Well, she popped up in The Power Of Three, was revealed to be the Brigadier's daughter and was overall a wonderful character to watch with her interactions with the Doctor and Amy.

Surely, she's bound to be a recurring character. She's way too brilliant to waste on one episode alone.

I hope you are right! The Doctor need someone who isn't a companion but can help him and he can count on but also takes care of things on Earth when he's not around (like the Brigadier!).

A strong and mature woman in authority, with a wry sense of humour. A wonderful choice for a companion indeed! The dynamics between her and the Doctor would be fun to watch and there might be some tension with River.

However, the actress is rather busy I think and the most we can hope is probably irregular appearances. Besides, the writers could get bored, quickly run out of interesting material and resort to shtick, making her lose all of her apparent freshness and qualities.

I would love though to have one or two other conversations of them reminiscing about Sir Alistair, with the Doctor mentioning he tried to get in touch with him but was too late (although that made little sense because as a time-traveler he only has to pop up a little earlier, before the Brig's death, timeline changes be damned).

I wasn't thinking of Kate as a companion in the traditional sense but it would be nice to see her in another episode or two.
