In the lack of a proper subforum to date, I hope this is okay to start here. We did sports in the Beijing subforum, so let's do something different this time - the cauldron lightings. Barcelona will probably win anyway (because EPIC), but I'd be curious to see how the other Olympics compare. The below list shows summer and winter games since 1976, since that's the first year of "gimmick" cauldron lightings.
If you haven't played a Survival Game before, the rules are simple. If an lighting is on the top list, you can either give or take two points from its score, however you can only give or take points from three lightings in a single post, and you can't post more than once within any twelve hour period (normally twenty-four hours, but we have to get through this before the games end). When a lighting runs out of points, it gets moved to the bottom list. Once half the lightings (here, ten of them) are in the bottom list, you can only give ONE point to lightings, but can still take away two. Last one left wins.
If you haven't seen any of these they're all on Youtube, although I could only find the last part of Beijing's lighting.

Snide Asides, great idea!!! However, you neglected to take two points from Nagano in your initial totals list (I've fixed it here).
(And, FWIW, as someone who was *AT* Nagano, the torch lighter was Midori Ito, world & Olympic figure skater. Nagano is in the middle of nowhere, even by Japanese standards, and even though the ceremony may not fare well in this poll, I just want to say that seeing this ceremony was an amazing experience - it totally worked for Japan & the Japanese people, but not globally. CBS cut out, in my estimation, 60% for its broadcast, and left out some of the best parts.) That being said (sorry Nagano!)...

++ Sydney: Was watching this in my College in Adelaide, & started tearing up with everyone else
++ London: Non-traditional, but still very thematic & crazy awesome.

++Salt Lake City - Team USA 1980 was meh (the whole team on the platform but only 2-3 guys could get their hands on the torch that actually lit the cauldron?), but I thought the cauldron itself was stunning
++Torino - I'm a sucker for fireworks displays
++Nagano - Gotta prop them for the great show I saw in person, which did not translate well at all to TV (see my first post)

London ++ I love the concept of each country having a petal, and the execution was flawless.

Aurora Borealis - You seem to have subtracted 2 points from Lillehammer on the list, even though it wasn't one of your 3 choices. You did the same with London. You also chose to subtract 2 from Seoul but didn't change the list. So I'm fixing all that below. SnideAsides - As gamemaster, could you please verify the changes. Hope I got it right. Ta.
