Andrea steps up when the people of Woodbury are thrown into uncharted territory; a new threat arises at the prison.

I am SO mad at Andrea for stopping Michonne's utterly epic head chop scheduled to hit the governor. That was ice cold how she took out Penny, in a good way. Anybody still think the governor isn't evil? Haha!

I felt unfulfilled by the ending, but it certainly had me on the edge of my seat. R.I.P. Oscar. One of the best parts of the episode was how they started it by just throwing you into the world of Tyrese. Certainly didn't know that was coming!

Ratings should be off the charts again, that was a good episode. Except FU Andrea! Damn you for preventing that kill!

If Andrea lets herself get led around by her crotch and chooses the Governor, I hope she dies screaming. The wall o' heads should be a clue he is a psycho.

I was never a fan of Merle but now I want him and his brother to survive.

As with the previous mid-season finale, this was tight. I suspect the smoke was mainly to explain why nobody recognized each other until there was a climactic moment, but it seemed reasonable enough they'd have and use these devices. Rick still isn't all there, hallucinating Shane in combat.

I was really impressed by Carl in charge. He did everything he had to do, in a moral and yet ruthless way.

I also note the "One Black Guy Allowed" rule repeats itself, with Oscar dying almost instantly as soon as Tyreese is introduced. Seriously, could the showrunners at least try not to be so predictable about this? Exactly this was predicted almost to the second here on these threads.

And we leave off with a great cliffhanger. How will they survive this? And by that, I mean the Governor and the Woodbury idiots.

EDIT: Also, I was so hoping that Andrea would get bitten by one of those zombie heads. Idiot!

Yet again, a new black guy is introduced as another one is killed off.

You can have two black guys in the group show. I promise.

Other than that, I thought it was a weak ending. No way they're killing off Norman Reedus. He's the most popular part of the show.

There are no words to express my hatred for Andrea.
I liked that Michonne showed a little more depth in this episode.
I can't believe I now have to wait months for another episode. Boo.

Jeez. Is Walking Dead only allowed one black guy at a time?

I love the music this season. That heavy beat just ramps up the tension.

Andrea. Stop being awful. I mean, who sees a someone keeping aquariums full of severed heads and is still like, Okie dokie!

Carl is becoming such a badass I love him!

Finally Daryl and Merle meet.

Overall a great episode. But I was a little let down by the ending.

I loved that Tyreese was played by the same actor that was Coach in Left 4 Dead 2. I had such a nerdgasm over it.

So, all the predictions that Woodbury would be pretty much unable to defend itself seemed to prove true. Rick's group were just walking right down main street and nobody could hit them. And then, after being attacked by men with guns the same evening, at the end the wall guards are standing straight up and walking around without a care in the world.

So many things...

I guess we all knew the prisoners were expendable, I just wish it was the other creepy one rather than Oscar. Poor Rick still losing it but I loved seeing Shane again, despite it being a hallucination.

The fight between Michonne and the Governor had me cringing. I knew it was highly unlikely either would die but I did not expect the eye. God, anything but the eye...

Oh poor Daryl. His face completely changes when he talks of his brother. It's amazing that up til now we've never seen the characters interact (beyond his hallucination last season) Probably not the best reunion for the two of them.

Andrea better do something. ANYTHING. To stick up for Daryl. How do you see heads in a tank, your boyfriend hugging his zombied daughter, and still fawn over him? Oh Andrea. You're so damaged.

I'm not sure what it says about me that I was kind of turned on when Daryl entered the arena. I guess it really is true that Reedus can pull off being incredibly sexy in any situation.

ETA: Did I see Woodbury's archer guy holding Daryl's crossbow before they brought him into the arena?

Yep, knew Oscar was toast when another black guy showed up.

Axel continues to be creepy.

Tyrese (?) addressing Carl like a man was kind of awesome.

Daryl being dragged into the thunder dome? Less awesome.

And now I'm singing

"Carl's in charge
of our days
and our niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiights"

Great episode, except Andrea is even deader than dead to me, and the Governor is seriously, seriously evil. Loving badass Glenn, but could have done without the ripping off the arm and fashioning it into a shiv.

Maggie, Glen, Darryl and Carl were all badasses.

I was getting creeped out by Axyl, and then his conversation with Carol almost made me laugh.

Oscar was killed already? Really show?

I don't know who is the bigger dumb ass. Andrea or Michonne. Michonne should have killed the Governor, and then put Penny out of her misery. Andrea interrupting - I'm wondering how these two survived for so long together.

Favorite exchange:
(approximately since I don't have DVR)
"And you're a lesbian"
"No I'm not"
"You're not? But you have the hair"
"Nope"
"Oh. Well that's interesting."
"No it's not."

Oh Axel. You are creepy and pervy. And for some reason, I love you for.

Also:

Dear show,

Please don't kill Daryl.

Love,

Ginna

Carl is definitely setting himself up for a leadership position. The kid had balls of steel (or shit for brains) to explore the prison by himself not knowing to expect. The kid is definitely growing on me.

Michonne needs one more chance with the Governor. I hope she receives it once the show returns in February, even if she has to wait until March.

This was a solid, albeit just shy of perfect of finale. I wish we had seen more of Daryl's capture because we know he didn't go willingly.

Michonne's reaction when she first saw Penny and thought she was looking at a normal human child was so touching. She completely opened up. Kudos to the actress, especially for how quickly she turned to ice once the Governor showed up.

NGL, I laughed at Axel's stupidity. "But you've got the short hair." Carol's amused disbelief was pitch perfect. I'd still keep one on him though - if nothing else I think Carl would actually shoot him if he made a move on Beth.

I loved Michonne's scene with the governor. I liked how she removed the hood before undoing the straight jacket straps, thank goodness. And she put her sword down. She really needs to speak up in situations, but I'm starting to accept that this is who she is, for better or worse.

When she went into the governor's area, I thought she was back looking for Andrea. Then she sat down with the sword, looking badass as hell, waiting on the governor. So awesome. I loved when she stabbed him in the eye, even though that was really gory. And then she got on her feet, got her gear, and then didn't do some business-like stab. No, she went into the full down and up, 360-degree make sure you're dead, swing for the fences, ancient art, reserved for taking out the big bad, go to hell, and you are it you dirty dirty dishrag YOU swing.

And Andrea just HAD to show up and stop it. UGH! Hate you Andrea!

I'm glad we got to see Axel's perviness creep out a bit, although I'm still worried. Is he harmless pervy or Bundy pervy? Beth might be at the age of consent in Georgia, I'm not sure, but I'm glad Carol intervened. I'm just wondering if more serious intervention will be needed, as in, with a baseball bat or something of the sort.

Also agreed. Whatever these Screamer Pits are, they should be renamed the Andrea Pits. What a horrible human.

At this point, I'd be more willing to see Merle rejoin the group than Andrea.

All I can think of is how the hell are they going to get Darryl out of there. Eek!

Carol has lesbian hair...ha! As a straight woman who once had her lesbian friend say I had dyke hair I had to laugh. Still think Axle needs to be closely monitored. The man is hinky.

If Glenn gets anymore bad ass he just may take over the world.

Andrea is still a stupid bitch, that is all.

I was willing to give TWD the benefit of the doubt regarding Oscar's inclusion in the group after T-Dog's death, but now it really does have underpinning of some weird racism that only one black male character is allowed on the show at a time with Tyrese showing up. Now it's getting a bit offensive. Bad job, show. This may also be a little bit because I wanted to get to know Oscar as a character and so I'm a bit miffed.

That episode was awesome.

Michonne is a BAMF and does not play. I cheered for her killing Penny(That little girl should have been put out of her misery) and stabbing Gov in the eye. Andrea is a stupid Bint and dumb as shit. She needs to die asap. If after seeing Daryl and knowing it is his group she still sides with the Gov. She is dead to me.

Loved the gang saving Maggie/Glenn and Maggie apologizing to Rick for giving up the prison and him not holding it against her. So much relief and care between the group.

I love that even after the shock of Merle being alive Daryl came through for the group and it was because of him they got away. I love how the whole thing went down with them not wanting to leave and Daryl insisting they go and Rick being worried for Daryl and threating to kill Michonne if something happens to Daryl. I hope they find a way to save him.

I hate Merle but I actually felt for him when Gov called him out and stabbed him in the back and the worry and fear he had at seeing Daryl was great and I am very worried for Daryl. I hated that they left his fate as our cliffhanger.

I was going to point out Michonne isn't exactly a blonde white woman, but I'm too tired for that.

This episode left me exhausted in all the ways a season finale/mid season finale should leave a person exhausted. Well done.

Carol needs more to do.

Andrea is officially the stupidest person in the show now. I mean seriously. She sees the Wall O Heads and Michonne trying to kill the Governor and STILL doesn't run the fuck out of there and not look back? She deserves to die for stupidity alone.

The Governor is officially bat-shit crazy. Nothing good or redeeming about him. The sooner Rick puts a bullet in his head the happier I'll be.

Rick hallucinating Shane was an unexpected surprise and made me miss Shane :(. But Rick's is gonna need some counseling and but soon.

Michonne putting her katana in Penny's head was fucking AWESOME. But her jamming the shard of glass in the Governor's eye is quite possibly my favorite badass thing yet. Too bad she didn't kill him.

I was really annoyed by the new characters. I don't care about them, why did I have to spend precious 5 minutes of the mid-season finale with people I don't give a shit about.

RIP Oscar. We hardly knew ye :(.

Glenn is a genius for thinking about using the zombies bones as weapons. If they kill him I'm going to be uber pissed.

Darryl and Michonne need to pair up. That would be one devious badass survival couple.

I don't like the sound of "Screamer Pits".

Also, did I mention the Governor and Andrea can die any day now?

ETA: I guess the revolving door of interchangeable black men in Walking Dead continues. That really does rankle. It is possible to have two black men in a show at the same and both can speak lines. There is not a rule against it, show.

Why did Micchone want to kill the Gov to begin with? When she and Andrea got there, he gave them food, shelter, safety, showers and acted really nice to them except that he didnt want them to have their weapons. Then Micchine, obeying her spidey sense went and get her katana and found the rodeo zombies and killed them. Then....the Gov let her go. Now as an audience member we all knew the gov was a bad guy but what the hell did she actually know? Not one damn thing and certainly not anything that would justify her breaking into the man's house and lying in wait to murder him in cold blood. That was really fucked up.

Other than that, I thought Tyrese and his group were great and Carl was awesome. Carol interacting with prisoner pervert was fantastic.
