Ever since its debut, Downton Abbey has either been nominated for or won numerous awards, including Emmys and Golden Globes. Speaking of the latter, the show has been nominated for several, including "Best TV Drama." Given the show's popularity with those behind the nominations, this is the thread dedicated to Downton Abbey and awards, whether it's nominations, wins or acceptance speeches.

Golden Globes Report!

Dame Maggie just won the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress in a Series, Movie, or Miniseries. This was not a surprise, and it was also no surprise she didn't schlep to California to pick it up. Congrats!

ETA: However, DA just lost the Best TV Drama award to HOMELAND.*

ETA: ...and HOMELAND continues to steamroll over the field. Claire Danes just beat Michelle Dockery for Best Actress in a Drama.

* As an American, I have to cheer for this. Would have cheered louder if BREAKING BAD had won, but cheerio-pip, etc.

She was adorable! They were obviously shocked at the win, and she was positively charming when she spoke. Behind her were the actors who play Lady Mary, Tom Branson, Daisy and Ethel. And on a superficial note, it's always fun to see the people who play servants when they get all dressed up. They all looked fabulous, especially Mrs. Hughes.

I'm so glad they won! I was crossing my fingers. I think they've all been excellent at various points. The actress who plays Isobel, Maggie, Elizabeth, Hugh, Michelle, Laura, Jessica, Allen, Phyllis, Siobhan, Jim Carter, --they're all excellent IMO. Congratulations to them all.

Whenever I see a pic of Phyllis Logan, I'm astonished at how different she looks from Mrs. Hughes. And she really looked great here.

Very glad they won the SAG award,it was well deserved IMO.

Totally agree. I'm always blown away at how lovely the downstairs cast look when I see them in street-clothes interviews. I think it's the softening of the usually-severe hairstyles on the women especially that makes for such a change. That's why I just wished Siobhan (O'Brian)and/or Joanna (Anna) had been along. Those who were there looked great, as well as thrilled. Congrats, Downtonians. "Shut the French windows!"

I like shut the front door better than the french window thing, but it was a great speech. I also loved how she thanked their crew, and then thanked all the crews for the other nominees. I don't think any of the other winners last night thanked their crew, so good show, Phyllis Logan!

I thought they all looked very elegant, except for Sophie McShera with her gold satin sack. What was she thinking? Alan Leech was yummy.

LOL, yes, Sophie is a very pretty girl but I often find her fashion choices quite questionable :-)

aw... I think Sophie McShera is very pretty too but I have to agree about that dress she chose for the SAG show. It seemed very ill fitting like it was too big and the neck line kept slipping off center in some of the footage. She seems quite chatty though, perhaps the press tour exposure she was a part of with Hugh and the others right before the holidays has loosened her up, she's like a pro now. hehe. On the other hand, Amy Nuttal, seems quite shy and quiet, again, just based on some of the footage. Phyllis Logan was great, also loved how she introduced them, "and this is Alan, Sophie, Michelle, Amy" but she forget to mention herself. Seems so selfless, love her. And Michelle and Alan are like old pros with the press at this point.
