ETA: I don't have a link but saw an article which said TPTB are going to show next season as two mini seasons, with each mini season (12 eps) airing right in a row. So if this is right we will get 12 eps in 12 weeks, then a long break, the 12 more eps in 12 weeks. Awesome!

I read about this during Upfronts. I don't remember if all the networks are doing it, or if it's just ABC, but I read "they" want to try this out with many of their shows and air mini shows, like reality shows, during the long breaks. I don't know how I feel about it. I love the idea of having 12 episodes air, but how long will that break be?

I actually think this makes good sense--so many of the cable shows do it and it's nice to just know your show is going to be on for a set number of weeks and then return.  I hope they can also do it so that production keeps up--I would definitely say that the lack of production time showed in the last couple of episodes and the way the story was paced.

I saw something that said the premiere would be September 1. Early, right? But if correct, we would have new episodes all September, October, and November sweeps.

Then I would guess no new eps at all in December or January.

You figure they start back up in February for those sweeps, which would have them finish either end of April or (depending when they start in February) sometime in May for May sweeps.

Just guessing, but I would expect them to orient it around the sweeps of November, February, and May.

Looks like Chris Carmack, and both Lennon and Maisy Stella have been promoted to regulars next season.  Not surprised since Will was there a lot in the last episodes, and it looks like they're setting up big things for the daughters.  I'm good with this: I'm really curious to see where they go with Will next season.  As for the Stellas, they must be loving life.  From YouTube fame, to I-tune sellers and working with actors/actresses like Connie Britton in about a year!

Interesting that Kimberly Williams Paisley wasn't announced as going on contract.  I remember reading in Deadline that the show was planning on making her a regular if it got a second season.

In theory I guess they didn't feel they had to announce it now since it was was reportedly announced last fall but when Chris Carmack was hired, the same thing was said about him being made a regular in the event of a second season.  And yet he was part of this press release while Kimberly wasn't.  I wonder if that means the show has changed its mind.  I like KWP but I am not a fan of Peggy so I guess I hope she goes away.

Congrats to all three. All add to my enjoyment of the show.

KWP will still be around, maybe not as frequently... after all we will still have to see her bore us with the story of Teddy's baby. I like KWP but her character either annoys me or puts me to sleep.

Chris Carmack (Will) interview with TVLine:

http://tvline.com/20...layla/#comments

His answer to the question about Will's feelings for Brent is maddingly evasive!:

TVLINE | What are his feelings about Brent? Are there any romantic/lustful feelings that linger, or is that all in the past and now’s he’s just freaked out by him being around?

Brent strikes me – and it’s television, so you never know when somebody’s going to come back or what’s going to happen – so I can’t comment on the future of Will and Brent but I can comment on the present: I’m sure anybody can relate to the uncomfortable situation of being around an ex-lover where things are not resolved. It takes a good year-and-a-half before you can start hanging out with an ex-girlfriend again, you know, and it be cool and there aren’t mix feelings or jealousy. And Brent and Will have not had that time to process things.

I was so excited for that concert tour announcement, till I read that they aren't coming to my area (Boston). Damn. I would totally go to that!

The concert tour seems like a good sign re: a renewal, yes?

Yeah, that's what I was thinking too.

In other news, Connie Britton joined Twitter, and the Internet was abuzz.

Chip Esten was in my mailbox today on the cover of my alumni magazine. It's not online yet but will show up at http://alumni.wm.edu/magazine eventually. Page 32.

I wouldn't mind going to the Nashville concert tour, but the distance from home plus the ticket price are too much for me, and it's sold out already anyhow.

I'm wondering if one of the concerts will end up as its own "live concert" DVD.  ABC monetizes almost every aspect of Nashville, and I'd be surprised if the tour dates will simply be three tour dates with no conversion into another format.
