As this is a nighttime soap that is airing a sneak peek episode tonight, I thought it appropriate to start a thread:

NICK AT NITE HEATS UP THE SUMMER WITH STARDOM, ROMANCE AND DECEIT WITH THE PREMIERE OF NIGHTLY PRIMETIME DRAMA, "HOLLYWOOD HEIGHTS"

SPECIAL PREVIEW EVENT BEGINS MONDAY, JUNE 11 WITH DEBUT EPISODE AIRING NIGHTLY AT 9P.M. (ET/PT) THROUGH FRIDAY, JUNE 15, FOLLOWED BY SERIES PREMIERE ON MONDAY, JUNE 18 AT 9 P.M. (ET/PT)

Brand-New Hour-Long Series Stars Cody Longo, Brittany Underwood and Carlos Ponce; Executive Produced by Six-time Emmy Award-Winner Jill Farren Phelps with James Franco to Star in Multi-Episode Storyline

Santa Monica, Calif., May 23, 2012 - Nick at Nite adds sizzle to summer weeknights with the original primetime drama Hollywood Heights, kicking off with a special preview beginning Monday, June 11. The debut episode will encore every night at 9:00 p.m. (ET/PT) through Friday, June 15, with the series premiering on Monday, June 18 at 9:00 P.M.(ET/PT). Adapted for a U.S. audience from the wildly popular Mexican telenovela Alcanzar una Estrella, Hollywood Heights follows the journey of a teenage girl whose life changes drastically when she becomes a star and wins the love of her rock and roll idol, and both are tested by setbacks, heartbreak and deception. The first season of the 80-episode series, co-produced with Televisa in association with Sony Pictures Television, will air weeknights at 9p.m. through October 2012.

"Hollywood Heights, in the great tradition of telenovelas, serves up relatable characters and compelling storylines that hook you and keep you coming back to see what happens next." said Marjorie Cohn, Nickelodeon's President, Development and Original Programming. "The stories are about love, family and following your dreams and summertime offers a great window for this kind of viewing commitment."

Hollywood Heights centers on Loren Tate (Brittany Underwood, One Life to Live), a shy teen whose musical aspirations inch closer to reality when she wins a songwriting contest sponsored by Eddie Duran (Cody Longo, Fame), a rock star at the top of his game. Although Loren and Eddie's budding partnership - on-stage and off - faces obstacles, their strong family bonds inspire them to keep going. Loren finds the support system she needs in her single mom, Nora (Jama Williamson, Parks and Recreation), as Nora returns to the dating scene for the first time in years. Meanwhile Eddie's unbreakable bond with his father, Max (Carlos Ponce, Couples Retreat, telenovela actor/singer) - strengthened by family tragedy - is challenged by Eddie's budding romance with a beautiful, but manipulative model and aspiring actress, Chloe Carter (Melissa Ordway, 17 Again). As Loren begins a meteoric rise on the music scene and Eddie's star begins to fade, together they learn that the road to love and stardom often carries a heavy price tag. Justin Wilczynski (Kaya) also stars as Eddie's bitter former friend, Tyler Rorke.

First epi is already online. I saw it and it was pretty decent. Enjoyed it more than I thought I would. The epi started meh but got betetr as it went on and I'm curious to see the second epi. It helped that there were alot of familiar faces from other tv shows on it.

1. Since I am being old-fashioned by waiting for this show to air on television, I'd like to know what kind of vibe this soap will have - that of an ABC Family teen drama or a CW teen drama?

2. Is Shannon Kane (ex-Natalia, AMC) a part of the cast? I'd visited the website and saw a character that looked like her but I am not sure that it is her.

It didn't have the vibe of either of those it had it's own vibe part of which was similar to Televisa's novela vibes since it is a Televisa production in part with Sony.

Shannon Kane is apart of the cast and appeared in the first epi.

This reminded me more of Hollyoaks, but with a dated 90s style. The writing could've been better, considering the talent on the writing staff. A lot of the writers also wrote/created Spyder Games, the MTV daytime soap, so it has a lot in common with that as well.

Shannon Kane plays Traci, wife to Eddie's manager Jake, played by Brandon Bell.

So, I watched last night and it's too soon to tell whether this'll be a guilty pleasure teen soap for me. It was nice to see Langston Wilde, Natalia Fowler, and Dusty Donovan again, as well as Charles from Lincoln Heights and the girl from Dream a Little Dream all grown up.

I've never seen Hollyoaks, but I definitely got a Neighbours vibe from the whole thing. Agreed on the 90s style, but it's not SO overt that it'll turn people off. I think it gets the job done. It's certainly not some flashy, stylized piece of art, but I think it could appeal to a lot of kids and their parents.

That said, Nickelodeon should have marketed this under some new brand name outside of Nick at Nite. That TV block has developed something of an "old fogey" feel to it and I don't know if the younger set is going to be clamoring to see something advertised under the Nick at Nite moniker.

I thought the first episode was surprisingly telenovela-like in its execution, if a bit askew (somewhat like the novela adaptations MyNetwork TV did in 2006-2007--considering this was adapted by a group of American soap opera writers, I'm actually kind of surprised it didn't go off on any sort of twisted bender). And it did a fair job of setting up a good-sized cast of characters and plots/plot hooks, perhaps most notably the villains of the piece (Adriana, Tyler, and Phil). It's got promise, at least, and at 80 episodes (sixteen weeks, so assuming no skips it should end in early October) it shouldn't wear out its welcome before it does anything really stupid...

I watch at night after work. I don't really care about the leads so far though. But I do like Mel, Jake, Tracy, Phil, and Tyler, Adriana's dad and look forward to seeing more of them.

It's too soon for me to weigh in on Loren and Eddie, but I do enjoy Mel at lot. My hope is that she'll get to be more than just the wacky best friend, as she may just end up being my favorite character on this show. Can't stand her mother and her backwards double standards, though.

Who I can do without thus far? Spoiled brat Adriana, who disrespects her father for no discernible reason.

Adriana's father is a pompous ass. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. They deserve each other.

I get the feeling that no one is watching this show, though it is very good. Just like how no one watched Fashion House in 2006. Too bad.

I'm watching. Some nights I work until 9 so when I get home I watch it. It's not as bad as some people are complaining about. They expect it to be like an adult soap when it's a teen novela. I think it's been slowly improving as the epis going on.

I watched the first episode to see Brittany Underwood. I thought it was okay. I like her best friends brother, and the bitchy girls father, played by "Dusty" Grayson McCouch. There are going to be 80 episodes of this? No way I would watch all that. They'd have to hook you into liking the characters right away. To do that, I think they would have to cast more of the recognizable faces.

I think the pilot was blah but it's been improving a little in each epi. I mean it's something I watch a night while winding down before my must watch shows and it's a teen show on Nick so I guess I don't put as much thought into it as alot of soap fans.

I've figured out just why I've been wishing that Adriana would get eaten by a shark since she first appeared - she is set to 'whiny bitch' 200% of the time and I've yet to see her display a kinder side to anyone she's ever encountered. Compare her to Chloe - another scheming blonde who manages not only sell her kindness as much as she does her selfishness, but succeeds at making the audience feel for her as her plan unravels - and it's no coincidence as to why she falls short as a character.

On another note, I'm not sure how well this show is doing in the ratings, but I'd like to know if the 80-episode-order that this show has gotten is guaranteed without any threat of cancellation.

Yeah Adrianna reminds of of the rich bitches I went to high school with. Airheaded, spoiled, and disrepectful and whiny for no reason at all. Yes I understand her dad was a cheater and he seems to like to get around but he is the parent that loved her enough to stay in her life. I don't feel anything for her because she gets everything she wants and is still unsatisfied for no reason.

I like Chloe even if she is a goldigger and a cheater. Ans she and Tyler are hot together. I can see that she is comflicted about her plan. I think she has genuine feels for Eddie because he's the safe and secure guy but she likes bad boy Tyler.

Since this was on the nick at nite when my other shows were on, I watched the first episode and thought it was very bad and over the top acting. I don't know if it was the late night watching but I have now become addicted to this show. I really want Chloe (model, right) and Tyler caught. They both suck too much to root for and I think it would be more fun to watch them getting caught.

I don't know all the names of the player yet, sorry. But I kinda hope that the jv delinquent is able to steal the computers only to be caught by his sister yet again. This time maybe mom will see what her son is. Didn't like mom at all. Lauren, I like and her mom too. Nice girl, good grades, does nothing wrong. I kinda like that she's this way too and I hope down the line she gets with Eddie. Nice end game - two pure souls.

Maybe I haven't watched soaps in a while and this is how the acting is but some of it's really, really bad. Not that I care anyway because I have become addicted and want to see how it all ends now. Thanks Yes, Dear - Friends - and every other show on Nick at Nite, lol.

So Cloe's mother is coming to town?

I think Traci will eventually get fed up and leave Jake or cheat on him.

The fact that I feel more sympathy for the golddigging chick from the sticks who ran her fiancé's mother off the freeway to her death over Dusty Donovan's daughter sure speaks volumes.

At first I just thought Kelly wanted to steal Jake's job but now I'm thinking maybe she will move in on Tracy's man as well.

The one liners were really good last night.

Ellie will be telling Nora "I told you so" soon.

Eddie finally grew a brain.

You think that Kelly wants Jake? There is something about her that I don't trust. I thought that she was okay at first, but now I'm not sure. I'm so glad about Eddie. I missed that episode & I can't figure Chloe out. Does she love Eddie or is it Tyler or neither? I love this show!

I actually saw Kelly as wanting to move in on Tracy's husband from jump and was/am wondering why they've taken so long to air/acknowledge the inevitable.

I know Chloe's a manipulative little minx who hates her mother, but dammit, I still like her (as it stands, she's my second favorite character after Melissa). That said, she looks better with her hair back than she does with it out.

And yes, I know that Phil is a troublemaking hoodlum with no respect for his parents, but I still believe that he can and should do better than his whiny twit of a girlfriend.

I still don't see the thing that you see between Kelly & Jake. There's something else going on with her, but I can't put my finger on it. Oh, I like Chloe too. I just can't figure her out. I really wish that Jackie would tell Eddie the truth. What do you think about Eddie & Lauren?
