Please don't post here until the show has aired and keep it on topic. Thanks!

Worst DC ever! Ugh. The bit skewering Mark Ballas was stellar, though.

As great as the music was last night, it was horrid for the final dances tonight.

I LOVED the revealing Shawn moment when she pined for the Jive after it had been selected. Poor babay got a difficult style. Hahahahaha. Why was she selected to close the season? She was in last place coming in. Grrrrrr.

Isabella Lachey is almost certain to grow up to be a Grade A celebrity beyotch. I hope she develops a true passion for something positive, like dance, and learns to earn. I do not like her chances.

Even the East German judge tonight marked down the encore gymnastics routine masquerading as dance.

Tom faked the hell out of me. "Now they have won TWO" Oops, too!

Despite the joy of Tony and Melissa, this was an underwhelming end to an underwhelming season.

I'm out of the loop, but the show time being moved later threw me. Anyway, wow, that was all kinds of awesome and so much so that I don't even know where to start. After last night I was kind of meh about watching this show tonight, but sheee-it was I surprised.

That Dance Center thing is just hilarious. Stupid at times, but still funny to me.

Was it too obvious that Melissa had an open mirror half ball that she was suppposed to choose? Oh, show.

First hint of a real sense of humor in Val about the "speedo" dance when choosing the mirror half ball. So he reads the internetz. :)

Pam looked really great. Not stunned and ragged out. Good for her.

In Gangnam Style when it got to Kelly and Val's part I was all, " WOW, HOLY SHIT KELLY IS AWESOME...." to which Mr. Ari called me a moron and said that it was Kym.

Enjoyed Drew's kid. Drew seemed to have a renewed sense of vigor and seemed kind of stoked to be doing Tony's part in the group dance.

Liked Joey and Kym and the kids. Flove Kym and Joey is fun.

So did some couples reprise a dance and some did new dances? Or maybe I'm confused.

I wondered out loud why the camera had to pan to the audience sitting like lumps and barely clapping for Sabrina. Ouch. And that lift was hard to watch. Still like her though and she was great in the group dance. The wardrobe folks hated her in that purple cheerleader mom-jeans, high waisted thing.

And from what I saw, I take it that Bristol and Mark were not there. Why? ...Anyone?

I actually liked Gilles and Peta's, "Bollywood" this time. He had me, .....until he took off his sash, belt thing at the end. WHY, GILLES? WHY? Because he didn't want Peta to be the only one flashing her low slung pants and special place?

Kelly's instant jive did not send me, and neither did Melissa's instant samba. The instant thing must be really difficult for the obvious time contraint and plus, Melissa's music sucked so hard. Not her fault.

Derek's crying choked me up and I totally bought it. Yes, I'm a dork. And, btw, I still say that Shawn has a crush on Derek. Shawn's instant dance blew the other two off the planet.

When Kelly went out at third, why does Carrieann have to drop her jaw like she is so stunned? Come on.

I had to be happy for Tony. Holy crap on a cracker I thought they'd have to break out the beta blockers; he was so excited that I got excited. heh

Tony has a filthy, filthy, dirty, dirty, mouth, which is the only thing about tonight that surprised me really. At least it's finally over, and Derek lost so thank goodness for that, and if this was his last season, which hopefully it will be, even better.

YES!!!!! YES!!!!!! YES!!!! Go Melissa! Go Tony! A true dancer's dancer. Both of them.

--

Now that I've gotten some resemblance of composure, some thoughts.

What an amazing season for Derek. He presents a certain image to us that we sometimes forget that he's human with hopes, dreams, and disappointments like the rest of us. I'm glad that he had such a solid season with Shawn.

Team Gangnam style killed it. Team Call Me Maybe weren't so good, but I'm glad Apollo and Karina got to dance the solo they would have danced orginally if he wasn't so sick.

Everybody looked pretty good in there solo's, especially Pam. It shows that it pays to have more than a few days rehearsal.

Did I mention how happy I am for Tony and Melissa?

ETA: I hit the post button way too early, and this site is getting hammered right now. Finally made some corrections.

For the first time in Dancing With the Stars history, I am truly shocked. I thought Shawn had it in the bag. With the Olympic sob story, the "star power" of the Fierce 5, incessant flash and pizazz and Wonderbread Derek to top everything off, I would have doubled down on them to win. Way to underestimate Melissa's (and Tony's in some respect) fanbase the entire season. I am living for this result. Couldn't have happened to a nicer gal. Get it, Melissa!

Kelly's instant jive did not send me, and neither did Melissa's instant samba.

Melissa's samba from tonight was Melissa's samba from last night, just slowed down a little. Which I expect Kelly and Val couldn't do the same, because they did their jive during trio week, and it would have been just as complicated to write Louis out, as it would have been to all together write a new one...

You know, I never got on the Melissa and Tony love train, but the sheer overwhelming JOY that was radiating out of every pore of Tony's body was so infectious, that I teared up a little bit just watching it. I'm proud of him, he certainly deserves it!

Honestly, how many times did all the couples say the word "journey" during a two-hour period? If I were playing a drinking game with that word, I would be hammered.

In other news, I'm super happy for Melissa and Tony, even though I am floored that they managed to beat Shawn/Derek.

Also, I'm no fan of the brothers Chmerkovskiy, but I loved their backstage reaction to Tony finally getting the win. Kind of adorable.

Couldn't have asked for a better result. All season I was hoping either Sabrina or Melissa would win, but didn't think it was possible. Glad Melissa and Tony won. Two people who managed to do great dances AND follow the rules, what a concept! Loved their reaction to winning. Only thing that would have made it more perfect was if Shawn came in third.

I think it's very telling how happy everyone looked for them. I don't think they would have had the same strong reaction if Shawn and Derek won. The irony is that Shawn would have easily won if they hadn't broke the rules, so I guess "doing it the audience" doesn't always work. I thought for sure Melissa and Tony would get second, since Shawn and Derek were propped all night with going third and thought the BS propping for their instant dance would be enough to make up for the points they lost last night, but nope. Melissa and Tony seemed resigned that they lost as well. Suck it, Derek! Yeah, he hoisted Melissa on his shoulders, but I saw that bitchface. He was pissed.

I died at Kelly finally revealing the whole thing was basically an act. I love those two, cause I knew they were trolling all along. They showed her boyfriend after like every performance! Hee.

I enjoyed seeing Sabrina and Gilles dance again. They truly are steller dancers. And finally someone calls out Mark for being self centered. They should have thrown Derek in there for good measure.

Excuse me for a second... HAHAHAHAHA.

I like to think that the 5 votes I cast - first time all season - made the difference for Melissa and Tony. :D I was worried when Kelly and Val got third place, because a part of me did think that Kelly's GH fanbase was the only thing stopping Shawn and Derek's coronation.

Chelsie and Derek would make a cute couple. Two dumb blondes, ya know? Sorry, Chelsie. At least you have a good personality.

Anyway, re: the accusations of propping and pimping-- So Shawn and Derek got the encore... they got the pimp spot... they got the 10s for the final dance... gee, the show sure was pimping Melissa! Not that I don't think they were never propping her - they definitely were - I just think they gave Shawn and Derek their fair share of propping, too. Kelly and Val were the ones who lost out.

I just can't stop grinning!!!! he he

Good things do happen to people that work hard. Congrats to Melissa and Tony.

I've never seen a pro drop weight like Tony did this season. He must have been working his butt off. It's been very noticeable how thin and haggard he's looked the last three weeks. Tony's choreography was so much better in All Stars. Even better than what he did with Melissa in Season 8. They earned this win.

I was really worried about judge's shenanigans. There's no way in the world that Shawn's cha cha deserved a perfect 30. At best it was a 9.5 just like Kelly and Melissa got. I thought for sure TPTB were rigging it for Shawn's win. I'm glad the fans came through for Melissa and Tony.

I thought Drew's daughter was so cute out there dancing with him and Anna. Top feel good moment of the show for me.

I'm thrilled for Melissa and Tony!! Finally, someone that I actually voted for won DWTS.

So, so happy for them, they really deserved to win. I'm glad that so many fans out there voted for them.

I think Kelly and Val did a great job tonight too and wished they would have been second. Kelly was lovely and gracious in her goodbye.

And yes, I'll be petty - I'm glad that the goldenbots were totally ignored at the end.

And that CAI looked like she would swallow her weave.

A great night all around.

As Tom said....a feel good win.

LOL, so much for all the absolutely positively in-the-bag fix-is-in predictions for Shawn & Derek. The Grassy Knoll will have to reinvent itself.

Glad to see Melissa and Tony take it. No winner getting a second MBT could have radiated the unmitigated joy those 2 gave off when they were announced the winners. Obviously they were the crowd favorites tonight as well.

Shawn & Derek had the most interesting routines across the season, but Melissa and Tony winning is the best of all possible worlds.

First, congratulations Tony.

Now, WTF!?!? Melissa is quiet possibly my least favorite winner of all time. Her and Helio are neck and neck. She's also probably top 3 least favorite contestants of all time. She's everything I don't like about this show. The put on personality, the propping up from the judges, the ringer background that never gets called out (I've liked my share of ringers but I resent that they usually don't win because the judges expect more and their experience is brought up all the time. Not so with Melissa), and most of all she's in no way shape or form a star. She just annoys the crap out of me.

My initial theory for why they won is they were the least offensive option. No over the top stunts, no showmance. Kind of feels random.

I'm sure this will extend Melissa's fame. She's done a decent job getting jobs from ABC since her last stint. We'll get to see her grace our screens for years to come. Lovely.

I do have to take some joy in Derek somehow losing this. So he isn't perfect after all. I think if they would have performed another dance they would have gotten perfect scores and won. Hard to feel too bad for them though since they've both won. Also, I love that finally the last couple to perform didn't win. That's a nice pattern to break.

Yes. So happy for them both.... and loved the reactions of the others, especially the pros.

I was holding my breath. I was over at People.com just before the show started and they had a poll that was showing 51% for Melissa, 33% for Shawn and 18% for Kelly. So I had hope.

Happy 13th wedding anniversary to Tony! And yeah for Melissa! Couldn't happen to a nicer celeb.

Wow! I am beyond thrilled for Melissa and Tony. Sometimes nice guys do finish first. This is legitimately the only results that actually shocked me this season.

Also, I'm no fan of the brothers Chmerkovskiy, but I loved their backstage reaction to Tony finally getting the win. Kind of adorable.

Yes, their absolute joy was so sweet, and the first time that I unabashedly liked the both of them this season.
And the best part? They totally DENIED Mark Ballas and Julianne Hough the opportunity to run onto the stage and hoist up Derek while the Fierce/Fab 5 tried to lift Shawn up just as high.

Combined with the returning couples and a mostly amusing Dance Center, this was one of the better finales to cap off a very bizarre season.

I rarely vote, but threw some out there for Melissa and Tony and a couple to Kelly and Val because I hated the fierce 5 being in Shawn and Derek's freestyle (even though there was clearly tons of dancing in that freestyle and wow Derek's not a bad gymnast, is he?)

Still, the Melissa Tony narrative is clearly so much more exciting than the Shawn Derek narrative that I feel all kinds of grassy knollishness at that result.

You know, I don't really feel one way or the other about Derek, but I did think it was pretty classy of him to hoist Melissa up on his shoulders so that she didn't have to just stand around while Tony was propped up. I know that's happened to his partners in the past, so I thought it was nice he did that for her.

I'm glad Tony finally got his mirrorball - the man suffered through Kate Gosslin AND Wendy Williams. He deserved this. And his sheer joy at finally winning, combined with Val and Maks' reactions, put a huge smile on my face.

Imo the last four or so weeks were all about getting Melissa/Tony the Mirrorball. They have been good but the show wanted them to win and once again got the winner they wanted. I'm pretty much never shocked on this show because it's soooo obvious. Like I said in the performance thread, DWTS didn't benefit with a Shawn&Derick win. It will with a Tony&Melissa win. They are different winners and the show will be able to use that to their advantage with press and being able to call Melissa former winner later when she becomes co-host ;)

this must be the worst camera footage ever! The camera angle was horrible. It was bad this season, but today was the worst. And there was some weird editing going on there. Come on, it's the finale, for goodness sake!

The swing dance marathon was correct, with the exception of Shawn and Kelly, of letting us know who will be eliminated first and who won. Melissa has been the appointed winner since then.

Congrats Melissa and Tony - they were probably the best out of the three to win, but unfortunately, it was rigged. Dont' know how Melissa could have beat two Olympians, a NFL Hall of Famer, and a soap opera star. But she did!

It's good to know that TPTB were part of Melissa's loyal fanbase who voted her as champions of the all stars.

Happy Melissa and Toy won. My best friend lost an office pool, but the look of pure joy and surprise on Tony's face made up for it. Val and Maks were so happy for him and Apolo was freakin shocked.

I really think Shawn/Derek's free dance worked against them. I was talking to my hair stylist tonight (who wouldn't know a message board if she saw one)and she said she was turned off by her bringing the Olympic team on the show. I do think their insta dance was fantastic though.
