Usher just did the opening and I feel it lasted a little too long. Looks like there is going to be a couple of tributes tonight. I wonder how they are going to represent Whitney Houston.

Meh....I thought Usher sounded bad in the opening. Plus I have a hard time forgiving him for unleashing Bieber upon the world.

I rolled my eyes so hard at Bieber's speech. Anyone knows who votes for the American Music Awards?

I usually like Usher, but that was just big meh, and too long, Jesus.

Beiber makes me sick with those stupid fucking pants that make him look like he is wearing a freaking skirt over leggings. Lose that look Beiber. Sooner the better.

Praise ke$ha because her performance was the first one that wasn't a mess. It had some actual energy and she has stepped up her dancing and singing. Kelly's could have been great but the mash up thing hurt her.

I used to think it was annoying having the mosh pits full of hysterical teenagers, but without them everyone's performances are so flat. And someone needs to tell Taylor Swift that it's okay to put down her purse. It just looks weird.

I totally agree about the Kesha performance. It was the only one that caught my attention. Plus she didn't look as dirty as she usually looks.

I do not get those pants at all. Definitely a fashion choice that he will look back at and cringe. They are in no way flattering. Sorry for being a hater :)

Pink is just amazing!

Pink did it like a boss. Just gangsta. She shut it down on their asses. And my 16 yr old self has to give a shout out to BSB. Kevin is still fine as hell.

I thought Keisha's choreography was pretty damn tight. Much better than Minaj's disaster performance....what was she doing with her song with the snow elements and gospel chorus background.....it was just one huge mess.

Kinda sad that Psy will end up a one-hit wonder in the States. The guy is legitimately entertaining and charismatic.

ETA: Oh wow, and MC Hammer? One-hit wonders or not, the two of them pretty much slayed almost every other performance.

Best: Pink. Far and away.

Surprisingly fun to watch: Kesha. Sounded decent, good choreography, fun. Psy and MC Hammer. Really good mix.

Surprisingly meh for having good voices: Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson. That medley for Clarkson maybe was a good idea, but really poorly executed.

I like the song Taylor Swift did and think she sounded okay, but she was really awkward on stage.

Kelly sounded horrible, Christina needs to stop seeing her late 90s body when she looks in the mirror and needs to try on some pants, and that tribute to Dick Clark was completely disgraceful considering this show was his production. MC Hammer saved that Psy performance from being another William Hung mockery. And One Direction needs to sit down with BSB and learn what it is to be a boy band. They were terrible too.

MC Hammer saved that Psy performance from being another William Hung mockery.

I had the opposite view - Psy actually made Hammer interesting again (for one night at least). People seemed to actually enjoy Gangnam Style as opposed to mocking it. Psy and Hammer's collab was the best performance of the night - energetic and fun.

That said, I do think Psy's headed for One Hit Wonder status unless his follow up can catch some of the current fire of Gangnam Style. But he's a legitimate pop star back in South Korea so I doubt he has much to worry about if he doesn't have a US hit again.

The first time I saw Gangnam I thought, "That dude is ripping off some Hammer moves."

Pink is into contemporary dance now with the intentionally flexed feet? She was very athletic and the dancing was well done.

Is it Minaj that keeps tripping over her dress? Is she ill? Because I don't want to mock an ill person, but why do you wear a freakin dress you can't get up the stairs in, in case you win and have to get up the stairs.

Where was Gomez? Not next to Beiber unless I missed her. Beiber's mom? Really? REALLY? She looks only slightly older than Beiber. Damn.

My secret, guilty pleasure about which I will probably deny if confronted, I think I love Pitbull, or "the" Pitbull. [/tm Betty White] :)

Bieber is such a tool. His acceptance speech was cringeworthy at the end of the show. Doesn't seem like he's the most articulate guy in the world.

My reaction to Bieber is wondering when I saw "Boys Don't Cry" last............

I'm beginning to think that Pink's abs are the 9th Wonders of the World.

Kesha- Horrible in every way imaginable.

Usher- Capable of doing better.

Pink- Best performer in music. So glad she hasn't lost any steam from Funhouse. Her new album The Truth About Love is da bomb.

Bieber- Painful to watch that attempt at acapella. I like the kid but he needs to be taken down a notch or two.

Minaj-Sounded like the Nanny.

Xtina-Becoming the laughingstock in the industry.

Swizz Beats/Chris Brown/Luda- I guess we can be thankful Swizz didn't bring his wife on stage to scream all over everyone.

Stevie-50 years in the game and took a crap on everyone above not named Pink.

Carrie and Kelly-What American Idol should be about.

PSY/Hammer-Completely unexpected and was a perfect way to close the show.

I get it that women want to own their bodies (is that the expression of the day?) especially if they've gained some pounds over 10 or 15 years, which happens; but Christina doesn't need to put herself out there for ridiclue. She can actually sing, so she doesn't need to parade around in skimpy outfits that seem to almost beg for criticism. I'm not even saying that she's fat. I'm saying it invites comments in the media that are less than nice. Plus there has to be attire that is a little more flattering or at least less cringeworthy.

Except for a couple or three performances, the show seemed pretty bad to me (and the other person watching with me.) We started thinking there's something wrong with us, our speakers, or our hearing; So it's nice to know we aren't the only ones who thought so much of the show surprisingly really sucked.

I really cannot watch Beiber anymore with the crotch at his knees and his grabbing his junk. It. just. does. not. work. It's like the tough act would not work with the Snuggle fabric softner bear, the Energizer bunny, the Pillsbury doughboy -- if they were real. Well, you get my point.

I wish Christina will show some decorum next time. Even Susan Boyle wouldn't parade in that costume getup that Xtina had. Such an awesome voice, but then again...so sad she has to resort to this image that is so not her.

One Direction did not perform last night. That was The Wanted.

I was surprised by how much I liked Ke$ha as well. I really liked that she wasn't wearing stiletto heels and it helped with her dancing. PSY with MC Hammer was way cool. I should have figured the surprise guest was going to be MC Hammer when PSY came out and was wearing those genie pants that MC Hammer made famous.

As much of a tool as I think Justin Bieber is, I actually kind of liked the acoustic part of his performance. Then I saw the ridiculous pants and then that extra large trucker hat he was wearing the rest of the night and it negated any of the good will he gained from it.

Selena went to the AMA after party with him. Earlier, they didn't look too cozy when they were sharing a sushi dinner and he was seen access denied at her home. Bieb's mom was a teen when she had him and was seriously thinking of giving him up for adoption.

1) Usher was horrible. He sounds terrible live and could take some lessons from Pink

2) Pink - how in the hell does she manage to a performance like that and sound great.

3) Psy/MC Hammer - I love me some MC Hammer and the Gangham Style/2 Legit 2 Quit performance had this 42 year old mom dancing.

4) Kesha - so confused. Is she Lady Gaga? She still makes music? Who knew? I'm a little out of touch

5) The Wanted - so much better than One Direction

6) Christina A. - seems to suffer from the Mariah Carey disease. Mariah/Christina actually have talent, yet they seem to parade around in ill fitting/unflattering clothes. I dont get it.

7) Kelly Clarkson - love her songs, just love them.

Absolutely! Here's what I love about Pink - she has no interest in topping herself by being more "shocking" or "controversial". Hell, that's easy. Pink knows she doesn't need to top herself at all. She just consistantly offers great performances. Sometimes just great fun, sometimes amazingingly beautiful, but always just plain GOOD. I like to picture her walking off the stage and saying to no one in particular "And THAT. is how it's done."
