I'm pretty sure that the Ryan date/dismissal is the best in franchise history. It was golden throughout, with all his smugness and ridiculousness even down to the turquoise shoes. And the list? OMG. She had the most amazing look on her face. At the end he really believed he could talk her out of it. I found it disrespectful how he kept going after her on it. I understand maybe saying you don't get it once but after that he was just trying to impose his will on her.
I honestly think he couldn't fathom that any decision to dismiss him could be right.
And you don't want to look like an arrogant ass? Oh, so too late. The only reason to pre-emptively worry about how you will come off is because you know you are a jerk.
I actually laughed out loud when he was talking about these lifelong friendships he has with the other guys and they jumped to them celebrating, hugging and high-fiving. Absolutely amazing.
As for the rest, I think that Travis was really hurt. What a great guy. She just didn't feel it.
And those games were hilarious. I started feeling so bad for Chris so I'm glad in the end she recognized his effort. Looks like she and the guys actually had a lot of fun on that date.
Can't wait for next week: the preview regarding Cassie the producer shows the Bachelor is really going to break down the wall. I actually doubted they would do it.

Arie going to her after was sweet made me like him a lot more. Didn't thing the show would go on air with the tabloid plot of the producer being his ex.

"I'm wearing turquoise shoes."
"The world is our pearl."
"You're a great judgment of character."
Oh, Arie. I adore you but buy a dictionary...and a phrase book. Also, ease up on the tongue when you kiss her.
The Scottish games were a hoot! Great way to sneak a peak at the legs, again.
Loved Arie and Jef perched on the couch in their hoodies, smirking at Ryan.
This season is really bringing the bromance.
I totally want to go to Croatia now. But I need Tyrion Lannister to be there.

The list was classic! He kept going on talking while she clearly appeared over him. Hilarious. And Ryan, my list of what makes you a douche is much longer than 12 items.
Arie going to her room, so obvious a stunt. Dude is cute but he needs a tan and some proactive stat!
As for who looked best in the kilts, Sean and Doug. Hubba hubba, I love a hot bod in a kilt! But Chris...no, just no. I loved when Emily said about Sean-man that was impressive and fricking hot! So real (and I havent liked her much until now).

Wasn't that adorable!?
I must admit, they fooled me at the end. I was sure she was going to keep both Doug and John, but after she left the room and then came back without any roses and started to make her speech, I was sure she was going to send both of then home. Fake out!
I continue to really like Emily. She is beyond gorgeous, but also seems bright, caring, down to earth and fun. I've been certain from early on that she'd pick Arie, but I'm less sure now. I'm so glad I'm not spoiled for once - much more fun this way!

It's killing me not to read the spoilers, but I'm holding out, because shockingly enough, this season is killing it for me. Lovely to see a Bachelorette with a bit of a discerning eye. The world's gone all topsy-turvy in other ways, too. I usually get really squicked out having to see them kiss, but Arie and Emily agains that wall was actually kinda hot.

Well, glad Emily got rid of Ryan but he made it pretty easy on her in the sense that I can't imagine any any woman who would be impressed by his list. What a creep.
Still loving Jef and I thought she looked at him with more enthusiasm than she showed for anyone - save Arie. Really looking forward to next week now.

Me too! I almost peeked today, but I am determined not to do it. It's been fun to watch unspoiled. This episode was a good one -- so many awesome things, from the highland games to seeing Ryan have his huge ego deflated a bit by his "trophy wife." I like Emily and think she's a great bachelorette.

I knew Emily didn't like him and it was only a matter of time so I was finding it kind of dull and going on too long, but then adding the part with the guys was brilliant and made the whole thing worth it.I actually laughed out loud when he was talking about these lifelong friendships he has with the other guys and they jumped to them celebrating, hugging and high-fiving. Absolutely amazing.
It bugged me that they went to Croatia and then did a date with Scottish games. Although I love that taber (??) tossing game. It's just so freaking weird. And one of the guys said it probably is harder than it looks? Because that doesn't look hard to you? Although they gave them wimpy tabers (??). The real guys throw logs the size of telephone poles.
All the guys looked great in the kilts.
For someone who blew through multiple hundreds of thousands of dollars in clothing allowance, Emily almost always looks low-rent and tacky to me. The glittery gowns are so over ugly and the top and not at all chic or sophisticated. And now she's wearing glitter tops to the casual dates as well. Ick. And those huge earrings with that ugly white glittery dress at the rose ceremony, ugh!!

I really felt like I was invading something when Arie and Emily were kissing. Yikes!
I literally lol'ed at Ryan's incredulity at being sent home. It's like he thought if he kept talking that he'd talk her into keeping him. I mean really dude, do you really want to be with someone who you have to convince to be with you.
Ok, I have to admit to being perplexed about Highland Games in Croatia. Huh. Oooooo-kay.

And Ryan. Oh, Ryan, Ryan, Ryan. What really made me shudder was when one of the guys back in the room said something about how he (Ryan) probably wants/expects to be the next Bachelor. Since I (almost) never watch Bachelor (I somewhat like the turned tables aspect of Bachelorette, but 25 women fawning over one man squicks me totally), I don't care as far as my own entertainment value is concerned, but if Ryan becomes the next Bachelor, I weep for humanity.
Some of the things on his list, in the right context, wouldn't seem so bad, i.e. Loyalty, but he made it all. about. him. And then there were his word choices. "Server". ??!! Ass!! I found it a bit entertaining that he tried so hard to change her mind and she stuck to her guns, but I think he's the type of guy who will never truly see himself as the ass that the rest of the world sees. Eg., his moment (already mentioned) of fond mention of the other guys and what great buds he's made / cut to much manly celebration in the man room!
I thought the hoodie/couch guy who just fell right over onto a pillow laughing when Ryan & Emily left (Arie?) was a hoot. And it was Arie who was confident, toward the end of the night, that Ryan wouldn't be coming back.
I don't know if Courtney started something that's going to end up in every season now, but was tonight the 1st time we've seen a male candidate go to the B'ette's lodgings at an unsanctioned time? At least their visit was kind of sweet and no one got nekkid.
I really think it's time she cut Doug loose. I'm not seeing anything there. They had me faked out w/ the alley chat because I was sure she was going to go back and say "no more roses" and send them both home. I liked that she kept John after what he shared tonight - I saw some connection - but not Doug.

I loved this episode all around. Arie and Jef have quite a little bromance going on that I watch for every episode now. They are almost always right next to each other if they are not off with Emily. It's going to be awkward as hell if it does come down to those two. I'm not spoiled either, but I'm thinking that's where this is headed.
How fun was it watching Ryan and his turquoise shoes get kicked to the curb? He's such a tool, and yet I don't hate him. He's type of idiotic arrogance can be fun to watch, and the list cracked me up. Plus, the reaction from the guys was a great payoff.
I'm also still a fan of Emily. There's something about her that I've always liked even though I normally can't stand her type. She does have charisma, and I do think she's got great spunk to her. I also liked that she told Arie that she came down too hard on him last week over the Kalen thing. I appreciated her admitting that she overdid the "you should have stood up for me" thing.

So can someone tell me please?, am I remembering last week's preview wrong or did they fake us out?
It was a total fake out, I would say. Plus, they made it look as though Arie was going to tell Emily about what Ryan had said to the guys. I'm curious where they got the "who else is not into me?" line though. I call shenanigans!

I think it's time for Doug to leave, as well. He clearly misses his son. Emily and Doug seem like they could possibly be friends, but I don't see a chemistry there at all.
On the other hand, I was happy to see John stay. We haven't really heard him talk much, but what he said tonight was extremely touching. It appears that they could have a one-on-one next week (if that's what the commercials lead me to believe), so I will be curious to see how that goes.
What in the world happened with Chris in that promo? Woah.

I thought it hilarious that Ryan was talking about having made friends for life, but then they cut to the guys hugging and high fiving when they found out he’d been eliminated. Too funny!
I won’t be upset if Emily picks either Arie, Sean or Jef. I think they can now reveal the final guy on Bachelor Pad.

I agree with her--he wasn't a complete tool, not a complete arrogant ass. That was an interesting scene for TB--probably the best "realist" rejection that I can remember. And she seemed quite articulate at the time -- as did he,including asking, non-aggressively, what her tears meant.
Ah, if only this show would show more real conversations!
Or, alternatively, more scenes of Arie and Emily making out. She has such great guys left, but those two truly have stand out chemistry. Quite hot!

The looks Emily gave Ryan during their dinner -- and the reading of the list-- were priceless. "Do you feel bad?" No, Ryan... she doesn't really feel bad. You're a self-absorbed douche with turquoise shoes. Emily, you made the right decision - no matter how many times Ryan told you it was wrong.
I've loved Emily's outfits... up till this episode. This is what a $350k clothing budget buys? Please, clothing gods, let it get better from her on out!
Doug weirds me out.
For some inexplicable reason, I have a thing for Chris. And one-F-Jef.

By my count, she needs about three sparkly dresses per episode, one for dinner on each of the one-on-ones and one for the rose ceremony. So we still have quite a few craptastic gowns to look forward to. I thought the gown she wore for the Rose Ceremony was pretty except the girl needs to get a proper bra. She was looking a little saggy. The gold dress from her date with Ryan was exactly what Ryan deserved. Major fugly.

Things I think are fake or partially fake:
1. Ryan's list-just didn't seem like him.
2. The guys previously all said they liked Ryan, they are seen hanging out with him in every episode (not Arie but the other guys) and suddenly they all hate him?
3. Arie knowing exactly where Emily is so he could 'sneak' off to her room
4. Emily keeping Doug and John. I can only guess that they didn't want to eliminate any other guys so they convinced Emily to keep these guys so the show can have its full run.
5. Emily having the desire to take Travis on a one-on-one date.
My advice to future Emily daters: Talk only about your burning desire to be a stepfather to Ricki and you are in.

It wasn't there! I just SAW the preview, because I rewatched parts of last week right before this one tonight, and she said to Chris something about wanting to know "who in there isn't ALL ABOUT ME." So what happened to that??*I thought*, the exact scene we saw near the end of tonight when she went out into an alley - yellow stone walls - Chris and someone else standing there - same dress (I think) - and she totally went off on them, in that yellow stone walled alley, and started screaming something about, "OK, who in there is (or is not) ... something something". I thought it was something about the usual "not there for the right reasons". Aaanndd, I thought it was going to happen tonight. Instead we got alley, yellow stone walls, Chris and someone ... and a quiet discussion about John and Doug. So can someone tell me please?, am I remembering last week's preview wrong or did they fake us out?
Adored seeing Dubrovnik (anyone else spot the Game of Thrones poster in the background when Travis was leaving? It was filmed there, in part.) Overall, I got bored, though. The Ryan date was funny. I thought her annoyance that he didn't put something-something-family on his own list was stupid. She has a kid, so she has a family already. But he doesn't yet. A single guy without kids is thinking about his mate only. She is so focused on being mom, she doesn't focus on being a mate enough, I don't think. That said, she should have drop-kicked Ryan the first time he called her a good prospect for being a "trophy wife." She finally seemed at least unsure about it, realizing trophies don't talk back. They're also objects, Emily. Is that what you want to be?
Ari seems sweet with her. It's too bad if it all comes tumbling down because he dated one of the producers in the past.

The crying seems so weird to me. John was crying over his grandparents as if they had just died yesterday. And Doug was crying over his kid as if he had just lost custody of him. I'm not sure how balanced these people are if this is what sets them off in public.

Oh, Arie. We still love you. His language skills (or lack of) are becoming part of his charm."You're a great judgment of character."
Jef and Arie are cute together, acting like gophers on the couch, straining to see... and rolling in laughter about Ryan and his "pearl" comments. Man, considering what "pearl" is sometimes slang for, that was awkward!
I was annoyed at the product placement of the Brave movie (thought I think it looks cute and the animation is awesome), but the Highland Games were fun. Much better than the other competitions they've had for the men in the past. Did NOT think it belonged in Dubrovnik, though. They should have at least had the games in Britain, they were just there last week. Oh, well.

My advice to future Emily daters: Talk only about your burning desire to be a stepfather to Ricki and you are in.
This. WHY does she keep TH-ing that she so obsessed with finding a man [of this group of men that she barely knows] who is primarily interested in loving her daughter? If one of the men truly was that into Ricki, it would be kind of gross and strange. (side note of a disturbing bent: I read Lolita, and marrying a stranger who is passionate about your daughter doesn't end well. Also, [something about woody allen].)
I do notice, however, that while she repeatedly SAYS she is only into guys who want to be insta-dads to Ricki, she clearly is picking guys based on her chemistry with them alone. So, that's good. That is far less creepy.
I'm definitely not saying that any of these men are bad men or creepy. It is just strange that these relative strangers' love of Ricki is a continual focus of Emily's voice overs and talking heads. I think it probably just comes down to an excuse for her (one she may have been using even before the show): "I can't give you this rose. You don't value family enough." "Get the f out! You aren't amazed by my proven track record of reproductive prowess!" "thinks to self, oh my, what kind of facial hair decision did ryan make tonight? what is he thinking? is he an amateur magician or something? Your list doesn't really include ricki. go home."

This dismissal is such a cautionary tale to all "our" daughters. If a guy is trying to convince you that a decision you've made about something that is wholly and completely YOUR decision is the wrong one, RUN SCREAMING. A long-term committed relationship/marriage break up is something that can be a mutual decision, but the decision to ENTER into that relationship in the first place is wholeheartedly ONE SIDED. He is a predator. At the end he really believed he could talk her out of it. I found it disrespectful how he kept going after her on it. I understand maybe saying you don't get it once but after that he was just trying to impose his will on her
This show is still chockful of inane but there are some actual moments that deliver the goods. We'll see if this one does or not but at least they're addressing it.Can't wait for next week: the preview regarding Cassie the producer shows the Bachelor is really going to break down the wall. I actually doubted they would do it

Arie and Emily pressed up against the wall was definitely the hottest thing I’ve ever seen on this franchise. Yowza!
Seriously! That was crazy hot. Lucky Em. I wonder if it's just her or if he's like that with every girl he kisses. All these slow, passionate, face-caressing kisses are really sexy. I wish Emily won't pick him and he ends up as the next bachelor so he can slut it up as I watch :)
I go back and forth on Jef. I think I liked him more when he looked disinterested and acted aloof. Jef, I'll like you a lot more if you stop saying "like" more than I do!
I like all the bachelors left, good job Emily! I really loved her this episode, esp on the group date and on not giving into Ryan. For a minute there I thought she was going to give him a rose after all, just to shut him up.

And love the editor monkeys for that clip of the guys celebrating right after Ryan talks about how much he and the guys bonded and will be BFFs.
And I really enjoyed that moment with Jef where she was teasing him about playing hard to get and he started to deny it was a strategy and then he laughed and asked her if it worked...and if so, then it totally was his strategy.

Definitely. But don't forget to talk about what an "honor" it would be to be her father. My advice to future Emily daters: Talk only about your burning desire to be a stepfather to Ricki and you are in.
I'm not quite sure what to think. I kind of felt like he was using techniques from that asswipe that had a show, Mystery I think was his name, and the show called The Pickup Artist I think, and it was all about treating women terribly to get them into bed. Which is a technique that could actually work in a bar with someone who is desperate and on the rebound, but in a situation like this, with other men treating the Bachelorette well, it's destined to be a loser strategy. Although I thought the same thing with Emily's being a Rules girl on Brad's season, but Brad ate it right up for reasons I still don't get.I agree with her--he wasn't a complete tool, not a complete arrogant ass.
Heh. On another sidenote, I just saw something funny with one of Woody's kids talking about Father's Day also being brother-in-law day.(side note of a disturbing bent: I read Lolita, and marrying a stranger who is passionate about your daughter doesn't end well. Also, [something about woody allen].)
I don't think he's excluded if she picks him and it doesn't work out as long as he's willing to cry about getting his heart broken and looking for love and blah, blah, blah. I kind of hope he's not the Bachelor whatever happens though. Has there ever been a Bachelor who was liked online but didn't turn into a dick when he's dating 25 women?I wish Emily won't pick him and he ends up as the next bachelor so he can slut it up as I watch :)

So far, I've agreed with all her decisions about the men and I love how seriously she's working at this. Things like seeing that Chris was actually the "bravest," at the donkey trials, and the way she tries to draw out the real man behind the surface all impress me.
I loved Emily's hair at the RC. Locks of hair hanging over the face always annoy me so it was nice to see her face, free and clear for once. Big veneers or not, I think that's a dag-gone beautiful woman.
I could have watched those guys try to ride donkeys all day.

I don't like her glittery gowns but she had some cute outfits this time. The jeans, boots and big scarf on her daytime date were hip and appropriate. I also liked the brown mini with the dark tights.
I have this pet theory that Jef and Arie are working together. Jef is there to keep her distracted from the other guys so she doesn't lose focus on Arie. Wishful thinking, I know.
But honestly, Arie just seems gone for her. I will cry buckets if she let's him go.
