Just when I thought reality tv had sunk to it's lowest, we get a show about a custom Bra shop in Atlanta. Since there is only so much you can do with a measuring tape, I expect lots of manufactured drama. First episode features Norma Stitz

Previewing on Tuesday, Jan. 1, at 10:30 p.m., before going to its regular time slot on Thursday, Jan. 10, at 10, “Double Divas” features Molly Hopkins and Cynthia Richards, the co-owners of a shop called LiviRae Lingerie. Molly, a busty brunette, is in charge of sizing customers. “I honestly believe that I’ve seen more boobs than Hugh Hefner,” she says.

Well I'm glad to see that reality television is at least trying to be a little more tasteful(eye roll)

I am sick of seeing the word Diva thrown around. How did that even get started?

I saw an episode that featured a church choir and the proto for the bro bra, not sure if it's the first ep or what. Can't say I can see where this can go as a series besides seeing women who are in the wrong bra and putting them in their correct size.

Why is this in How-To Reality Shows? I'd been looking for it in Candid Reality Shows and took a stab looking here and found it.

Maybe a mod will move it to Candid Reality where it really is a better fit.

I guess a mod can call on it, but I put it here since I figured it was more of a "how to" in terms of proper bra fitting along the lines of WNTW or Lee Lee's Valise.

I was looking forward to this show actually, since I'm a harder-to-fit bra size. But those women are just trying WAY too hard with all their custey phrases.

On Lifetime there is a new reality show about 2 women who own a lingerie store and the Happy Hijinks that thus ensue. The preview was last night, I think the real series starts Thursday night at 10(?). ANYWAY--I feel cheated because the trailer showed some women with yooge abnormally gigantic knockers and I thought this show was about living with a very large chest (which I used to do pre-surgery). But its about this lingerie store. There a lot of semi-hot girls with dyed blonde straw hair extensions trying on corsets and shit. Snoozefest.

I caught the preview of this as well.

It seems like this shop's forte is bra fittings for larger-busted women, which is actually a pretty lucrative field to be in. They charge a fortune for those speciality size bras, and once a woman finds a bra that actually fits, they're usually more than willing to buy several of them.

I seriously doubt that the bottle-blond with the smoking-hot body, or the African-American husband and wife (where the husband wanted a "freak in the sheets", ew) are the typical clientele for this shop. And those entire segments seemed completely scripted to me. As if TPTB don't think a show about lingerie with thin women will work.

Nevertheless, I'll probably keep it on the DVR. Because. . . you know . . . Tits!!!!!

Since Lifetime is calling this a "docuseries" (barf), and other sources are calling it a reality series, I merged the two threads here in Candid. There's a link left in How-To.

If duplicate threads exist, please click the Report button on a post in the thread and let us know. This is preferable to discussing it in the thread because a) it's boards on boards, and b) ineffective. No one will get in trouble if you use the Report feature this way! While we'd like to make it seem that we mods are omnipresent, the odds of one of the seven of us visiting an individual thread are quite low. Shocking, I know! Thanks.

Instead of buying tent-sized bras, I would be looking into the possibility of breast reduction. The lady they showed with the triple z's has to be in constant pain. Right? How is that even possible to be that large and function??

She's most likely making money off of them. I've seen women with similar...assets make paid appearances and have internet fan clubs.

Remember Tim Gunn's make-over show where they went through the woman's lingerie drawer? I would have said that was as low and intrusive as a reality show can get, but maybe we have a new contender here.

If I ever went to that shop, I would not feel comfortable letting the young girl fit me, based on the comments she made about it being gross helping fit people with not so fit bodies.

That wasn't professional. So many women are self concious and don't want to go to a bra fitting. Add in a sales consultant who doesn't make you feel comfortable or is "grossed out" and that's not a pleasurable experience.

No doubt. I don't think she'll be helping 'regular' women frequent that shop with her attitude.

Agreed. I'm not holding out hope seeing many middle-of-the-road average women needing their services because that will be boring, too, just as it was with the church choir ladies where we saw them before and after, fully clothed (which is what I'd do, too, if in that situation) and hear their praises for how firm everything feels in their new bras. Lots of potential for lots of boring in the future here.

I saw the church choir episode when they had the sneak peak after the premiere of Dance Moms. I was pretty disappointed. From the commercials, I was hoping it was going to be a show about how to fit more unique bra sizes, which could actually be interesting. And maybe give some tips on how to find the right size bra. But that seemed to be incidental to everything else.

The least annoying person was the brunette owner, and she was even kind of annoying. The blond owner was kind of crazy, and pretty bitchy once that guy shot down her "bro-ssiere" idea. I'm sure he reaction was a bit over the top for the camera, but there seemed to be some genuine anger coming from her. And the sidekick was just annoying and rude. Especially, because from the owners, it seemed like they wanted harder-to-fit people to come into the store and feel comfortable, but the sidekick kind of threw that out the window when she said she didn't want to fit "big" people. Brat.

Disappointed in this show. (Surprise!) As a 46DDD plus size gal I cannot begin to sing the praises of a good lingerie store. There is one where I got a long line strapless bra that actually works. It has boning and underwire for support. Of course this being TLC we get all this stunt fitting and the benefits of a good bra fitting are lost.

Well, they charmed me. The owners remind me of Mindy Cohen and Brett Butler. I even like the snotty little sales clerk. I doubt they really use her for many lingerie fittings -- it seems like they picked her just for the purpose of being a comic foil on the show.

Ok so I stayed for the premiere after Project Runway. The show wasn't terrible, but it's got plenty of issues. Mainly that busted ass dirty Ke$ha wannabee. I assume like most crazy looking assistants she was shipped in for show purposes and doesn't actually work there. What in the world is the point of her? Her skin is terrible, she's overly tan, her hair and extensions look like straw, she wears an oversized hat....come on now, she brings nothing to the show and just serves to be fucking annoying. It's painfully obvious she has no business being there, Lifetime.

Other than that it seems like it's going to veer into "zany antics" way too quickly. There might be one segment per show about fitting a woman with an interesting breast issue, but in reality that is what the show should be about. I was pretty grossed out by the one woman dating what appeared to be a 19 year old grease ball. Don't cougars normally prowl for attractive young men? She literally addressed herself as "mama" when she was talking to him. That is straight up nasty.

The customer Norma seemed like a nice lady but her gigantic boobs were gross. The way she stuffed things like a phone between them was disgusting! After she tried on the custom bra she still was popping out and had way TOO much cleavage showing before and after. She makes Dolly Parton look tiny. I like the way the brunette owner, Molly helped out the lady who had uneven breasts. Loren the wannabee Britney Spears clone is funny even though she seems like an airhead.

Norma is in desperate need of a breast reduction. Unfortunately she actually has an X rated website where most of her income comes from. Her boobs are literally cash cows. How sick is it that you would choose to live with those ridiculous fun bags for income and suffer back problems and who knows what else? If she wanted them gone I guarantee she could get it done for free, someone would donate their time just for the free publicity. Maybe as she ages and realizes she needs a wheel barrow to carry them she'll decide to do what's best.

I wouldn't call her "sick". My friend's mom has breasts that size (or close to it) and has never gotten surgery because she is absolutely terrified. She does dress very conservatively though and works as an account, special orders bras etc.

If she chooses to make her living that way, she is an adult, and yes I think most people would have surgery to be more comfortable but I don't think it's a requirement or indicative of her character, I mean she didnt get implants to look like that. YMMV.

Re reduction, my surgeon has a BMI requirement (think it was 35) and I don't think there's anyway Norma would meet it. I'm not as big as she, and I was just few points under the requirement. I also know firsthand that for some people, losing weight is pretty much impossible. All I can say is reduction is the best thing I ever did, and I was a "mere" 38DDD.

I was annoyed straight away with the fakey shopgirl and her 80's kooky aesthetic. They started right in on "She's a terrible employee, I didn't hire her, YOU did!" and then cut to "This job isn't my priority, I have a BAND" (cue terrible music video that looks like an obvious joke). That whole spiel just made me check out.

And the lady with the 2 different-sizes; no one EVER thought before to give her a padded bra with a chicken breast underneath one of them? This was her "last chance" for someone to help her before she would resort to surgery. What did the other bra fitters do?

I just watched epis 1 and 3. I really want to slap all three of the shop women. I'm surprised they aired the comment about being grossed out by overweight/unfit women. Not the way to make new customers feel welcome. I'm not sure I'd like either of the other two women to fit me either. Too many bad boob jokes and puns. To me it confirms what I've always thought a fitting would be like.

I didn't see a whole lot of difference in the church ladies before and after? I didn't think they looked all bad before.

Can't wait to see Enormous Tits aka Norma Stitz. After that, I don't know if this show is compelling enough to continue with.

My wife got a fitting at a place near us in Southeastern Pennsylvania. She said it was a really great experience dealing with saleswomen who "get it".

I hope the women on this show are hamming it up for the camera. But even if so, it's not going to help future sales.

Why is the BMI a requirement?

I see that Norma is 5'6", weighs around 350 and each breast weighs around 56 lbs. Wow. So a reduction would put her at under 250 lbs.

Anyhow, I can't believe I watched this show! The dumb sidekick has GOT to go. How can they not fire that bitchy cheeto after such an offensive comment? I wouldn't set foot in a place like that no matter the state of my bod.
