Agreed! I didn't even wait around for the RC. Plus, Joe was a drip, too. He seemed like a nice enough guy, but it was obvious they didn't click, and he couldn't answer Emily's questions about his future. Glad she didn't just think it was fantastic he said he'd be wherever she wanted him to be (paraphrased). I thought he was rude the way he bolted out of the dinner once she broke down and told him he wasn't getting the rose. At least be polite, dude.WHAT a snoozefest.

Ryan? A 7 page letter? When you have a rose? And she had to read it aloud TO you? Really? No, really? He dropped very far in my esteem after that.
Tony seems unstable. So many others are non-entities. I still kinda like the dad of the 12 year old

Much as I dislike Kalon, he was kinda right--- Single Dad has sole custody, and his son is with a grandparent while he's on a reality dating show. He made it sound like some noble cause -- dude, you're not shipping off to Iraq! He kept asking Kalon to clarify, only to cut him off with a "Check it!"

You know a show is bad if the muppets can't save it.
True. Emily was supposed to be "dancing"? Really? That was so lame.
he bolted out of the dinner once she broke down and told him he wasn't getting the rose.
He should have said "Okay", shrugged, and asked for a doggie bag.

I hate Kalon on general principal and I am so over these single dads who leave their kids to "find love". I call bullshit. They are looking to be on TV and be famous.
Emily was a snooze, as is Rickie, who didn't even sing along with the muppets, much less look happy about being there. Leave the kid out of it. Jason with his frigging kid has ruined the franchise because now everyone has their token kid and are single moms and dads, which I guess is supposed to make them better or something.

I was quite amazed that Emily got rid of cute biology teacher but kept really unattractive Alessandro and the Steve Carroll looking one (blanking on names). I'm surprised she kept the head injury guy (I think he is cute) because the way she patted him on the shoulder during the Muppet thing, it seemed like she was done with him.
Funniest part was watching Emily try to dance with the Muppets. She barely moved. Well, I like some of the guys (though Ryan was my favorite up until the 7 page letter), but agree Emily is beyond boring.

I felt sorry for the poor guy she sent home after she did her little number on him. He was completely dazzled by the whole experience and it was obvious he was a complete sitting duck when she rejected him.

I know he is supposed to be the "villain" this season, but I too find myself kind of liking Kalon. And perhaps he could have phrased it better, but he was essentially correct in saying that the single dad was putting fatherhood on hold for The Bachelor. Of course you don't really ever put parenthood on hold, even if you wanted to, but the fact is, this guy chose to leave his son for however long this takes, all to compete with 24 other guys for a woman he saw on television. And while I guess it is sweet that his son told him to go out and do something for himself, the fact is, he could find a lot of women to date without having to go on television, or leave his son for an extended period of time. So yeah, he did put fatherhood on hold. Kalon may be heir to the Massengil fortune (tm HIMYM), but that doesn't mean he can't make a valid point.

And I am sorry, I know guys eat this shit up, but on the date with Ryan when she said she was ready to give up control and let someone else be in charge I nearly barfed. I don't know if I am more disgusted that she said it or that what she said is truly what most guys want to hear. It is like watching the Millionaire Matchmaker, I am never sure if I am really mad that Patti says those things or mad because they are true.

I'm afraid to say it, but I agree! (Except about Arie, I have no idea who any of these guys are other than Kalon and Chris).Don't hate me but I am kind of loving Emily as the Bachelorette. I didn't expect to. She seems like she is doing this on her own terms and calling some shots. Arie FTW!
I like that it seems Emily told them, "I'll do it if this and this and this and this.." Starting with being in Charlotte and "taking them home" (I'll bet her home is nicer than most of theirs, which may have an interesting effect).
ITA about watching her "work her wiles" and the guys fall all over themselves while she's so unsurprised. Kind of makes you want to try life as a platinum blonde (I know she is pretty and has a good figure and all, but I really think a lot of it is the hair and "I'm such a hot Southern girl" confidence". I'm not sure she'd be getting this response as a brunette).
All that, however, doesn't mean Emily can carry TWO HOURS. She is so dull. So I have to say I was so happy to see the Muppets. Love them! More Kermit and Miss Piggy (and the old guys--I've missed them!) Less Emily and...whoever they are!

I was also surprised that she sent home the cute biology teacher! The guys are not all that cute this season with the exception of a few like Alejandro and Arie.
I think it is weird that if she's looking for a serious future husband with which to have lots of babies, she's so into Jef. He's got his charms, but I don't see him unloading the Pampers from the minivan just yet.

The old guys, Waldorf and Statler, should do colour commentary during the RC. It would definitely make the show more fun!

I find Jef sort of intriguing for some reason, but that conversation he and Emily had was inane.
I have serious Muppet love so that made the episode worthwhile. Also. Piggy's talk show host dress was Michael Costello's winning dress design from Project Runway. So that was cool.

I wasn't. Dude gave me serious douche-bag vibes and he did very little to dispel that in his exit. Plus I would have gotten rid of him in the first RC just for that cheesy line about being a Biology teacher but being there to have Chemistry with her. I so hope his high school students torture him.
I think it is weird that if she's looking for a serious future husband with which to have lots of babies, she's so into Jef.
Honestly, I just think she likes him so much because he provides something of a challenge. There's a slight distance he seems to put up with her and I actually think that's part of his strategy and boy is it working.
It was amusing watching her frustration that he apparently wasn't falling all over her in the group date like most of the other guys. I also loved his calling her out on the whole, "I was giving you this look", by telling her that she seemed to be giving a lot of the other guys the look.
So I give Jef credit, he's playing his game very well. Don't seem too eager and into her, a woman of Emily's ego, so used to men falling all over her...of course he'll stand out to her because of that. And all he had to do was not play into her wiles a little, then give just a little when he was alone with her and he got the rose. I thought it was hilarious when he got it, especially seeing the reactions from the other guys.

re: Emily working it. Watching her work the RC, she is, without doubt imo, the flirtiest B-ette ever. I had to adjust the volume because she immediately lowered to her kittenish voice, beguilingly asked each one if they'd accept the rose with just the right head tilt and provocative slight smile...she knows -exactly- what she's doing (including finding different ways to tell Each. Guy. that she's taken "special" notice of him).
Impressive!

Yeah, Single Dad came off like a total douche, IMO. As a mom myself, I get sick of this attitude that parenting bestows some kind of halo effect, where you can't even talk about it without "insulting" a parent. Because Kalon IS right -- he put his day-to-day parenting on hold. Of course he didn't give up his son permanently, or his status as a parent. But he's still dating on a TV show. And that incensed "Check it!" crap deserved to be checked!Much as I dislike Kalon, he was kinda right--- Single Dad has sole custody, and his son is with a grandparent while he's on a reality dating show. He made it sound like some noble cause -- dude, you're not shipping off to Iraq! He kept asking Kalon to clarify, only to cut him off with a "Check it!"
I thought that was the dress! I adore Miss Piggy and her Kermie, but it all felt so forced. Because they know the B'ette is dull as dishwater, so they needed comic relief to move this plodding version along. Emily barely knew how to move--that was dancing?Piggy's talk show host dress was Michael Costello's winning dress design from Project Runway. So that was cool.
I was just saying I liked Joe, and the next moment he was going home. He seemed like one to root for, but then...maybe not a fit for Emily if I liked him, since she's nothing like me! LOL. So far, not rooting for any of them.
Whoever said Emily came from money must be right if she's so familiar with the expensive Greenbriar Resort.
OMG, Jimmy Kimmel did a segment showing Emily's "nice to meet you" (hug) repetitiveness from the first ep. BWAH!! I had no idea she said it THAT often. Must have been 20 guys!
ETA: Forgot to mention... Anyone else notice Emily had a cheat sheet with her to sing Rainbow Connection with her daughter and Kermit? The song is not that hard to learn!

I'm liking Emily as well. I like that she isn't wasting her time with these guys...she knows time is limited so when she has them, she's asking them the serious questions people should ask when considering a partner for life. She's not being blinded by chemistry like previous Bachelor/Bachelorettes, she's actually delving into why they are there and what kind of life they are looking for. But she's also taking chemistry into consideration...if she's not feeling it with you, goodbye! I do think her teeth look a bit too large for her mouth...I wonder if she just couldn't have had her real teeth whitened instead of getting veneers.Don't hate me but I am kind of loving Emily as the Bachelorette. I didn't expect to. She seems like she is doing this on her own terms and calling some shots. Arie FTW!
I also like that Kalon isn't the typical "villain". I don't personally find him that attractive but I can see that he's used to women fawning all over him and I think he enjoys that Emily doesn't. He seems thoughtful....not making any declarations of his willingness to love Ricky like his own until he actually develops some feelings for Emily. Chris was being a douche by the pool. He does think he has the inside track after receiving the first impression rose but many have fallen by the wayside after peaking early. He needs to watch it.
I'm not bothered by the guys that left their kids home to be on this show. Kids aren't fragile creatures that wither away because their parents are away for a few weeks. My parents did it and I turned out fine...I missed them but also liked the feeling of independence. Not that big of a deal.

Jef is playing the disinterested card, which is driving Emily crazy. Not sure about him though as a possible husband. I mean why would she hook up with yet another successful guy with a business somewhere else when it's clear she wants the man she chooses to make his life in Charlotte?
In general, I think all the guys with kids think it's an advantage for them. And I'm kind of tired of hearing it. Kalon definitely is annoying sometimes but he said exactly what I was thinking to the Dad-guy. He said his child was thee most important thing in the world to him. But he left him to go on a TV show. Those two things contradict each other. I actually have no problem with someone choosing to do so but then you can't preach about how your child is your whole world etc.
Eh the Muppets were okay. Never been a huge fan. I liked the cookie part of the date but later that long letter totally turned me off.

That's what I liked about chemistry-free Joe's exit. "You're not feeling it? No need to linger!" If she's done, he's done. Life goes on, and the next adventure isn't here. She's not being blinded by chemistry like previous Bachelor/Bachelorettes, she's actually delving into why they are there and what kind of life they are looking for. But she's also taking chemistry into consideration...if she's not feeling it with you, goodbye!
I was adamant about not watching this season, but then I didn't watch Ben's season and I sort of missed the show. Emily isn't as boring as I feared she'd be, but she really does repeat the same lines over and over and over again with these guys. They have to be laughing as they see this - if they're watching.
ITA. The precious snowflake mentality of "I can never leave my kid!" bugs. And the guy (still learning names) did say that his kid told him to get out. Probably because the guy was hovering too much, which is what passes for standard parenting these days. But I digress.I'm not bothered by the guys that left their kids home to be on this show. Kids aren't fragile creatures that wither away because their parents are away for a few weeks. ... Not that big of a deal.
There were pre-show photos of Ryan and Emily that made this date look so romantic! And it was one of the least romantic or even interesting dates ever. That just shows the power of the publicity and editing machine.

These guys remind me of a commercial that ran a few years ago for some kind of anti-diarrhea medicine. The man is at the Hefner Mansion, sitting in the fabled grotto with a couple of Playmates, when he suddenly has to go to the restroom. The part that always cracked me up came just before he had to run off; he tells the girls he is "in paper," and they say, "Paper! How fascinating!" Emily is faking interest in most of these boring guys and they're too bedazzled to see it. I'm not a huge Emily fan but I think she's way out of most of their leagues.
I'm from West Virginia and The Greenbriar is where people go for really special occasions, like honeymoons or anniversaries. (My parents sat nest to Sam Elliot and Katherine Ross at dinner once!) The idea of taking the kids for family vacations every year sounds like, "Let's take the kids to Paris." I think we can forget about calling Emily a gold digger because, obviously, she already comes with the gold.
Poor Kalon can't say anything right now that Ugly Stevie and World's Greatest Dad are against him. He may be this season's Vienna, with the other guys all carrying tales about him and only making themselves look bad.

Didn't she add something like how she'd "still really be in control but let the guy think he was"? Doesn't that just summarize Emily? And I am sorry, I know guys eat this shit up, but on the date with Ryan when she said she was ready to give up control and let someone else be in charge I nearly barfed.
And that bit at the beginning when she was with the other soccer moms..... anyone else think that the East Indian looking lady who seemed very, very uncomfortable and didn't say a word was actually someone's nanny who was told to sit there to add diversity?
eta:
Re Pompadour Jef: 1) I read that he had long hair and cut after he had been cast. 2) Does anyone else think he looks like Franke Avalon from the beach movies?

I think that Stevie is worse than Kalon. Honestly, Kalon wasn't as bad as the guys thought he was. I felt that Stevie was so immature with his "I don't like you" comment to Kalon.
Man, Joe really left in a huff. He didn't even give Emily a good-bye hug, or wish her the best. He was that mad. But, I was even a little thrown aback when Emily started off with "Where do you see yourself in five years?" and she asked him to clarify, "What does that mean?" It was obvious that they had no chemistry, though.
Wow, the Greenbrier resort was something else.
Emily really likes dates when they're cooking or baking in her own home, apparently. She and Brad made mac and cheese, and now she had Ryan baking cookies.
I was cringing when Emily and Ryan were dancing on that little dance floor outside of the restaurant -- with the crowds taking videos of them. Also, a red carpet everywhere Emily went? The restaurant? The plane to WV?
