killed I was one very sad shapeshifter.

I am also confused as to why Michael got off the train. I had been womdering if he had a plan in mind, but it seems not. In any case, the rescue was cool though I was biting my nails, hoping they wouldn't do anything bad to Olivia. Even better was the invasion with that Fringe arsenal.

I'm sad about Donald. I liked the thought of him exploring fatherhood. I wanted that for him.

While the very end was not surprising, it made me happy. I"ll miss this show so much.

One question, though: does the time reset not effect the other universe?

I thought it was a good finale. Not the best I've ever seen but a good one nonetheless.

It's a crime that John Noble never received any award recognition for his work on Fringe. He brought it here once again with more poignant work and his final scene is a great one. A television season without Walter Bishop in it is a sad one indeed.

It was nice to return to the Alt-Universe...I just hope for their sake some of the Observers didn't end up staying around. That could be a comic spinoff right there.

Michael Cervais was great once again as September. Good action scene at the end.

Farewell, Fringe. One of the best and most enjoyable shows on television, with consistenly great work done by John Noble.

Gene the cow made an appearance. Plus the whoe scene where Walter actually called Astrid , Astrid.

Loved the line where Windmark told Broyles that he did feel an emotion for humans and it was hate and Broyles said the feeling was mutual.

Great ending to the show.

This finale made me tear up several times. Was glad to get one last look at the alternate universe, see how those characters did, Olivia got the chance to avenge Etta, Walter saw Gene, and finally complemented Astrid on her name, and September got one last moment with his son.

I am glad the show got this form of closure.

I am not even going to pretend to understand the timey whimey aspect of it, but I am just going with everything up to 2015 happened exactly the same as before and then poof, the Observers blink out of existence or don't evolve in the same way. This means that September still interrupted Walternate back in 1985 because he hadn't been wiped out of existence until later on. Basically, I am using the Terminator-Kyle Reese is sent back in time by his best pal John Connor in order to impregnate John Connor's mother so John Conner can be born--rules. Yep, not even going to try to rationalize it in any other way. Love love love this show forever.

If the Observers never came, then Walter was never distracted from seeing that he had come up with a cure for his son, so he would never have come to our timeline and kidnapped that Peter, so the events of the series (including Peter and Olivia meeting and having Etta) never would have happened. Right?

okay, that kinda makes me want to cry.

The final section of the episode (The wormhole, September dying, time being reset.)

I overlooked it for the sake of sentiment but I was kinda cracking up because they were sure taking their sweet time after September got shot. Or maybe it was all supposed to take place very quickly but it was kinda slo-mo-y for the sake of the audience?

All the same, I'm gonna miss the show, and discussing it with you guys, so much.

I'm confused (about a lot really) about why September left the other Observer's place without the McGuffin, came back to the lab and told the team that somebody else would have to go and get the thing. Did the other Observer tell him that he would give it up but only to somebody else?

For all my problems, it was the character moments that just hit me like a fucking train. Walter telling Peter that he would never see him again, Walter and Astrid unearthing Gene, Peter's "I love you, Dad.", and of course Etta finally, finally running into Peter's arms. TEARS. EVERYWHERE. Give all the awards to John Noble already. He has been such a fierce heart for this show.

Very nice callbacks in the final two hours.

Michael playing "Greensleeves" for Donald/September was perfect, as was Olivia wiping out Windmark and shutting down all of New York City.

The best of all, though, was Peter receiving the white tulip. That tulip sums up so many of the unfortunate actions characters have taken on this show and the great lengths they've gone to for love and redemption.

Thank you, Fringe.

Peter wore shorts in the reset, and I think the shirt was different, too.

I took it as Walter blinked out of 2015 on the day the Observers invaded. That's why they specifically said that year, right? Otherwise, we'd have to deal with how did Peter end up over here with Olivia if the Observers did not exist for all of time. Basically they did exist up until that day and. . oh fuck, I'm falling into the head explosion thing, so I am going to stop there. My other thought will always be that even if Peter had grown up over there, the cortexiphan trials still happened and they still would have met up. But I'm really going with the Terminator rules.

The one distracted by September was Walternate. In theory, without September Walternate cures Peter while Walter's Peter dies. At the same time, the cortexiphan trials had already started, Olivia had already crossed over once as a child, the William Bell would have still been predicting a war between universes or planning to create his own by destroying the two (as we saw in Season 4). Olivia would have pretty much grown up as the character we saw in the start of season 4, though no way of knowing how Peter would have done with Walternate as a dad.

September's screw-up was not necessary for the eventual meeting of Peter and Olivia, only for the way in which they did in the timeline we saw. After all, why was one of the original twelve bothering to observe that moment in Walternate's lab as some crucial point in time?
