Since I didn't see a forum for Haunted Highway, I'm thinking I might be the only person watching this show, another of Syfy's "We don't find anything while scaring ourselves in the woods." coughDestinationTruthcough

I watched the first episode, and hated it. It's no Destination Truth, that's for sure. Josh Gates might be the only thing that could save this. And that's doubtful.

Was the first episode with the Native Americans' Darkman? I caught it by accident. I only liked that segment. The extinguishing of the fire kinda creeped me out. Especially since there was no one, and the area around it was dry. I was hella laughing when the horses were spooked, ran off, and they had to hike for 4 hours back. I switched channels when the one in CA with Jack Osbourne came on. Boring as hell.

I saw that one episode mentioned by Sleepyhead Case. I would definitely add it my DVR list since I love those paranormal shows, but it must be finished for the season. Will it be back?

I watched it this week. The "Ozark Howler" case (supposedly a giant cat creature, a.k.a., a mountain lion) was ridiculous. "These human footprints stop at the riverside and animal footprints start at the other!" Because, you know, people and animals can't walk down/upstream. The wild assumptions the "investigators" make just slay me, and the fact that they apparently do zero research into the indigenous wildlife of the areas they're investigating. I see this being on for six episodes and never coming back.

The Darkman episode I think is the second show so far. Jack Osbourne segments are boring.

Shame on the people who tortured those dogs and left them to die at the mines. Having said that, NO WAY would I go deep into a cave to look for the Hell Hounds!! The one guy tells the story of a cow being completely mutilated in less than 3 minutes and they still off into the darkness, into a cave, and their only defense is Jack's knife.

The skin stealer was equally creepy. What was Devin supposed to do if Jael's soul was suddenly taken?

I really don't get how Jael and Devin take part in any of this without an extreme amount of skepticism. They have done this stuff before. I do realize that actually being out alone in the woods, desert or swamps, what have you, in the middle of the night, in the dark, would really creep you out and play with your senses, but I can't watch this show without constantly going, "Really?!?" Case in point: the "sulfur" scent in the case in Savannah, which is on the coast. The ocean smells of sulfur. The only thing I thought was odd was the "cold spot" in the tent.

Jack and Dana were not smart to go into the cave that could've collapsed at any time. I didn't buy the lantern "mysteriously" falling, as it was on the edge of the rock on which it sat. I don't know how they aren't embarrassed showing to the expert (professor, etc.) the thermal camera footage of the coyote or whatever "mysterious cryptid" they capture.

I enjoy watching paranormal shows (and do so often), but with my limited knowledge on the subject, even I can tell when something's hooey. "We can't rule out something paranormal." Uh, yeah, you can.

Like when the ghost orbs are obviously a bunch of dust or bugs? I love that.

Holy crap. Any respect I ever had for Jael and Devin is gone (and there wasn't much to begin with).

The Louisiana Swamp Woman? How about you jackasses do a little bit of research about wildlife and maybe listen to some bird calls before going on an investigation? Then you might realize that the screaming was a COMMON LOON and they are quite COMMON in Louisiana. Google 'Common Loon Audio', dickweeds, and then listen to the calls. I'm no ornithologist, but I recognized the damn screaming as a loon right off the bat. Googling to remind myself of the 'screaming' sound just confirmed that it had to be a loon. So much for research.

I think when I start yelling "SOMEONE PULL THE NOOSE! PULL IT AND PUT US ALL OUT OF OUR MISERY!" at Devin with the noose around his neck, it's gone beyond ridicule and it's seriously just time to stop watching.

This has been my complaint about the whole season. Oh, and "Investigators"? Talking to three townspersons outside the local diner isn't research.

I found myself relieved to not have Jack Osbourne and Dana Whatshername this week.

The "cemetery haunting" case was interesting, though I find it very disrespectful to pull stunts like Devin did with putting the noose around his neck. I and others believe that spirits and ghosts were once people and therefore someone's family member. I think about how it would feel if it were my passed-on family member that someone was mocking/taunting/harassing.

Watching him do that filled me with UGH.

OK so I just watch the "Silver City Ghost Town/Shunka Warakin" Ep. and I just have to ask, seriously, is this shit faked??? Because the sheer AMOUNT of paranormal activity that occurs during a single episode of HH is extraordinarily more than the norm. The door coming UNLATCHED and opening, TWICE?? The light fixture SWINGING in plain sight, TWICE??? The rocking chair ROCKING in pain sight??? The isolation door in the Masonic hall SLAMMING SHUT and locking in plain sight??? WTF!!!????

I need to know what other die-hard ghost show watchers are thinking because as we can all attest... activity like this is usually rare. But on this show its plentiful, AM I RIGHT???

Oh I'm leaning toward faked. It's just SO convenient. How come other shows never have this level of activity? I don't get it.I also don't get Jack Osbourne's pulling out of this show due to his MS but then thinking he can do a military boot camp type show. That also doesn't add up.
Adding to my jaundiced view of this mess is that the "hosts" have been on so so many other goofy shows. I watch because it's entertainingly silly, not because I believe they actually see anything supernatural. I guess I just want to see how much they can delude themselves.

Thank you BelleCurve, good to know I'm not the only one! I tried researching it online but they've covered their tracks pretty well. Its not like they are professional paranormal investigators and their reputation is at stake. They are actors first and foremost. I guess I need to remember that.

IMO, the "Silver City Ghost Town" segment was pretty much the best this show offered, even if it was rather hard to believe. When Syfy was running promos for the show before it aired, the ghost town segment and the cemetery haunting were what I expected, not "waiting in the swamps/desert for a creature". I felt led to believe it was going to be an Americana, Route 66, "what scary ghost stories are we going to find on the ol' dusty trail" (Haunted Highway)? I kind of feel misled (as if I couldn't have stopped watching at any time). Ha!

Maybe it was trying to be a cross between Ghost Hunters and Destination Truth. If so, it needed a different name.

Did anyone else notice that the Masonic lodge had a for-sale sign by the door? Good luck with that, owner guy.

In regards to Jael's and Devin's professions, on Facebook, Jael calls herself a "Producer, Writer, Actor, TV Personality", and there is a looong bio (the word "fashionista" is used ::eyeroll::). She was a model from age four and has a background in reporting. On Twitter, she says she's an "Avid traveler, spontaneous adventurer. Fashion, Arts and Culture lover. Professional monster hunter."

On his Facebook profile, Devin says that he's a "Gadget/Technology/Special FX/Actor/Host/Producer/Filmmaker Guy". I find it interesting that he says, "Now as a self made producer with over a decade of experience in filmmaking and special FX he has become highly proficient at deciphering video, photographic, and practical paranormal hoaxes as well as accurately replicating such cases." I assume he's referring to "replicating...cases" on Fact or Faked, but one could also make the leap that he "replicates" events on Haunted Highway.

Pardon me now while I go out and get the life I so clearly need.

Don't feel too bad. At least you aren't posting the equivalent of a resume on Facebook and Twitter, as it seems Jael and Devin are doing. I fully acknowledge the usefulness of both in the job search, but for the purpose of making contacts and networking;. Not for posting resumes. It's not like a Hollywood producer is going to see Jael's FB or Twitter profile, smack his head, and mutter "I could have used a great TV personality and professional monster hunter in my last film! She would have been so much better than Charlize Theron! Now Charlize is going to win another Oscar when I could have given this Jael girl a chance. She's HUNTED YETIS, FOR GOD'S SAKE!"

Well to defend Jael and Devin <ahem> they surely are posting resumes because they know how short a stay this show is going to have. I mean, don't they know that it's ultimately doomed to failure?
