So who else watched this? I really enjoyed what I saw...and pretty amazed that some of these older guys have held up so well!
Not really a big Bon Jovi fan, or Pink Floyd either, but both Roger Waters and Jon Bongiovi can both still sing!
It was on too late for me to catch the Paul McCartney/Nirvana thing, how was it?

This went way past the time, I think it was 1:30 when it finished.
I liked McCartney and Nirvana.
I was most looking forward to the Stones, but I thought The Who, and Billy Joel really were great.

I bet a lot of viewers can't find this forum. Third browse proved successful. Totally enjoyed what I saw. Packed it in when skirted Kanye came on. Yes, the singing seniors certainly performed well. Springsteen, Bon Jovi, Pink Floyd, Clapton and Rolling Stones satisfied this sassy senior. Mick must be running on super charged dura cells! They all looked pretty weather beaten but really rocked. Sorry to say, The Who had me saying whoa! The unbuttoned shirt wasn't enough to distract me from the failing singing abilities. Sorry I missed Sir Paul. Probably the closing artist, but a thoroughly enjoyable presentation.

Jagger is still whippet thin; actually all the Stones appear to be very slim. I'd love to know their diet/exercise regimes.

I agree Roger Daltry's voice is largely shot, but he appears to be tending to his body with fervor. On the opposite side of the scale, if you close your eyes, Billy Joel's voice sounds exactly like it did in the 70s, but he's a bald, fat old man now. As much as I love the Who, given the choice I prefer singers to take care of their voices instead of their bodies.

The 9/11 concert seemed to have the biggest audience sing along/reaction for The Who, but this time I think it was Billy Joel. You could really hear the crowd sing along with Joel the most last night.

What was the deal with little Stevie Buscemi getting man handled in the crowd, and sort of heckled by those guys? I feared for his safety at one point.

I really enjoyed what I saw and heard. Went out just as it was starting, so I DVRed it and caught parts on Sirius, but got home in time to watch the last 8 1/2 hours... ;-)

Kanye in a skirt was certainly an interesting choice. Billy Joel has always been a favorite, and yes, SassySenior, Sir Paul closed things out - I think he played for about 45 minutes, finally calling it a night around 1:20am. And the line of the night goes to Chris Martin of Coldplay, who suggested donating in a amount equal to the average age of the performers...

Daltrey is still beautiful but holy cow, his voice truly is shot. Billy Joel looked like one of The Sopranos (and someday his nose is actually going to recede into his forehead -- what a profile!) but sounded amazing. Yeah, if your business is singing, voice first, body second.

The comedians I saw were painfully bad. And Kanye West? I'd managed to avoid him till last night. Why I sat through his self-indulgent, overwrought performance is beyond me.

Clapton? Sublime as always.

I thought Clapton had fantastic sound his guitar sounded perfect and clear. Kanye was a.w.k.w.a.r.d. and what was up with the skirt. This better not turn into a trend ala droopy , dropped crotch jeans. Thought Adam Sandler's Hallelujah was great! Best lin eof the nite was CHris Rock " So much money was donated it's all fixed! Staten Island, New Jersey, everyhting is fixed- It's all like Beverly Hills now!"

My household was one the 2 billion that was not able to view on TV - CBS had Survivor. I saw some streaming live on line but I would like to purchase an entire DVD - does anyone know if available ?

I would imagine the proceeds would go to the cause/relief efforts.

Here is the page for the concert.
So far, I only see that the soundtrack is available on Itunes.
I'd assume that when/if a DVD is available, the information would be on that page.
If I see something on their Facebook page, I'll let you know.

Thank you. I guess that haven't had the appropriate time required to package up a DVD. The other merchandise, such as the clothing, was obviously prepared in advance which makes total sense.

The soundtrack doesn't provide me with the visuals which is the closest thing other than to have been lucky to be at Madison Square Garden.

Even if I was at the concert, the DVD would be a nice memory to keep in my music/vid library.

Poor Dawltry's voice was totally bad. I am not sure if he was singing or not...it was that horrid. Love The Who, but, man, Roger's voice must be thin by now.

Roger Waters sounded horrible to me. But to me, no Pink Floyd song is complete without David Gilmour.

And on a shallow note, Chris Martin can wear that suit on my TV anytime he wants to!

That was a good one but my favorite came from Mick Jagger, "Now you have to come help us out the next time it rains in Britain".

I admire Bruce Springteen but I'm not really a fan of his music. That said his performance last night really impressed me.

I was disappointed that Alicia Keys only sang a couple of songs.

Keith Richards looked like the Walking Dead, my god. I heard a little about his drug problems and drinking but he that's some serious hard living he must've done.

The concert seemed geared for those who where in there youth during the 70's and 80's which made me wonder what benefit concerts are going to look like in a couple of decades. I love rap, but I can't imagine seeing Snoop Dog(I refuse to call him Snoop Lion) or DMX or most rappers perform when they're in their fifties and sixties.

I couldn't manage to make it to the end, and my DVR didn't realize it went longer than scheduled. It didn't quite make it to the end of Billy Joel's set. Anyone know where I can catch the last hour and a half?

In his autobigraphy he states that the reason he is alive today is because he only did the purest heroin - for like 20 years.

I think that he looks good for the life he led - which tells you a LOT. :)

Keith Richards looked like the Walking Dead, my god. I heard a little about his drug problems and drinking but he that's some serious hard living he must've done.

You should read some of the autobiographies in which his drug abuse is discussed; for example, he was a good druggie friend of John Phillips, also a serious junkie after the Mamas and the papas broke up. Phillips' book had some interesting tales to tell about their drug use, really bad. Keith Richards is a classic example of "sex, drugs,. and rock and roll".

The concert seemed geared for those who where in there youth during the 70's and 80's

Yes! Loved it!
Amazing show really, reminded me very much of the concert after 9/11, some of the same bands were there, like Roger Daltry and the Who. I agree that Roger still looks pretty good (isn't he like, 70?) but yeah, his voice has been going downhill for quite a while. Even during the 9/11 concert-where they totally kicked ass-you could tell he really had to strain to hit some of the higher notes.

Myfavorite performance was Roger Waters and Eddie Vedder doing "Comfortably Numb." Roger Waters didn't sound too great but the eternally awesome Eddie Vedder made up for it (although his voice is also nowhere near what it was 20 years ago either, but he sounded way better than Roger).

The concert was ok, fast forwarded through most of it. I gave up most of rock and roll when I discovered reggae. My favorite BY FAR was The Who. Failing voices, whatever, that set had all my favorite songs of theirs. I'm 60 years old, I was dancing all over the living room. Felt like I was in my 20's again. Even "blasted a few twists" as my brother would say. I did like how they tried to bleep the word "fuck" and were too late. That was funny.

They had it on the few seconds delay on DFH, and did bleep it. I switched around, and a nearby channel, Wealth, was carrying it without the delay.

HBO didn't bleep anything, as you would imagine. They also didn't cut the show off before it ended, which I heard some stations did when it ran long.

I told my husband that Keith Richards looked like 'death warmed over" and he said that Richard's looked like that 20 yrs ago.
