From Wikipedia:
The Killing (Danish: Forbrydelsen, "The crime") is a BAFTA Award-winning and Emmy-nominated Danish crime TV series produced by Danmarks Radio. Each series follows the police investigation of one specific case, day by day, with a one-hour episode covering 24 hours of the investigation. As of 2012, there have been two series, with a third in production.
Based on my experience with other shows that haven't aired in the U.S. and seemingly have no immediate future of doing so, I'm going to assume the mods would prefer this thread not be spoiler-tagged (otherwise it would be nothing but black bars). I've also seen mention that the showrunner of The Killing has made it clear that it won't be the same killer. (At this point in The Killing's progression, it actually cannot be--something I assume Veena Sud did intentionally to prove she really did mean it.)
That said: I first started watching The Killing because of Mireille Enos; there was so much talk of Forbrydelsen on the early thread posts that I tracked it down online. I loved S1, even with its red herrings (20 episodes' worth). It hasn't made The Killing look so great in comparison, although a lot of elements are pulled directly from it.
Anyway--hoping to scare up some others who have seen the original, so we don't have to talk behind black bars in The Killing's thread.
