Loose ends are tied up while Walt contemplates a dangerous move.

Well, that doesn't sound too ominous or anything.

Two music montages within the space of 10 minutes seemed a little indulgent. Was that Nat King Cole for the prison murder spree montage?

This really felt more like a series finale up until the last five minutes or so. It seemed kind of…inert, I suppose, like an episode of Mad Men.

Hank versus Walt for the back eight episodes is going to be awesome. Bring it on!

Man, Lydia is one smooth talker. How many sticky situations has she managed to talk herself out of?

Sheeee-itttt! I knew Hank would catch on, I just didn't think it would happen this soon. This automatically makes the next 8 episodes that much more crucial. How on earth are they going to give this series a fitting ending in such a short time? I'll be there to find out!

FINALLY!

And best use of "Crystal Blue Persuasion" ever. I can't imagine they didn't consider using this tune earlier, so they must have been saving it up.

Walt, you fucking idiot. Why would you keep a book with an inscriotion from Gale in your house where Hank could see it? I knew that Walt Whitman would somehow factor into Hank figuring things out. Awesome moment.

Lots of great, great moments in this episode. The murder montage was one of the most batshit crazy, horrifying things I've ever seen on television, the cooking/business montage was brilliantly, charmingly edited, and I loved all the quiet character interaction, especially the Walt/Skyler and Walt/Jesse scenes.

Holy. Shit.

Hank shit himself when he found out, how poetic.

Enough jokes that was incredible. It moved extremely slowly, and thought they were going to leave everything "fine". But no. I don't know how I'm going to wait an entire year for this to play out.

A dump produced a 'i got it moment'. Who knew.
I still don't get how retiring puts his family in danger? The episode description was really deceptive, almost lied.

Conchyliata - my thoughts exactly!

Just when you think you're out....

After all the bad stuff Walt's done I couldn't help rooting for him to get his family back together.

The first half of this episode bored me. The second half was so much more interesting because the plot was finally moving the main characters along in the storyline. I am looking forward to Hank vs. Walt, and Skyler really looks like the variable that can swing this battle one way or another.

I spent a lot of the episode focused on how we are put, with the camera, into uncomfortable spaces. The trunk of a car with a dead body, the floor of a prison shower, a shadowy corner of Jesse's apartment where we wished we could get a better angle, looking over Hank's shoulder on the toilet.

I cannot wait to see the next 8 episodes. I applaud this show for having a vision and sticking to it. It could easily stretch for 3 more seasons, but the tense, well constructed 8 episodes that I know must remain have me waiting more eagerly than I have for any other show in memory.
Excellent.

Go Hank!

I actually liked the Crystal Blue Persuasion Montage. They really showed how pretty much any job can become drudgery....

I was very surprised that Walt made the decision to get out. So close.

Crystal blue persuasion ...nice ...how long have they been holding back on using the song and how did we not see this coming?

Just when I was ready to say "I'm out" on the show they deliver a solid winner. Aside from a few minor complaints was a thoroughly satisfying finale for me.

p.s.- I can already hear the locks being popped in a mysterious wave of storage locker break-ins that occur this week : )

Quick question: where did all the $$$ in the storage locker come from? From Walt's latest sales???

For a finale I found it slow paced. and not nearly enough of Jesse :( hate how he got the shaft this season.

the ending was good though.

Not the best episode.

Some prominent mirrors in this ep: Walt looking into the mirror on the wardrobe doors after replacing the sarin in the wall socket and then later at the motel meeting with the jail murdering crew. Walt's contemplation of the painting made me think that there was a tiny camera in it and the big mirror next to it on the same wall made me think of one of those two way mirrors in an interrogation unit. Was there a mirror shot of Walt just before he noticed the towel dispenser he'd punched up? And then the mirror in the bathroom just before Hank made his discovery.

Wow, the look of this episode neared perfection. The editing was insane, the transitions near awe-inducing, the sound was top notch and the camera work!

The technical aspect has been great this season!

In any case, the montage stood out to me. The prison murders were great, likely inspired by The Godfather, but different touches with it. I loved it all; the look was simple and crisp and.. cannot wait until next season!

Out? There is no out. Phoenix guys won't sit still for a sudden shut-down of their supply chain, and Todd can't run the operation on his own.

But Hank, that's another story.

"I wrote that, Hank. I bought the book and wrote what was in the notebook for fun."

Ok, he won't buy that. But I'm sure Walt can think of something.

What hard evidence against Walt is there?

Although I suppose it wouldn't take much connecting the dots once the fact that W.W actually is very possibly Walter White aka Heisenberg. Gambling? Really, that obvious tension between Skyler and Walt. I just wonder what the heck Hank is gonna do.

I was kind of meh all season. Until now. That last few minutes made the entire half season worth it - I realize now that I just wanted Hank to finally have a clue, an inkling of who Walt is. So that reveal was like the biggest, best, most satisfying O I've ever had.

I (yet again) felt so sorry for Jesse when he didn't shoot Walt, like he should have, even though Walt wasn't actually coming to kill him, like he thought.

Also, am I alone in thinking Lydia's smarts are pretty hawt? She was actually completely right that Walt was going to murder her in public in a restaurant and managed to talk her way out of it.

I've always loved the song Crystal Blue Persuasion, so it was great hearing it here. They must have been saving it. Perfect.

I loved the montage with scenes dissolving into scenes, people into other people. All the connections.

I was glad that Hank and Marie want Skyler & Walt to take their kids back. I never liked the speculation that Hank & Marie wanted to keep the kids for themselves.

I was very surprised that Walt made the decision to get out. So close.

Some astute commenters on this board previously pointed out that Walt's profits from the meth business would be so high that it would be impossible to launder all the money, which is exactly what Skyler pointed out when she was showing Walt the money pile. I assumed that that in part informed Walt's decision. Also, if the cancer's back, maybe Walt wanted to spend his remaining time repairing his family, as Marie put it, rather than earning more money than he could ever spend.

I had no idea that the Czech Republic had a huge meth market. The More You Know!
