Hi. Another Brandon fan, here. Who promises to be as wild as he was.

Oh, joy.

Shallow, possibly unkind note: is this guy suffering some sort of medical problem? What is the matter with his face? I've never seen someone make that face before. On the other hand, if he's just a douche, he might be the biggest douche this show has seen since...well, last season.

SURVIVOR Contestant You Are Most Like: Brandon. If you all thought he was wild, wait till ya’ get a load of me!

...who thought Brandon was wild? Wildness was kind of the...exact opposite of the point with Brandon? I'm picturing this guy: "If you thought Sonja was a challenge monster..."

I’m very outgoing and can have a conversation with the President or a crack head.

Why do I get the feeling he's done a lot more of the latter than the former?

Part of me was looking forward to laughing at him all season. I mean, come on, the Frankenstein thing alone is fucking comedy gold. But he was also kind of growing on me. Got to confess, I'm not only sorry to see him go, but not entirely sure how ironically that sentiment is intended.
Or maybe it's just that I prefer pretty much anybody to King Russ.

I'm thankful for Zane. The stigma of being eliminated first in a season is tough. It's too bad the first out is often someone who's nice and/or a good challenge competitor but just happens to get left out of a stupid clique. But Zane really, really earned the first boot. But Zane's world class stupidity, I had to smile at him getting the boot.

Oh, I don't deny that he earned it. Not only did he play his hand way too heavily by making alliances with everybody on Day One, while bragging about how ready he was to BREAK alliances, but also...
Really? The one time in your life that you manage to be really articulate and persuasive is when you're going on and on about how shitty you were in the challenge?
I'm not contesting their choice, only the fact that it left me stuck with Not The Leader.

Oh Zane, sometimes you got to know when to shut up. Bet if he didn't say a peep about his performance no one would have bothered to look at him.

I pretty much have to echo everything that has been said about him. I am not sure how pointing out that you sucked at the challenge is a way to advance you in the game. Or how anyone could think it would advance them in the game.

One episode, two bad moves, three cheers for him leaving early. I am not a fan of people who think they are great at something but clearly are not.

There's a line Zane says about playing chess and uttering "King me!" that makes me think of the immortal Zapp Brannigan quote- "If we can hit that bull's-eye, the rest of the dominoes will fall like a house of cards... Checkmate."

I don't think Zane knows how to play chess.

I'm just grateful I don't have to listen to him talk any more this season. Most merciful premiere elimination ever.

If nothing else, it's great to see the first boot be a man again after eight seasons of female first boots.

I really don't know how the hell Zane could've taken himself from a safe position within his tribe to the first boot of the game. Oh, wait. Yes, I do. He put the target on himself in a misguided attempt to lull Russell into a false sense of security. And then spilled about his idol suspicions, causing his tribe to not vote for Russell, but instead for him.

The editors did a pretty good job of setting up his boot, though. Good job to all who were involved.

Oh, Zane, you will be one of the most memorable first boots ever in Survivor.

Someone in the episode thread wondered if he wanted to go home. I think that is a possibility after watching him in the challenge.

One complete nerd note: Frankenstein's monster did not strangle the little girl, but rather threw her in the lake. Getting something so basic to the movie wrong makes me think Zane went to all the trouble and expense of getting that tattoo without ever having seen (or at least paid attention to) the movie it's based on.

Sure, Zane sucked in the challenge, but they weren't in last place when he allowed Russell to drag him onto the beach. So while he performed poorly he wasn't being pinned as the reason they lost. He could have slipped under the radar if he wanted.

Russell had worked so hard to be the first boot and Zane stole it from him.

I somewhat suspect that Zane may have deliberately shot himself in the foot because of nicotine withdrawal. For some who try to quit smoking cold turkey, those first few days without nicotine can be really rough physically and psychologically. A person trying to quit can become somewhat manic and he displayed some manic qualities in the footage we saw.

The real question is:
will the first two people in Loser's Lodge produce a music video in which they sing "Puttin' on the Ritz?"

When he started talking about chess, I was thinking to myself "Is he even smart enough for chess? Maybe he means checkers" so when he said "king me" I nearly died - however I do think he was being facetious with that remark.

I kind of enjoyed him. My heart did break when he was voted out.

I'm not surprised he got voted out and talk about a stupid gambit to try and get Russell out everybody took his ploy at face value and decided he wanted to go so they voted him out; quitting smoking on the day you entered the game was also a very stupid move no wonder he sucked physically at the IC.
