The Walt Whitman volume was a tiny little reminder of Gale.

The little “you cook, I handle the business” speech reminded me very powerfully of the thing that Walt said to Jesse early on. My guess is that I wasn't the only person to think that, from the look that Jesse and Walt exchanged.

I think the pest bombing cover was a great idea.

“Shall we take a vote? “Why?” shows more of Walt's chilling side.

The nanny cam could have had them undone – how did Todd know it was there? And what if there are others? And is this some kind of precursor to what will actually be their undoing?
and
And on the subject of precursors, at last Scarface enters the world of Walter White. And the line in Scarface about how everyone died in this one – could that be the future?

When Anna Gunn brings it she brings it. All three of her scenes were amazing. The look of fear and horror on her face throughout the episode. When she realized the Walt was moving back in. The breakdown in front of Marie. And finally walking in and watching her husband and son watch the end of ScarFace. When Walt said, "Everyone dies in this movie, don't they?" (I might be paraphrasing.) You could see the sheer terror on her face.

One last thing; that was kinda mean Walt telling Marie about Ted.

That scene with Walt/Brock was chilling.

and Walt is forever messing up Jesses love life Wtf Walt. Though Jesse/Walt hanging out was kinda cute Lol.

Of course Walt would throw Skyler under a bus.

and their new meth operation is kinda smart.

Walt and his son & infant daughter watching "Scarface" when Skyler walks out with the look of terror and fear in her face.

Classic, Walt's transformation from Mr. Chips to..Scarface..is complete. Especially when he says the "Everyone dies in this movie".

These guys are burglars, they'd have to know to look out for them. A very clever idea to make the lab mobile without packing it into an RV.

Also: Skinny Pete has talent!!

Well looks like Walt ain't too happy with Mike and this is our conflict. Stuck in the middle looks like Jesse as he goes back to sadness with Andrea over again. My guess is this conflict escalates in the final 8th episode. The episode titles this season in this context are so damn obvious, but with this show i have learned its never the case but based on those titles rather than placate those guys that might squeal they may just take em out, Walt tells mike ill buy you out and we are all good. Of course there is always Hank lurking in the background to ruin any plans. Somebody is gonna die this season. Can't help but feel its gonna be Skylar with Chekhov's ricin again.

That was a great cover idea. You move around, never the same place, you don't own the place where the cooking happens, if something is discovered, can always blame it on the unwitting homeowner

The Scarface scene was chilling, plus a cheap ad for AMC showing all mob movies this week

I actually agreed with Walt on paying him Gus' former guys. I don't see why he and Jessie should have to do that. Do they even know who Walt and Jesse are? Not sure about that, but its more Mike's problem than their problem.

Still a pretty tidy sum for one cook, over $100K. Is that a week? That was the schedule before I think, so thats still $5million a year or more.

It makes sense to me, the more the DEA learns about Gus the closer they get to Walt and Jesse. Even if they only inch closer it'd be too close for me.

Gotta be foreshadowing. One of those lines I think we will catch on repeated viewings after the finale and wince a bit at how on the nose it was. When I rewatch the earlier episodes (esp. season two) I can really see how rich with foreshadowing the show is.

So wait. Did Walt realize that by advising Jesse to shit or get off the pot with the Andrea situation he would bring about their breakup? i guess so, because it is SO very un-Walt to encourage Jesse to let some chick into their business. Walt let Jane die mostly because she knew too much and could expose them.

Walter White is the greasiest motherfucker on TV. Don't get me wrong, he's the best too. He mindfucks Jesse for the umpteenth time. He throws all the blame for Skylar's breakdown back on Skylar. I can't even decide which of those actions is more appalling. Walt is such a piece of garbage when it comes to Jesse. If Jesse doesn't kill Walt or rat him out (I prefer the former) at the end of the show, I'll be very disappointed. He sucks every bit of happiness out of him and plays him like a fiddle every time. When Jesse mentions breaking up with Andrea, Walt didn't even give a shit. His explanation to Marie was just disgusting. I've never liked Skylar, but I was just hoping she didn't hear Walt. You know this show has come a long way since the pilot when you're afraid that Andrea and Jesse left Walt alone with Brock. Walt can't even be trusted by a viewer to not do something awful to a child.

"Mike handles the business... I handle Mike." That line made me way too happy.

The entire cooking scene from the planning stages to house fumigation was amazing television.

Mike's speech to the fumigation guys was great. "Their names are Yes Sir & No Sir".

Skinny Pete is a maestro?

ETA: In case you didn't realize, I thought this was a great ep.

The situation is Walt's fault. He killed Gus and blew up the lab. Just like with the plane crash, he has caused this to rain down on them all.

I'm with Mike (and Jesse) on this. It's a lot of money. Walt is greedy and doesn't want to share. Mike doesn't seem to care all that much about money. It took Jesse explaining to Walt that they actually got a bigger piece of the pie, but the pie was a lot smaller than when they were cooking for Gus. They are employers now, not employees.

Jesse also solved the problem early on about bringing the equipment into the house. This and his reasoning to Walt about the money shows how sharp he has become. He's come a long way.

So wait. Did Walt realize that by advising Jesse to shit or get off the pot with the Andrea situation he would bring about their breakup?

I think so. That was such a sneaky way of doing it. I wonder if Walt did it mainly because he's uncomfortable with Brock around.

That scene with Skyler yelling Shut up was fantastic. I was chilled, and then I was again chilled when she walked in on the family watching Scarface. That was a little too on the nose for me, but still a good scene.

Great ep.

Saul needs to have his own show. Every scene with him makes me love this show even more (like that's even possible). Saul reminds me of a character that might have appeared on The Rockford Files. Hilarious.

Good to see Landry.

I didn't understand Walt's comments at the end.

Anna Gunn really brought it.

Walt asking Brock about his hospital stay made me sick to my stomach.
Skyler is a woman on the verge. Not good.

I'll have to rewatch, but the end kind of confused me.
Walt was talking about Victor flying too close to the sun?
Was that a veiled reference to eliminating Mikes guys?

Their new mobile cooking caravan idea is not a good one: Now four more guys (the pest control company) know at least something about them, including who Walt and Jesse are on sight. Assembling and disassembling the lab has to be way more work than they're letting on. And, finally, way too many variables with families, nosy neighbors, street traffic, neighborhood watch, etc., of the host houses, as we saw with the last-minute nanny-cam removal. Yes, easy plausible deniability if someone discovers the lab--unless Jesse and Walt are present, in which case, they are quite, quite screwed. I think this is an idea that's too clever by half.

And, yes, amazing acting by Anna Gunn, but this was a textbook case of what procedures can do to your acting equipment; her upper lip had a mind of its own in the breakdown scene. Very distracting.

Yeah, I didn't get Walt's final speculations about Victor. What's the message Walt is trying to send to Jesse?

I didn't understand Walt's comments at the end.

I think he was hinting at killing Mike if Mike got too big for his britches, in Walt's view. Walt was saying that he thinks Gus killed Victor not to send Walt a message, but because Victor did a cook on his own, and Gus didn't like his hubris. (Pot, meet kettle.)

Loved the scenes with Saul, as usual. It was great how he was so pleased with each location, and then Jesse and Walt shot holes in them all -- "Hell no" to the Lazer Tag place. Hee. Walt coming up with the plan as he saw the fumigation tents was brilliant.

Nice to see Huell, Badger, and Skinny Pete. Wow on the keyboard.

Love the cook scene, set to "On a Clear Day." Some really interesting and mesmerizing shots.

Who's Landry?

Shut up! Shut up! Shut up! was just an awesome scene. Will Marie share that little tidbit from Walt about her sister with Hank?

Great idea for the new meth-cooking location(s). Will the new guy be punished for daring to speak to "yes sir and no sir"?

Walt's continuous mind-fuck of Jesse is getting harder to watch. And there's no way that Walt and Mike will be able to keep from clashing. Walt's ego is just too big and reckless.

The blond actor playing the new character Todd from the pest control company played a (beloved) character on Friday Night Lights named Landry.

And is it weird that my first thought when we saw the insect closeup was "peeayebee!" Yup, weird. Sorry. :)

Penman61: IA that the mobile meth unit seems like a half baked solution to a long term problem.
There are just too many outside variables to control the operation effectively.

Walts ego & arrogance are unsufferable. It will destroy him.
I'm kind of shocked that Jesse broke up with Andrea.
I kept waiting for him to ask Walt: how much does Skyler know?

As always: I love Mike.

Brilliant directing choice to include the shot of Walt pouring in the aluminum shards during the cook, alluding to Victor's solo batch ("Bet you he forgets the aluminum") which then got brought up in the final scene.

The downside of the new cook setup is that they're limited by the size of the hospital tent inside the house, this solution is difficult to scale up as needed.

Great episode. Ditto on Anna Gunn bringing it in her curiously-muted role for the third episode in a row AND who knew Skinny Pete could play like that?

I'm no Walt fan, and it's getting worse given his manipulations of Jesse and Marie this episode. But Mike does seem to be taking certain liberties that are more about saving his own ass and to hell with Jesse and Walt. Walt was right that 20% is a big cut for the drivers, and for Mike to be so sure none of his guys are going to roll on them, he's trying to make sure they're paid up.

Great ep, this story is so amazing!

I noticed the fly crawling around when Walt and Jesse were weighing the meth, the fly seems to be making cameos! It has to be a metaphor.

The idea of this new cooking method is quite interesting but I agree with a prior comment - the setup and break down each time must be time consuming and I'd think a hindrance to the perfection Walt or Jesse bring to the table. Also the exhaust of the cooking fumes, look someone in law enforcement is going to smell this sooner or later. They have no idea whose house is next door or across the street, this seems like a problem in real life but maybe not in the show. I'm surprised Landry spoke to Walt, they were told not to talk to Walt or Jesse unless spoken to. There was no reason to inform Walt about the nanny cam, they deactivated it and that's all that mattered.

Also the mountain of money was turned into mole hill! I think Walt is way too greedy, these expenses must be paid. Mike need to buy their silence and make them whole so it is a business expense, sucks but that's how it is. You can already see Walt making trouble in the business side that Mike wants total control of. Trouble is coming, those comments about Victor flying too close to the sun is threatening Mike's authority. Walt's ego is writing checks he can't cash.

What, bugs are my shoutout? Maybe just the invisible ones. :D

Thanks for the reminder on who "Landry" is. Maybe some day I'll watch FNL.

I'd heard it before, but I LOVED when Mike said, "Just because you shot Jesse James doesn’t make you Jesse James." Fantastic line.

He sure was uneasy in the jail. I assume this ties back to whatever happened back in Philly.

I know Walt was talking about the bug bomb, but when he was saying, "We bomb the place, and we leave," for a second I thought he was going to bomb -- as in boom! -- each house. Maybe one day.

Mike is treating Jesse, Walt, and himself as equal partners, just like Walt had proposed. Walt had really planned on using Mike as an employee, so I love how Mike is doing what was agreed upon, and thus pissing Walt off.

The Three Stooges. Nice touch.

One possible bit of foreshadowing I noticed: When Walt and Jesse are watching TV after their first cook, they are watching The Three Stooges. The on-screen action starts off with a guy in a gorilla suit firing a machine gun. Since we know that these on-screen clips have some significance, I have a strong(er) feeling we're going to see the weapon from episode 5.1 get fired at some point.

So was Walt's message at the end directed toward Jesse? That's how I took it. Walt was upset with Jesse speaking up about the money and telling Mike to take his share. Was it his was of warning Jesse that he, like Victor, is expendable?
