Between my college years, I worked in central WV.  It shocked me to see people with no roof having 4-Wheelers, game systems, etc.  It's generational poverty.  A nutritionist alone would be useless.  Thankfully, June set up accounts for all 5 girls to save the money in a trust fund thing.  She said (on WW) she doesn't even see it.  (doesn't see it, get it)

Alanna and dance class- If you guys saw interviews June and she did with news/talk shows I guess after last year she was a mess.  I think she has some form of ADD/ADHD (coupled with diet issues).  I'm surprised she did as well as she did.  It's interesting they aren't doing pageants since that's how they came into view.  A lot of reality TV is not blatant;y obvious when the producers set up a scene or feed a line.  However, the Boo Boo Clan, aren't actress/actor wanna bees.  Alanna's fat line, a set up.  She always delivers these with a trepidation not found in her natural speak.  It makes me laugh.

Pumpkin- Didn't know she was hit by lightening.  That kind of explains it.  She's a trip, for sure.

Anna/Jessica- Probably a little too old to be the focus.  (I want to see what they did w/Kaitlyn's thumbs.  We (not me) have a new baby with major polydactyl digits.  I liked Jess and Phil.  They are cute.

June/Sugga- The poster who says she found the weight?  This was filmed as she lost the weight.  She looks better.  However, she says they didn't alter the diet really, more being out and about.  I get it a little better why she can let her feet be as they are because she can't see how really bad they are.  Sugga, what else can be said?  He's a genuine man.  Wants to show his daughters how a man acts, how nice.  (If I didn't have one as decent as Sugga, I'd send him to pre-husband boot camp w/Sugga)

In general---Guys, I know so many families like this.  I love so many families like this.  I prefer these over the Duggar/Roloff/Kate.  They are losing some of the rawness they had but they were so raw, it's barely effective yet.  Today, I came home to sister house cleaners named "Tatey and Sis."  I do say, the food is gaggable a lot of the time but it's cheap and what they are accustomed to.  (I don't say afford because that's incorrect)  It's refreshing (dare I say) to see a family genuinely unrefined.  They take care of each other, love each other, and take joy in serving the community.  I hope they can remain connected and fresh (and learn a bit about fresh fruit, veg., etc.). I finally caught last weeks 2 episodes and tonights 2 episodes and I don't know what they are doing differently but I was on the floor laughing.  I swear Alana is hysterical, from her this is Pumpkin fried and this is Pumpkin not fried, lmao, to the lady in the pawn shop asking what size ring did they want and Alana saying, "sausage size".  This show is funny as hell.  I also thought June in the chair dancing and then, "I think I threw my back out" lol was a riot.  hehehe

And I didn't think Alana was that bad in the dance studio.  I only saw one instance where she didn't really pay attention.  Otherwise they showed her standing at the mirror making faces while in the background no one was dancing, maybe a break?  And then they had free style dance and her and the little girl next to her had a ball.  She's only 6 right?  Not sure.  But I can't fault a little girl from having fun.  :)))

I also got very worried when Sugie got taken away by ambulance and they said he was in ICU and they put him under.  Very scary.  Started that way with my Mom and she never came home. :((  Best Wishes Sugie!! :)

SB is just the sweetest, most easy-going man. He'd HAVE to be, to put up w/ this bunch. He really wanted an official marriage, but he was happy to take the commitment ceremony. Bless his heart.

Pumpkin eating an apple! I was so glad to see that! Keep it up!

I'm glad they're trying to get healthier. It's going to be a LONG road for them. It seems right now they think they can make little changes, and that's fine. But if they really want to get that weight off, get healthy and stay healthy - they will have to overhaul their lifestyle. Pumpkin doesn't want to give up soda, but she really should. Liquid calories add up fast. She would be surprised how much weight she could lose by switching to water. June's the mom - just don't buy soda anymore.

And the working out....oh my....at least they were moving. But seeing all those people cramped into that tiny room was just silly. Go outside!

They just need to change their mentality towards food. Food was even the biggest part of planning the wedding. The way they were talking, they should just get married at a Golden Corral.

And.....did that wedding planner have teeth? What was going on there????

When they were discussing who to invite I was cracking up! Pork Chop, Boxcar, Catfish, Niblet.....do they have any friends w/ real names???? I liked how June said - "I just don't want to invite anyone who's going to show their ass". Well, leave your daughters at home.

Moving on to the kids driving. Yikes! SB was right - I'd take out a HUGE life insurance policy.

How ridiculous that Anna still hasn't passed the written test to get her permit. She has a child to take care of. I like how she said - "Big deal Jessica passed her drivers test, I created a life. Who else can do that?". Um....Jessica. And any other man or woman who has sex (give or take a few). She is really a moron.

Wow. Never knew there were so many fart games. Didn't really need to.

It was nice seeing how tender June was w/ SB at the hospital. It's kind of sad that it takes him having a health scare to bring that out. It's obvious she does really love him, but he deserves to be shown more in daily life.

Best part of the entire episode = when SB threw the water at June on the couch!

I love this family, too.  I find myself laughing with them rather than at them.  I cracked up at the expression on Pumpkin's face when she was bouncing on the ball and then went flying off of it.

The doorknob game was stupid but most honest sibling groups will tell you they had an equally stupid, makes-no-sense-to-anyone-but-us game that was born from boredom.

I loved SB's reaction to June agreeing to the commitment ceremony..."that a great big W for the Bear!"  His childhood pictures were interesting.  There's no way he could ever deny Alana because she's his little clone.

And to June and SB for the record - no kid wants to hear that their parents first date was for a "hook 'em and book 'em."  Please let me say for children everywhere....EWWWWW.

When they were discussing who to invite I was cracking up! Pork Chop, Boxcar, Catfish, Niblet.....do they have any friends w/ real names????

Mr Angeltoes is 61 and his roster of friends (all grown men) is just like that.  We have Big Head, Speed Bump (because he does nothing in a hurry), Dink, The Iguana, The Legend (for his history with the ladies), Boudreax (their refined way of saying the guy's original nickname of Buddy) and Tater Head.  There are no Bills or Steves in the south.

I laughed whenever June would talk about the "wedding" and all the girls would point at her and say "WEDDING!!!"

And yeah, what was up with the wedding planner's teeth?  Part of me wanted TLC to hire her to plan the event, if for no other reason than to see her deal with the clan.  It would be kind of like when they had that poor woman show up to teach etiquette.

June claims that Sugar Bear is her "second longest relationship." She's been with Sugie for nine and a half years and the man before him (Pumpkin's dad, I assume) for five years.  So the camera guy says, "So Sugar Bear is your longest realtionship," and June said, "Yes. My second longest." She meant that while he is the longest relationship she's ever had, it's the second time she's been in a long term relationship. Thus, "second-longest."

It took the camera guy/producer a few tries to get it.

The producer got it; June didn't. He finally said, "I think we're speaking a different language." (or something like that, I don't transcribe or record this show, good lord). June may be savvy in some ways, but basically she is dumb as a sack of bricks. Gawd.

They're getting worse because now they're playing up their worst traits for the camera. The spitting, farting, mumbling, belching, ugh. I was hoping they would engage in some sort of self-improvement, given they're celebrities, but instead they revel in their basest, tackiest behaviours. They're an embarrassment to themselves and who/whatever they represent regionally/nationally.

I'm glad they're trying to get healthier.

Are they? I saw a lot of lazy lying around, on beds and couches, falling asleep in the middle of filming - what is the matter with them? Plus, giant plastic jars of cheese balls on the bed. Ugh, so gross. I don't understand what that boyfriend sees in the BooBoo girl (don't know their names) - she's not attractive or charming or smart or even pleasant. I can't imagine my reaction if my son came home with a girlfriend who was obese, slovenly, unmannered and kind of stupid. That boyfriend better watch out or he will be forever tied, via paternity, to this family. But he probably just wants his 15 minutes of fame.

9:30 PM   2.552 M and a 1.0 rating.

I thought the wedding planner was the best part of the show.  I did question her minimum charge being over $3000 if the average wedding is $10,000.  Isn't that on the steep side?

I don't think the producer did get it. If he did, he would've said, "Oh, you mean 'second long,' not 'second longest.'" June understood what he was saying; she just wanted to clarify that she's been in a long-term relationship before.

I must have missed the new episodes. I don't usually watch this show, but, I was bored. However, I take anti-seizure meds and notice my dreams are crazy and weird. A few nights ago I dreamed that I was bowling with the Boo Boos. I happened to flip this darn show on and low and behold they were bowling. Freaked me out. So, am I to assume that June did not agree to officially marry Sugar Bear, but, agreed to a Commitment Ceremony?

OR...she had another long term relationship that she didn't talk about. She's been with him X number of years, before him it was 5 years BUT she could have had another that was longer than the five year and SB.

I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt that she knew what she was talking about. Plus if he was trying to get her to say it correctly, I hate that crap, I hate when someone tries to correct me especially with my Baltimore accent and sayings. We have our own way of talking and slaughtering the English language much like any other state thank you very much, and while I may correct a child I would never correct an adult.

Well, the way she was saying it was confusing. She was saying that SB was her "second longest" relationship. To most people that would mean she'd been in one relationship that was longer than that. What SHE meant was that it was her second long-term relationship - she'd had one other long term before that, but it wasn't AS long as she'd been with SB. The "est" was confusing. If the producer hadn't asked her about, people would not have known what she meant. But yea, he probably could have let it go after asking one time. Although, I think highlighting their ignorance is another one of the "gimmicks" on this show.

Anyone remember the horrible lack of knowledge concerning the founding of this country during the Thanksgiving episode? YIKES.

If June and Pumpkin are really serious about losing weight then I wish TLC would set them up with a specialist that could help them  do a decent job with it.

Oh, and June? When you take all the cheese you want then you're supposed to put the tongs down not stand there and use them like an eating utensil. At least that's my opinion of how it works.

I think that was producer-driven, though.  Wasn't the line:  "Christopher Columbus sailed the ocean blue in nineteen-hundred forty-two ?

You'd be surprised. I watch a lot of those videos where comedians or lower-level newscasters go on the streets and ask people questions like that - regarding history or current events - and they have some absolutely ignorant answers. So yea, I absolutely believe they BooBoos really think stuff like that, or that oranges are pre-sliced and then put back in the peel.

For all their foibles, I like the Boo Boo clan. Granted they mug it up for the cameras but at the end of the day, it's obvious they do all care for each other genuinenly in whatever dysfunctional form that takes. I would love to see the Boo Boos sent on a cruise with the Kardashians... the real meets the fake. Talk about good TV.

Shermie, I too briefly wondered what Phil would be doing with the Boo Boo Crew.  Then I just accepted it.  The whole bunch obviously disgust you, but out of the oldest, Jess, Pumpkin--Jess is the closest to normal there is.

TLC found the niche with the BooBoo Crew.  To higher them a weight loss coach would be counterproductive to the brand.  Heck, if they weren't so completely who they are (I think I wrote above that I hope they are able to keep a bit of what has made them stars) we could of had all the TLC experts throw the wedding, etc.  However, these shows centered around family seems to be the way the market is going.

I believe unfortunately the Thanksgiving lines were not producer given.  None of the BooBoo Crew seem to me that they would be winning any awards for grades.  As I was typing this I thought, Oh man, to have to be a PA on this set.  Poor producers.

Why does TLC caption everything they say?  To set the scene or can people really not understand all they say?  I admit, some of the lines, mostly Sugga, I do have trouble with but not all of them.

Maybe Mama June needs to have a spin off on TLC budget weddings. TLC is full of wedding shows with budgets of 25-50k. The wedding planner told June the average was over 10k and her fee started at 3k? I know June's style is not what every bride would want but it might would be neat to see what others can pull of for $1500-2000. I know where I live most people use the church and the church hall(free). The church hall evens has all the tables, chairs, tablecloths, centerpieces and a full kitchen(free). Many people just bring food, favors, and music. With helpful family(like aunts that cook the food or cousin that help set up) I have seen many nice weddings for under 2500 pulled off and money used for down payments on a house instead. Even if it is not in a church like June's plan to hold hers in her yard it can be pulled off. I went to a wedding held in a barn, country theme, really fun time and it was barley 1k. I don't agree with everything the Boo Boo's do but I'm glad Mama June is showing America you do not need a 50k wedding(commitment ceremony) in a fancy event center to have a nice fun time celebrating with family and friends.

This is what endears the BBC to me.  TLC has tons at its disposal but June wanted to keep it real.  Not sure I'd want to see a spin off on June's decorating, but I like the concept.  However, I get the weddings with their insane budgets.  I say that in the sense that TV isn't real life, more of a break from the reality.  My real life is the church hall/barn/yard/whatever is affordable type wedding.  When planning, I say I want a marriage, not a wedding.  But for the girls who want both, those high end weddings are cool.

I enjoyed it when Sugga was proposing and June kept agitating about her stock pile.  That made me laugh.  How about the ring for under $500?  I know this will change as the BBC goes more Hollywood but it is so nice to see people mean it when saying the people are more important than the stuff.

I don't think June could ever go totally Hollywood. I also don't think June could ever wear a ring worth 10k(I wear my original small diamond because it meant so much when Mr. Spoons proposed, he bought me a huge ring for our 10th anniversary but the little diamond makes me smile more). I don't see June giving up giving back to others. I do see her dressing better, and getting a slow makeover(stuff like teeth not a new nose). I bet we see a new house before the series ending but as long as it is not over the top, maybe a decent spilt/tri-level type, I think that would be seen by viewers as a positive. I think deep down as much as June says she loves herself just the way she is, there is an insecure overweight teased young teen mom inside that still can't accept a man really loves her for her (and not just to get in her pants).

A friend knew I had recorded the scratch n sniff episodes so she brought over the card. She was afraid to do it by herself. LOL

First smell was baby powder when June was playing with baby Kaitlyn. Next we got the smell of diesel as the train went by. Actually, they did that smell twice. Biggest smell was the BBQ smell when she was making the pork and road kill dinner. The butter smell didn't really smell like butter, more perfumy than butter. There was the smell of gasoline and rubber when they went to the go-kart track. And finally, my favorite, the smell of a chocolate cupcake when Sugar Bear was trying to get frisky with June. That one really did smell like a Hostess chocolate cupcake to the point it made me want one.

Speaking of which, I wish she didn't treat him like a doormat sometimes.

You know what they say, every journey starts with one step forward.  They have to start SOMEWHERE - so hopefully this is it.  If not, then eventually - if they finally come to terms with their health, they may decide to change their eating habits and get moving.  Or maybe not.  [snip]

I do believe June's previous 'long term' relationship was with Jessica's father.   June has said she has no idea who is Pumpkin's father.  I'm glad she has met Sugar Bear.  He is a good man - it is obvious that he loves June and her girls and wants to do right by them.  I don't think June 'walks all over him' - she is what she is.  Some of us really do not act all lovey dovey but yet she loves him.  Her tenderness while he was at the hospital speaks volumes for me.  I do hope he'll be ok.
