Dame Maggie just won the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress in a Series, Movie, or Miniseries. This was not a surprise, and it was also no surprise she didn't schlep to California to pick it up. Congrats!
ETA: However, DA just lost the Best TV Drama award to HOMELAND.*
ETA: ...and HOMELAND continues to steamroll over the field. Claire Danes just beat Michelle Dockery for Best Actress in a Drama.
* As an American, I have to cheer for this. Would have cheered louder if BREAKING BAD had won, but cheerio-pip, etc.

DA just won the SAG Award, and Mrs. Hughes made the acceptance speech!
She was adorable! They were obviously shocked at the win, and she was positively charming when she spoke. Behind her were the actors who play Lady Mary, Tom Branson, Daisy and Ethel. And on a superficial note, it's always fun to see the people who play servants when they get all dressed up. They all looked fabulous, especially Mrs. Hughes.

Whenever I see a pic of Phyllis Logan, I'm astonished at how different she looks from Mrs. Hughes. And she really looked great here. They all looked fabulous, especially Mrs. Hughes.
Very glad they won the SAG award,it was well deserved IMO.

Totally agree. I'm always blown away at how lovely the downstairs cast look when I see them in street-clothes interviews. I think it's the softening of the usually-severe hairstyles on the women especially that makes for such a change. That's why I just wished Siobhan (O'Brian)and/or Joanna (Anna) had been along. Those who were there looked great, as well as thrilled. Congrats, Downtonians.
