[I Am A]

We need a thread to discuss who Gossip Girl is/isn't, since (I hope) we'll find out at in the series finale in the fall. So, guesses? Speculation? Clues? I would love it to be Serena. I haven't watched since the Season 3 finale (looks like I left at the right time, by the comments on TWOP) but I have always wanted Serena to be Gossip Girl.

I doubt we'll ever be told; in fact I doubt it's even been decided. Still, it could be fun to discuss.

There are a lot of problems with Serena as GG. Just in the last part of Season 5, we had Serena taking over as the fake Gossip Girl, and apparently trying to find the genuine one. Still, by reinterpreting what happened it might be possible to explain these problems away.

I've sometimes had a feeling that GG is Serena's dark counterpart, something like Hyde to her Jekyll.

Like the poster above, I don't think that the show really knows. I saw somewhere that they don't know if they could actually reveal it on the show because the books are out there as a separate reality, spinoff (ha) possiblities etc.

If it was one of the main 5 characters, the only one I could see it being is Chuck. I can't really think of any possiblities that would rule him out for me like I can for the others.

I've heard speculation that it is a group of parents or something, but it would make sense to me if it was Vanessa.

I've also heard speculation that it was CeCe (on her own or with the parents). I could see it being he. Maybe she chose Ivy as her successor and Ivy is the new GG. May explain why CeCe left everything to Ivy since that just didn't seem like something CeCe would do. Leave her fortune to charity and give Ivy a couple million, sure, but I feel like there's more to the story and it somehow involves GG.

This is fun. I have no idea who it could be or if the writers even know. Safran did an interview saying we won't see K. Bell in the final season :-( ......I used to think it could be Dan, but I doubt it now. I hope, if they do 'out' GG it isn't one of Blair's minions or something lame like that. Since we saw that grainy photo, which seemed to look like a male figure...all the more interesting, IMO. I wonder if they will leave the series finale with a heavy 'speculation' on one of the Main 5, with a sort of "wink" and fade out....and we'll never know 100% for sure. As mentioned, because of the book series I don't know if they would be able to definitely reveal GG's identity.

It’s a reference to the books/show Pretty Little Liars. “A” is the pseudonym for the mysterious person(s) who is harassing the main characters and threatening to expose all their terrible secrets – mostly in regards to events surrounding the death of one of their friends. So sorta like Gossip Girl except that A's actions are more targeted and vengeful.

I think it would be best if we never found out who Gossip Girl is.

So we'll definitely find out who she is and given all the actresses returning, we have a lot to choose from. Personally, I'm hoping for an appearance by Kristen Bell in the finale, regardless of whatever else happens.

I can see Dorota as Gossip Girl for some reason. And in the video, she probably sent some skinny cohort to get the laptop.

I really can't see any of the 5 main characters as Gossip Girl. Here are the reasons.

- Nate can't be because he watched that video and is on a mission to find gossip girl.
- Serena can't cuz she was temporarily GG. That whole plot of GG stealing her laptop if Serena is GG doesn't make sense.
- Dan & Blair can't because when they were trying to find Juliet, they IM'ed GG in Blair's room. GG responded with Juliet's address in front of them.
- Chuck can't be cuz GG texted Diana that she knew her other secret (i guess about Bart and her side business). Chuck couldn't have known that cuz he enlisted the PI and Blair to help him find Diana's secrets.

Unless the writers want us to just forget these scenes, I really think none of the 5 can be GG. But who knows... Dan was somehow able to find the wedding video and send to GG behind the scenes, I guess anything is possible in their world LOL

I'm gonna go with my lifelong dream and say/hope it's Eric/Dorota team-up. Not like there's much proof, but if it is one of the characters (and I'm hoping that it is, at least a recurring character), these two make more sense than having it be Lily, Rufus, Lola or Ivy.

I don't want it to be any of the main characters because why would they want their shit posted all over New York/the whole Internet? Some of their secrets have been pretty devastating and it even ruined some of their lives for a temporary time. Sure, Serena may be the logical choice but after becoming fake GG, I don't think so. Nate could be the next possible option (and only option if they want to go down the route of a main being GG), but no way in hell that it's Chuck or Blair. And Dan? I really, highly doubt it. I did think it for a while, but honestly? Nate's a more likely candidate than Dan.

I guess it could be Vanessa, but I'm pretty sure she wasn't around in the first few episodes of the first season and although she could technically be in hiding now, still being GG, I'm not sure. And the parents? Ruining their children's lives like that? Come on; that would be horrible assassination. Although I would laugh if it was Cyrus the whole time.

But honestly, I'd rather it be Eric/Dorota with a possibility of Vanessa/Cyrus/Lola. Just because it would be hilariously awesome, these two are my favourites and it actually makes a lot of sense.

It's funny, because I always in my head wanted it to be Nelly Yuki, just for the shit she got.

Maybe Cece was the original Gossip Girl. Of course that would mean the present GG is yet another imposter. I've always thought Cece had hidden depths.

Nelly makes sense. She has always been somewhat of an outsider. She was treated horribly by Blair and would have the motivation to ruin Blair's wedding.

I want it to be Dan or Rufus because they're both creeps, but I don't think it would make much sense if it wasn't someone who was personally victimized by Serena and/or Blair.

What about Lily? She seems to have a very demented side to her. She has had plenty of motivation to both protect and punish Serena over the years.

I don't think GG is going to be anyone we know, I'm not even sure how long she's been around. Was she around before everyone was in high school, or did she just appear then? I thought it was really stupid how they had her post that she was going to college with everyone, then everyone dropped out of college. I wonder if she's still going to school?

Maybe I'm a huge anomaly, but I've read all the books and watched every episode and have no desire to know who GG is. It never mattered to me in the books because I never saw GG as an actual person or character, just as a plot device. In fact, I kind of like the way the books always teased the reveal (like the time GG was supposed to show up in Sheep Meadow on a red blanket and all the characters showed up there on red blankets) but never gave it up. On the show, I'm a little more invested in who GG is because the show has made it a major quest of several of the main characters, but I still don't really want to find out. Furthermore, I think whoever GG does turn out to be, it will be a disappointment because there will be some event in previous episodes where things don't add up or they contradict each other. I guess for me, it's kind of like some things are better left unknown/unsaid because finding out for sure would be a letdown.

They really shouldn't have revealed who Gossip Girl was because unless they chose a minor character, there were bound to be instances where it didn't fit with previous episodes. I think choosing an adult might have made the most sense. Have it be one of the UES wives who likes to gossip and it would also allow them to keep tabs (to some extent) on their child(ren).
