From TVGuide.com:

The race continues in Amsterdam, and the five remaining teams encounter a game-changing double U-turn.

So annoyed at Abbey & Ryan saying the chippies cost them 2 million dollars; sorry kids, your play cost you that money. So sad, too bad.

I still dislike the twinnies but they at least managed to eat that disgusting fish without vomiting which I could never have done, so good for them.

(edited to correct team names- oops!)

Over the moon that Ryan & Abbie are out. Still rooting for the twins to win the final leg.

That was a pretty good episode... of Survivor.

As TAR, that sucked. The Luck of the Evil kicked in and obviously the twins make a one hour international connection and Abbie and Ryan don't, and that was 90% of the leg. The other 10% was the U-Turn, which I hate. Awful. Especially because Abbie was legitimately awesome and Ryan bugged me far less than most (mostly because he had Abbie making fun of him for us). Go Jameses and then I guess the Beekmans.

For a moment I was afraid it would be a NEL, and Ryan would incinerate James and Jaymes at the airport with his death glare. That was probably the most well-thought out use of the double U Turn ever.

So, a few random thoughts.

1: Interesting the different approaches to the U-Turn.

The Twins: We don't like them, and we don't want them to win $2 Million
Trey & Lexi: We don't like them
Chippendale: They are the strongest team left

So yeah. I will give them credit, having the second team U-Turn the first does take away the ability to immediately U-Turn the team behind you. Not that it may have mattered because...

2: I was figuring that the Josh and Brent would follow the other team around and race with them. I was still surprised when they discussed actually doing that. You don't need to be cut throat..., but come on. Try to win. What kind of talk is it to try and do something that will almost certainly make you lose?

Is this the first time a group of teams ever strategically planned out a double U-turn? I wonder if the producers will try and do anything to combat it in future seasons.

It was nice to see 5 different teams on 5 different flights, much better than the group bunching. I'm betting the next leg will have some bunching though. Josh/Brent are have to be at least 6-7hours behind Natalie/Nadiya.

Where do these episode titles come from? It's like they're not even trying anymore.

That was some seriously bad airport luck for Abbie & Ryan. They miss a 1-hour connection last time, they plan well ahead this time and still get screwed on the first flight, and then again on the second flight. Meanwhile, the shrieking twins make exactly the same gamble that A/R did last time (short 1-hour connection) and instead of being rewarded with delays and elimination, they are rewarded with first place.

I really hate it that teams I dislike are showered in good luck while teams I like (well, Abbie, anyway) always seem to be the victims of bad luck.

Did the Chips have any kind of alliance with the Twins prior to this leg? I wasn't aware of it, but they sure acted like they did. Or maybe it was just an ad hoc agreement they went along with because they were put on the spot.

BTW, after the first episode where the Chips barely escaped last place (and I was irritated because I thought they were going to be asshats), TAR went and spoiled that they would be with us for a long time in their Season Preview, where we saw the Chips standing with European architecture in the background, apparently from this leg or the next.

How dare those Chippies cost that nice man 2 million dollars. It's not like they were competing against him and wanted to win too or something. Or that only one team can win the big prize.

Oh, wait. There is only one winner. Ryan you can suck it. Abby, liked you, but you are partners with the tool.

Go Chippies!!

(And loved that they keep their collar and cuffs handy for emergencies!)

Leave it to the twins to pull the FF. At least it cut down their screen time.

Whining at the airport worked for them. Abby and Ryan; not so much.

I'm so glad Ja(y)mes stuck with the plan.

They are not there to make friends and have an emotional incentive to win.

Great time to pull out the collar and cuffs at the detour.

As the old saying goes "Nice guys finish last". Trey and Lexi did their part, too. Keep Abby and Ryan from wriggling out of the trap.

I was afraid the Beekman's were going to chicken out. It's a game.

Goodbye Ryan! Don't be such a cry baby. Something tells me they will never visit Frankfurt again!!

"The Chippendales cost ME two million dollars" Like all the other teams should bow down to your awesomeness. Not.

Take it as a testament to your greatness that they all wanted you out, because, yes, you were a strong team. Less arrogant at the end. The bond with the Beekman's seems genuine.

Amsterdam is so cool. I've had the privilege of visiting there.

Team Chippendale FTW!

It seemed that the pole vaulting seemed a bit too easy this time. Then Ryan mangled it. But someone needs to tell them 1) they would have done the same in regards to the U turn and 2) RAAAAAAACE. Same with Jaymes hemming and hawing and Brent agonizing about leaving Abbie/Ryan behind before Josh knocked some sense into him.

That said...thank you Chippies for breaking out the collars and cuffs for no reason until than admitting you are eye candy (and truthfully much more than that.)

Edited to add: Phil's shimmy. I may have enjoyed that too much.

Eh. I've been a supporter of Abbie and Ryan for the race so far, but I was not sad at all to see them go. Their goodbye speeches being all about "I can't believe we got screwed so badly, this is once in a lifetime", etc., fall on my deaf ears, because they have not even been trying for the last 3 legs. Bad airport luck happens, you need to just shake it off, blame it on God or whatever, then land in the next city and carry on and do your best. I was hoping that when they saw the Beekmans, they'd feel a surge of adrenaline like normal Racers who fear they're in last place do, the "Hey, we're still in this!" surge of adrenaline. But no, they just continue to sulk at the back of the pack.

Also, I wasn't a fan of the design of this leg. The FF was decent enough, but neither detour option was particularly thrilling, and the organ grinder seemed to rely on how many people were actually out and about walking. The RB had some good memories of Nick and Don doing this ages ago, but its a really bad choice for a switchback. They were obviously hoping that more teams would end up like Don and be there forever, but he was the oldest person to ever do the race. Did anyone else even struggle with it back in season 12?

I would have liked to see more of the travel aspects, like the buses to the RB and teams trying to locate/look-up the pitstop instead of just magically editing from the end of the RB to the mat. But I guess we needed the airtime for the "tense" battle for last place and the annoying double u-turn.

Remember when they were on that same canal in season 4, and they were on their own little motorboats and had to guide themselves and drive themselves with a map of the area? Yeah, good times. This time we get a nice image of Trey and Lexie taking a nap while the driver takes them there. Can't we have the teams work a little harder? And can we get the teams to drive themselves even once this season??

This was by far the weakest episode of the season, and while not entirely the fault of the producers (the final 2 teams refused to make it dramatic after all), it was still a yawner. Especially disheartening after last week's gem of an episode. Maybe if that Moscow professor had been the judge of the Rembrandt painting task it would have been better.

Didn't the Texas couple make a mistake? -- they road the boat to the first task instead of walking. I thought they'd be penalized. I thought the camera made a point of lingering on that section of the card, although maybe it was just the wording about the U-Turn and I misunderstood.

I have to admit that U-turning the Chippendales was wicked evil. I kept having to remind myself how much I disliked Ryan back during the episodes where they were doing better. He lost his douchiness when they started losing, but you could tell from the talking heads throughout the show that they had been eliminated. He couldn't get the angry off of his face for the recaps.

I love the Beekman guys. Just love them. I wish there was some way they could win. But I don't think that will happen, so I guess I'm rooting for the Chippendales over the other two couples, who both have just been eat up with obnoxious lately.

Astonishing that Brent was ready to give up their spot in the final four because he felt sorry for Abby & Ryan - that was a weird, parasitic relationship. At least Josh put a stop to that.

The U-turn, like it or not, is part of the game. It's not underhanded to use it. Ryan's definition of friendship seems to be "people who will get out of my way and let me win 2 million dollars.

The Twins continue to be amusing and rocked the fish challenge. If the final three is Twins/Chippendales/Trey & Lexi, it should be an exciting finale.

No, Ryan, the Chippendales didn't cost you two million dollars, your bad decisions over the past few legs cost you two million dollars, especially the tight connection to Moscow and then sticking around at the swimming detour waiting for Josh and Brent. If you had finished that leg earlier you might have been able to make up more ground on the other teams and been able to avoid being U-turned.

And as far as the U-turn is concerned, I've always been a proponent of using it when it's to your advantage. And I HATE the whining that results from the teams that get U-turned, especially comments like Ryan's about how it shows the Chippendales "true colors" or something to that effect - how he felt especially betrayed since the Chippendales had been their friends. Well, Ryan, I thought you understood that this was a RAAAACE, and that the other teams wouldn't just roll over and let you win two million dollars.

The video of grandpa Don trying to vault that ditch in his underwear was a video clip I really didn't need to see again...

The Chippies did not cost Abby and Ryan the race...their poor travel arranging skills did them in.

I'm glad that J/J did use the U-Turn...and not because they made a deal with the other two teams. You want to knock out a strong team...and of the trailing two teams, they were the strongest. Brent and Josh had already assumed that Abby/Ryan would be the primary targets for just that reason.

Actually, the Chippies were lucky they ran into the Twinnies when they were heading for the FF. Saved some wasted time.

Evem though I'd watched the preview clip of the Chippies doing the organ grinder challenge beforehand...it was still funny as hell.

That was an easy FF, compared to some in the past. But eating those fish was rough.

I know! And Brent was actually complaining in the cab that the reason Abbie and Ryan got U-turned was because "they are seen as the stronger team, so the other teams want us to stick around", as if it's something to be offended about. Yeah, let's combat that by losing on purpose, Brent...

ETA: Brent is not Josh.

Guys, RAAAACE. I like the one goat farmer who pointed out that someone has to step on the mat first.

Ryan reminds me of that guy who is just naturally very talented and if everything is going his way everything is great and happy and spectacular but the moment something doesn't go his way or he can't understand something he just wants to give up and quit.

Quite the entitled one, aren't we Ryan? Seriously - the Chippies cost you 2 million. How about the bad airport choices (and some bad luck), your inability to decipher time zones and the strange and time wasting camaraderie you developed with the Beekmans? Face it - you spent the last 3 legs feeding the bottom and I can't blame the other teams for deciding not to let a future bunch put you back in contention. I'd rather race against the Beekmans too. Too bad you didn't.

Poor traveling arranging skills? What did they do wrong that the Twins did not do? "Being unlucky" does not count as a poor travel arranging skill.

Ah, Amsterdam, still one of my favourite cities, even when it's pissing down. Nice that TPTB made it an on-foot / boat / public transport leg, though that meant it was constrained to an incredibly tight bit of the central city before heading out to Ransdorp. (Pretty sure I recognised the bridges where the organs were stationed.)

The sympathy edit for Abbie and Ryan didn't really work, given their past form. Yeah, it sucked that they got two shitty connections in a row, but it's not as if they had their passports driven away by a rogue cab. They had the target on their back, and the teams in front worked out how to use the U-Turn to their collective advantage.

The ditches seemed a fair bit narrower this time. Also, roll up your herring; don't do the cartoon cat drop-down-gullet thing.

No but seriously, Abby's partner is such an asshat that I needed then to lose. Sorry Abby. He said he would uturn the beekmans. Did anyone else hear that except me. And then the Beekmans spend all that time debating hanging out and WAITING for them, when they are the BOTTOM TWO TEAMS. There is such as thing as being too nice. It was annoying, not endearing at all. At least to me and and trackbaby. Ugggghhh. And then, please note that he was the only person who had trouble with the pole vaulting challenge.. and him so superior and all. Pulease...

Best things about this ep for me:

J&J taking their shirts off for the organ grinding
Phil asking the Beekmans if they wanted him to eliminate them so that Abbie & Ryan could stay (seriously, wtf Beekmans???)
The sad music for Abbie & Ryan continues just to the beginning of the credits then - lalala! Happy Amsterdam music cuts in! LOL!

I felt a bit bad for Abbie when she cried to the woman at the organ grinding, but yeah, J&J U-turning them as a strong team made the most sense.

The tasks were meh, especially coming on the heels of last week's "Nexxxxt rounnnd!"

My preference is the Chippendales but I'm fine with any of the remaining four taking it.
