"The Glass House," the exciting and interactive real life and real-time reality competition where viewers are in charge of the game, premieres MONDAY, JUNE 18 (10:00-11:00 p.m., ET) on The ABC Television Network. In "The Glass House," 14 contestants will live and compete for a quarter million dollars in a totally wired, state-of-the-art house, playing not just against each other, but also playing to win over the viewing audience each week. Both online and through their social networks, viewers will be encouraged to support and follow the contestants they like, their votes helping to determine which contestants are sent home and also which eliminated players will earn the chance to return to "The Glass House" to compete each week.

CBS is suing, so we'll see how that works out. If it makes it to air, we'll weecap it.

Seems very similar to the first few seasons of Big Brother. I am actually intrigued to see what the show will be like.

Caught a promo for it during General Hospital the other day that uses Rockwell's classic single "Somebody's Watching Me." Can't say that I'm not kind of intrigued. I enjoyed the first season of our Big Brother and its international versions, so I'll watch this solely because it's something different from CBS' current incarnation of their hit reality series. I just hope that they spice it up a little more than CBS did with BB's first season. All the fun people got voted out because America hated them, so literally the last month was just a bunch of boring folks staring at one another. I have no idea why I watched it until the end, but I remember being pretty wrapped up in it.

Meet 'The Glass House' Cast!

Compared to Big Brother, the contestants are trending older (ages 25-48), less drama-seeking (at least four self-proclaimed 'Good Girls/Guys), less conventionally attractive, and probably will make for boring TV. The only real conflict I can see is with Erika, the blonde who hates people who describes themselves saying "You either love me or hate me", and both Joy AND Gene, who both mention that very line in their casting videos.

It looks like ABC is going to need The Glass House and the voting audience to act as sadistic as possible in order to draw some excitement out of this cast. Erika, the blonde cocktail waitress (who "loves the gays", and describes her favorite color as "glitter") and Gene, the stuntman (who describes himself as "awesome" and claims to have a nickname of "Hollywood, because when I'm around, I make magic") looks to be the only ones willing to openly start a fight.

I don't think these intro video clips is enough for me to judge the playing field. So i'll at least catch the premiere episode to see if "Glass House" can hold my attention the way BB has over the years. I've also noticed this show seems to be airing once a week, opposed to BB's multiple airings per week. Its possible that could hurt the show.

I'm sort of excited for it. Especially since CBS is so bent out of shape over it. It's kind of hilarious.

The voting actually just started today. You can vote here.

The live streaming will be 11pm-3am est on Mondays and then Tuesday-Thursday from 3-4pm est.

I am excited for this show. My one qualm is the limited streaming. If they are going to copy Big Brother, they should get it right. For the record I don't think they are, CBS is full of shit.

I am excited about this show and how it will turn out.

I liked Stephanie; she is amazingly normal and smart, she will probably be gone first week. Andrea and Kevin I liked as well, but they will probably not last long. Robin, however, could be golden. She is batshit. I don't know what she was going on about, but she is entertainment. She's like an SNL skit.

All the "love me or hate me" talk in the videos was really annoying, but I figure it must've had something to do with the standard interview questions they had for each roomie.

Overall, many of these people did not impress me and mostly made me cringe, but I am interested to see how this goes compared to Big Brother. At least the house will be prettier to look at.

I am a true BB loyalist since episode 1, season 1 and I want to dislike this show. That said, I just finished the player intro videos and can see that they are trying to go for the early BB older skewing mix of contestants but they are mostly meh to me. My first thought is that I hope the way that the intros were shot, with that stedi-cam effect, is not indicative of the rest of the show because that was really unappealing.

Not speaking for me but in general, observations of why I think BB has been such a popcorn summer success in comparison to what this show is doing:

-- 24/7 feed -- if you want the audience to be participatory in all things happening in the house, you can't offer a limited look. People who watch this show in the "real time" aspect want to know what's happening all the time. I don't have the time to watch the feeds like I did 10 years ago, but I sure enjoy spending my limited free time watching highlights on YouTube and reading the fan sites with real time updates. There is no telling when drama is going the ensue. It is part of the fun. Otherwise, the show doesn't need to be real-time.

-- Bimbo cast members -- I appreciate that there are some mom and dad types and I, personally, don't love the overabundance of BB castmates who have been fake blonde, fake boob, Jesse and Rachel types, but they bring the drama and the party and the ratings (not to mention, they look good in bathing suits and appeal to the live feeders). No offense to the Glass House mates but some of them don't look like they should be on television at all, much less in bathing suits.

I loved season one of BB because they were real people to me. Plus, the concept of the show was new and reality TV had not gotten to be what it is today. I would spend afternoons cleaning my house with the feed up, just listening to real conversations. Since the audience voted for nominations and evictions, there was no scheming and no alliances, just real talk. It also made for what is considered to be "boring" television. I imagine that is going to be the case here.

The lawsuit should be interesting. Exec Producer Kenny Rosen admitted in his deposition last week that he used the Big Brother "bible" and the master control list (that he obtained during his several years as an EP on Big Brother) to determine what positions he would need to hire for Glass House, among other things. This is a big no-no as far as the non-disclosure agreement and trade secret misappropriation. We all know that copyright infringement is not the biggest problem that ABC has here. It's the senior executives and dozens of former BB staffers. That's like being a manager at a Starbucks and then deciding to leave and take half your staff of baristas with you to open a new coffee shop across the street. The address and name is different but the staff and operation look the same from the inside. It doesn't guarantee success because people know and love Starbucks. It may be more expensive and taste the same, but it's tried and true.....

Can't wait to see what happens. I will be watching. Oh, by the way, someone from my somewhat small suburban city is finally on one of these shows. Andrea. I hope she is worth rooting for.

EDIT: I logged on to the main site and the live feed is up and the house mates are doing some matching game based on polls that they audience is taking. I tuned in a bit late so I am not sure what the point is. And there are suitcases all around with some people all made up. I can only assume that they just moved in to the house either today or yesterday. I am somewhat bored so far.. Is it okay to comment on the feeds now or do we have to wait until the show airs on Monday? And, btw, there is a graphic up that says the live feed is up from 3-4pm est. I imagine that is when they will be doing challenges or some sort of activity worth watching.

I love Big Brother but I'm still not sure about this show. My favorite moment in BB is a couple weeks in, we've gotten to know the houseguests, like some, hate some, then something crazy happens. Someone's caught in a lie, someone unexpected wins HoH. Then the whole place explodes and turns into a mad house with everybody running around in a paranoid frenzy. Is that possible in this game? I mean if the audience controls everything? I know the original Big Brother and the other versions have more control by the audience, does that format work in making people playing each other?

I've found the livestreaming fascinating, as the online viewers and the houseguests are able to interact throughout thanks to The Magic of The Internets. Today featured an interactive Pictionary session (they drew on the glass bedroom door) and a revealing round of "What Is Your Biggest Regret?" Like hannahjane, I'm not sure how much I can say about the feeds here as some of the content may act as spoilers for the actual show, so I'll be very vague (until otherwise advised) when I say: one player's answer has proven to be very controversial.

Lastly, I agree with Di675 that this seems more of a Competitive Reality Show than a Candid one. Either way, I'm glad to have found the forum as I'll be watching.

ETA: There's also a Twitter Booth in the house, and the houseguests can go in and tweet whatever's on their minds whenever they want. I think it's cool to let everyone tweet and not just the HOH like they do in Big Brother. If you wish to follow them, their usernames are their first names with the prefix TGH, i.e. Alex is @TGHAlex.

Extremely belated edit as I'd be remiss if I didn't warn you: Holly, who prides herself on the nickname "Yakkity Yak" because she never shuts up, transfers that "talent" into the Twitter realm quite ably. To the tune of 50 tweets in the past 35 minutes, much of them saying almost exactly the same thing. Follow at your own risk!

For all those who wanted to keep up with the goings-on with the show, there is a blog dedicated to the show (unknown whether it's officially affiliated with ABC) that posts video clips of the live streams and other selected clips from the show, as seen here.

(Warning: At the time of this posting, the 'controversial' (and IMO, slightly disturbing) answer to the "What Is Your Biggest Regret?" game is referenced at the very top of the blog.) For that contestant's sake, I hope the answer isn't shown on the show.

Has anyone else been following the lawsuit by CBS? I was reading some declaration by a purported copyright expert who claims that The Glass House is a carbon copy of Big Brother. He then goes on to prove his point by attaching screenshots of both shows to the 11-page document. The screenshots in question show people on both shows exiting a hottub shirtless, talking about tattoos, and having a meeting in a bedroom. Oh, and there are similarly colored pillows and women with blonde hair! ABC! You thieves!

It's obvious that the most damning thing for ABC is the fact that so many of the crew on TGH also worked on BB. But the fact that CBS is claiming infringement based on hair color and random camera angles, it just seems so silly. Reality TV is so damn incestuous to begin with. Get over it.

Ladies and gentlemen of the court, we have a ruling:

http://www.thewrap.com/tv/article/cbss-glass-house-lawsuit-judge-denies-temporary-restraining-order-44286

Hooray! To summarize the judge's findings: "The 'C' is silent in 'CBS'". (loosely paraphrased)

My favorite quotes from the linked article:

(Judge) Feess indicated that he was disinclined to rule in favor of CBS's request for a temporary restraining order, noting that CBS's trade-secret claims are conflated, and that the network's arguments are not strong.

Feess added that California public policy favors employment and competition, and described 'Glass House' and 'Big Brother' as 'quite different television programs.

And best of all:

In an further blow to CBS's argument, Feess opined that the workings of 'Big Brother' are generally known in the industry, and could be 'reverse-engineered from watching the show.

In other words: "Your show ain't rocket science, CBS." Like the Glass House production team would be sitting there helpless thinking, "Oh, whatever color are we gonna make the pillows? I just don't know! We may not be able to proceed!" had they not seen or worked on Big Brother. What a farce. Rightful ruling FTW!

I hate to admit it, but I've been following the case on Deadline because I've been looking forward to this series since I heard about it. As I've mentioned before, I've always liked the original season of BB (even though it was as exciting as watching spit dry) and this sounds just like that, albeit with some interesting new additions to the formula (Twitter booth, anyone?). It's why I'm thrilled to hear that the judge denied CBS' temporary restraining order. It's sounding more and more like CBS is just afraid of a little competition, and even that seems silly. There's no way TGH is going to seriously challenge BB as an actual summer hit. And most of the publicity this show has gotten has stemmed from CBS' lawsuit! Move on.

I agree, I was looking at the stills of the house over on the ABC site and I have to say that house is really nice looking. Maybe this will make BB, spruce up their house a bit. I mean the thing has not changed that much since All-Stars.

I'll definitely be watching tonight's streaming in its entirety. I do hope it's a less structured/interactive session than the livestreams have been previously. I don't know yet with this show. I'll tune in again next week. There's a few interesting concepts, like the viewers' answers segment, but I'm not sure if there's enough interesting personalities to carry the show. The limited live feeds is also rather dull, as that's the best part of Big Brother.

It felt like a cheap ripoff of every other so called "reality" show we've seen over and over by now. I was a little more interested once Alex went on his rampage but still not enough to keep me interested. I'll admit though that I am interested to see if Alex gets voted out since he was only being a villain because that's what the audience voted for.

The live stream going on right now is more interesting than the show.

I don't know, my boyfriend and I kind of liked it. Everyone in the house is obviously trying to find their footing and figure out who they are within this game, but once the dominant personalities start emerging, things should certainly get more interesting. The premise of the entire game, though, is intriguing. I'll be tuning in next week and, don't judge, I'm currently watching the livestream.

He's an idiot and I hope America votes his ass off. I can't believe Jacob just quit. I smell a rat. So far, I think the show is okay. If I had to choose between this and Big Brother, I'd pick BB, only because its on several times a week. I feel like I'm missing stuff, but at the same time, I don't feel like I'm missing much. It's too bad two players didn't ask if they should be villains. Obviously the answer would be yes for both, and then yay fireworks. But now it's ABC doing a reboot of CBS's Big Brother 8? How suck-sationally exciting.

Aside from that little plot-line being shoved down our holes, this show could be okay. It's pretty much a more interactive Big Brother UK.

The house looks a little weird from the "outside" view, just because it's so basic. It's like the glass house was built on that old Windows desktop background, with the green hills and blue sky. It's unsettling, but I guess it should be?

Congratulations, show, I will watch again.

Alex, here's a tip for you: America asked you to be a villain, not a bully. There are tons of reality show villains out there and you will never be remembered among them unless they are trying to recall some of the worst douchebags that have appeared on TV. Cannot stand his smug face, his gross pervy ways that scream sexual harassment, and I can't believe he thinks that this is what America wants.

The tasks were boring. The things to vote on were lame (sushi or cold cuts! Mardi Gras beads or oversized sunglasses!)

I'll stick with Big Brother, thank you very much. And LOL to that dude that quit as soon as he left the house.
