Say what you want about Ryan Murphy's showrunning, but his shows usually have great music.
I really liked the use of "There Goes My Baby" by the Drifters to set the time period, and "Dominique" by the Singing Nun as a tension contrast.

I noticed that in certain scenes, the soundtrack was the pre-bucket-o-blood music from Carrie. The scene where Susan (Amy Irving) sees the rope and the bucket about to be dumped on Carrie. Makes me wonder if AHS:A will be using other famous horror movie music as an homage to those films. He did it for Glee, so why not here?

Yes, last season was full of musical homages to great horror films, if I recall correctly. Loved hearing all the Carrie music this week!

What's even more insteresting is that at the end, Soeur Sourire was leaving away from the church and with a woman. Tying the lesbian character with the nun character with the use of a famous song by a lesbian nun is a nice touch indeed.

This show used one of my favorite pieces of classical music (Faure: In Paradisum - had to look it up on my Most Relaxing Classical Music cd). Unfortunately, they used it during the scene where the Mad Doctor has shackled Shelly to the bed. Ugh....I need to watch kittens on the internet with that in the background now to cleanse my musical palate!

They used quite a few excerpts from Faure's Requiem, including the Libera Me bass solo, which I adore. But yes, the use of In Paradisum was particularly creepy!

"You don't own me" by Leslie Gore in the latest episode in which Sister Mary danced in Sister Jude's lingerie was a pretty great tune!

They're killin' it with the music from the 60's. Dominique, It would be a wonderful world, Whishin' and Hopin', Buttons and Bows, You don't own me, etc. My iPod is very happy right now, and my ears are too!

Well, I can't imagine anything will top "The Name Game".
Now that it's 1965, I really, really want to hear "As Tears Go By" and "Catch the Wind".

Ha, I seem to be the only one that didn't like "The Name Game" scene.
