Thought I'd start a topic for her new show. Can't wait to read the reviews. I'm predicting it will be sour (like those darn cocktails) and cheap, but I could be wrong.

The topic headline should read: "Bethenny: When a reality show, cocktails and underwear aren't enough" but somehow I screwed it up!

I tuned in out of sheer curiousity, but had to change channel as I realized her voice is very grating on my nerves only to land on The Ellen show and guess who was guesting ? The same annoying voice sitting in the chair next to Ellen's. Oy.

Apparently she did a bit where she slathered mayonnaise on her face and sour cream under her arms? Wow.That.Sounds.Like.Must.See.TV.

How about Bethenny: Shhhh Stop Talking or Bethenny: Shut Up

I like when she came out smiling and dancing like she's just this upbeat jolly soul. Please.

She invited her panel of three men to whip out their penises to see if the black one was bigger. Cutting edge assholery, as usual.

The moronic studio audience leaps to their feet in a clapping amphetamine frenzy when they go to commerical.

Since those two food items have never touched her lips at least she has some use for them. The Kardashians slather mayo on their twats I wonder if it has the same effect on Bethenny's face.

Ellen will put a stop to the dancing entrance, that's her thing.

How about Bethenny: Shhhh Stop Talking or Bethenny: Shut Up

More fitting even Shut up !!! Bethenny's Talking.

The dancing was uncomfortably long, I eventually had to look away from the tv. She's not Ellen, Ellen goes out and dances WITH the audience, and she's does so in a fun, oftentimes foolish, way. Bethenny looked like she was at the club looking to hook up, but hadn't had enough to drink yet.

She has GOT to slow it down if this is going to last. There were a few times where she lost me, and I've watched all of her reality shows.

Bottom line: Meh, she's no Ellen, or Oprah, or Anderson.

The snippets I saw were a tad forced, but maybe that was just first show jitters on Bethenny's part.

She danced gleefully, dressed nicely but conservatively, without emphasizing her skinniness, and downplayed her love of attention, I think. She even listened pretty well.

She seemed nervous in the opening segment with the male guests, and even with Vanessa Williams a bit. At one point when Vanessa was talking about her relationship with her mother, Bethenny said "I don't really have a relationship with my mother." That was quite the understatement; but it was both honest and savvy nonetheless. I think she will need some practice in making celebrity guests feel more open and comfortable on her show. Even Kevin Nealon seemed uptight.

She seems the most relaxed interacting with audience members. She loves to chit chat with the regular folk about sex, relationships, cheap beauty tips, and then feel the adulation of the audience for just being Bethenny. They have become her new minions, en masse!

I think I've said this before, but Bethenny has this rare talent of being able to bridge the gap between her high fashion, materialistic, very ambitious persona with her "I am so relatable to the everyday normal woman" image. Her opening montage says it all... she is trying to sell her magical Cinderella story, which is universally appealing, and yet still wants to remain real and accessible. She never acknowledges the privileges she had that most of her audience would never have had access to.

The parts I saw weren't horrible, but they were still ALL ABOUT BETHENNY!

I'm not in one of the 6 special markets, so have to ask of you privileged folks - were Jason & Bryn front & center in the audience? (It's creepy that Stepford Dr Phil wife does it, down right desperate if Jason does it).

I've seen both Jason and Bryn in a preview clip, but today I saw Jason only, and Bethenny went up to him in the audience, all smiles. I know I should be happy for them, but he looked like a puppy in training. It was a little weird.

Jason was sitting several rows back on the side. [snip] It wasn't the best talk show but it was far from the worst I've ever seen.

Love everybody's taglines!!

I'm wondering how the ratings are, but given that it's only the first day in a small number of markets, it may take time ...

She probably embarrassed the guys with the penis comment so she'd get publicity ... like the day she flashed the audience on Anderson.

Because I'm not in one of the "privileged" six markets, I've decided to read ... Skinnydipping. Because I can picture her as the title character, I'm enjoying it. It moves briskly and I must say, her co-writer should be getting a LOT of money--and the credit. I think she told the stories to the writer, who basically put it together and let Bethenny add HER dialogue. It reads too well to have been written by a first-time novelist who is also doing a reality show, selling booze, underwear, cosmetics, raising a baby etc....

I'll ante up to pay an audience member to ask Jason what his job is. How nice he could stay with her all these weeks.

I like Bethenny okay ... loved her on RHONY, like her okay on her own show. She's a bit much sometimes, but that doesn't bother me. But ... that VOICE! Make it stop, or slow down, or cut the mike, or something!

There's a good chance her show will pick up steam and find an audience over the summer, but for the love of dog, she's gotta tone it down. She's busting MY ear drums, and I'm a New Yorker, so I'm no stranger to those dulcet tones she emits. Also, we get it, you're going there, but there's a difference between being open and honest, and being ridiculous. Emphasis on the dick. Which you didn't need. And was pitiful. And racist. Towards white men.

Another tip: SHUT UP AND LET YOUR GUESTS TALK! Talk show doesn't equal you talking all the time. Introduce a topic, and then let them expound. Seriously, I thought she'd be good on a talk show, but I also thought she'd have trouble STFU long enough to learn anything about the guests. You're supposed to make them feel welcome, not deaf and shell-shocked. Poor Vanessa Williams, could hardly get her story out without BF trampling the story with her own issues. She should have been in a roundtable format, one voice of several. Speaking of ...

The upcoming Holly Robinson Peete visit looks promising. I wish she'd do a co-host show on Fridays with HRP and Leah Remini. One because I think they'd be great together and they were the best part of the Talk, and two, to stick it to those Talk bitches, especially the Chen-Bot.

Also, knock off the dancing. That's Ellen's, bitch!

TV Guide was not too impressed. I'm in New York, so I'm in one of the test markets.

I love how she opened the show saying the show wasn't about her, but about the audience (yeah, right), but then proceeds to talk all about HER at the expense of her guests. And is henpecked Jason going to be in the audience at every show?

http://www.tvguide.c...re-1048774.aspx

Since the Ellen team is behind this show, I think they need to give her some advice, pronto.

I did not see the sour cream or mayonnaise segment but I did see her soak her feet in a basin of beer. I really was expecting her to drink the liquid after her foot soak. I think she would do things for ratings and or talk !

I did not realize this show is a summer 6 week trial. It is only day one or two and it is too early to make a prediction even if it is produced by Ellen.

The absolute BEST was the "I was born a poor black child" segment that kicked off the show.

The outfit that she wore was a tad too girly for her, but I liked it.

I agree. Watching Bethenny perform virtually solo for an hour, five days a week, may become overkill, if not oppressive, for me. I have always thought that Bethenny came across more likable in an ensemble cast like RHONY, where she could be one of many voices and not appear to be as narcissistic and self-centered.

I thought Holly was a well chosen guest. She was good spirited and really tried to connect with Bethenny without dumbing herself down too much, and also skirted around The Talk "firing" issue pretty eloquently. Today's guests - Holly and, of course, Ellen - seemed able to rein Bethenny in a little bit, and I think she will need that in order for her show to succeed.

I didn't see the entire hour, but I guess her "brand" now is frank talk about sex and relating to the common woman. Am I missing something? She looked good, danced a lot, and even comically expressed faux shock at some of the sex talk and toys. Was Jason there today?

Bottom line (in my opinion)... the people who are predisposed to already liking or identifying with Bethenny will enjoy this show. She is doing well considering it's her first shot at being a host. I'm interested in watching to see what happens, but am still on the fence. For a one-hour show, it's just not that interesting enough to hold my attention, and I think Bethenny needs to show some more genuine warmth in her one-on-one segments with guests.

I'm sure she and the producers are reviewing all of the feedback from critics and viewers, and will tweak and edit the show as the six-week trial progresses.

I agree on both counts. She was definitely toned down some with Ellen; you could almost see Ellen slowing her down by making her match her speaking style. And Holly was good for her too. She adds a lot on her own, but doesn't try and take over the show. They'd make a great regular team, if only Bethenny didn't think someone more successful would be threatening to her.

I was getting tired of Holly saying how bad the job market it. Kind of a slam on Obama I thought.

I was looking at tickets and they said ages 14 and up could attend. Um, I don't think so. She's intriguing but she's doesn't seem real-just a persona.

A-freaking-men.

I just posted that in the Bethenny thread, and was told to bring it here (didn't even know there was a talk show forum, lol). I'm not in one of the markets, but I watched her interview with Kate Walsh online yesterday. That poor lady could not finish a sentence. Honestly, that is so typical of Bethenny.....just SHUT up sometimes. The only person I've ever seen her have a conversation with--a real one--is her shrink. Who thought it was a good idea to give the WORST listener on the planet a talk show?

Thought show was crass, vulgar, and loud. Everything Bethenny.

Her core audience probably will love it, and I guess "going there" is her new brand. None of these topics (sex toys, questions about masturbation) are new to TV in any way. Other hosts "went there" starting about 20 years ago, mostly in a more thoughtful, informative manner, absent the shrill shriek.

Then shaved it off with a corn chip and pretended (?) to eat it. (No, you can't make this stuff up.)

Are they giving the audience members generous servings of SG cocktails spiked with Adderall? They seem as hyped up as Bethenny.

That is something that I don't understand and hope someone in the know can clarify, aren't there restrictions when it comes to booze placement. I thought the show had to have some kind of rating higher than G or PG, I never paid attention as to what rating Bethenny Ever After carried. With talk shows, I can see it up to a point, because they do do cooking and home remedy segments, but are there restrictions there too? IIRC the restrictions have gotten relaxed in recent years. Does Jim Beam have to pay some kind of fee so that it will appear to be arm's length?

I like Bethenny Ever After, but this talk show? UGH!!!!

(Whoever wrote the title of this thread, you got it oh so right!)

I really, really like Joely Fisher, so I watched yesterday. Could not stand it. I turned it off after about 20 minutes. I wanted to see Joely being interview - Joely talking. Barely got that.

Now if she had the adorable guy with glasses (his name escapes me at the moment) Mr. Super Shy guy, do a restaurant review, that would be worth tuning in for.

Okay. I have (what I immodestly think is) a great idea for this show!

Cancel it, scrap it, can it.

Then...Bethenny should let good buddy Andy Cohen know she's available and team up with Kathy Griffin to co-host (with one or two more people, male or female, maybe that blonde woman Kathy had on in the beginning, the "real person" who was low-key but funny) Kathy's failing talk show.

They are friends, they both CAN be funny, and the topics Bethenny wants to talk about (nitty gritty of women's life) would help Kathy break out from talking about REal Housewives and "my gays". Plus, they are both overly candid, sarcastic and can be pretty hilarious in the right setting.

And Bethenny makes KG look low-key. Plus, B. is at her best, imo, when she is NOT the center of attention, but is part of a group. (And HER comments about the HWs, which seems to be required of KG, would give it more interest than Kathy just saying, "Did you see how dumb Alexis Barbi was?")

Kathy might get Bethenny to seem likeable again. And watching them talk over each other might even be kind of hilarious, in a "OMG what a trainwreck!" sort of way. Maybe they could have a segment where KG helps B. become a standup comedienne. And they both go shopping together and B. helps KG learn about how to accessories, etc. (KG looks great, but B's the one with the great fashion sense).

Kathy's mother could stop the boxed wine and start drinking SG margaritas.

There are so many things that could make that show fun. (And, yes, add some guests. But "D List" ones).

Come on, Andy! Get a "View" for people who like their talk shows a little more "real".
