From Zap2it:

While treating a patient addicted to drugs, House is forced to look at his own life, future, and personal demons.

Well that was a bit of a cop out. I think i would have preferred it if he actually died.

Call me a Pollyanna, but I liked it. But I did wonder if the others would find out he wasn't dead. Looks like he at least left a clue for Foreman. I hope he let his mom know too, some how. Wonder what House will do after Wilson dies. Will he resurface and end up in jail, or start a totally new life? Hmmm...

With all the returns of past cast mates, it was obvious that Lisa Edelstein wasn't there. At least she was in the retrospective (Swan Song).

I actually thought it was perfect. House and Wilson riding off into the sunset together? Yup.

Other than the glaring absence that was Cuddy, I thought this was a pretty good sendoff. Kinda figured House faked his death when I looked at the clock and there was still ten minutes left.

Enjoyed seeing the old characters return, especially Cameron and Amber. And it ended as it should, House and Wilson riding off together.

I liked it until House's improbable ability to fake death. He switched the medical records?!?! The only way I would have liked that would have been if we saw that someone in the montage helped him pull that off (like Chase).

I do have to say, it ended with House and Wilson driving off together which is probably the way it was supposed to.

Thank you, House, for eight seasons of making me laugh, making me cry, and making me love a curmudgeonly doctor with a Vicodin habit.

Yeah...I thought the death-but-not-death was contrived. And then I realized, I was missing the point! The last Sherlock Holmes story. It was a parallel. Of course. How could I have missed it. And then the closing song, that halluci-Amber had sung in the bar. Nice.

So, what have we learned from all of this? What we have learned is that whatever it is House is calling himself, he's the same annoying, devious jerk he was when this all started. That, and he'll do anything for Wilson. Hell, he's going to spend the rest of his life with a fake ID for that man.

(Also, I think that Foreman's laughter was because he'd realized that House played him one last time and he can't do a thing about it? What's he gonna do? Put out a BOLO on a dead guy?)

Did ANYONE really think House had died? I was OK with the finale. Not exceptional but a fitting ending.

In retrospect, however, I rather wish that they'd either started the Wilson Dies plot earlier in the season or that they'd skipped it altogether. It seemed "rushed" and thus somewhat unsatisfying.

Unbelievable. NOW what can I do on Mondays? I guess this means all along that "House MD" was basically a bromance.

I can't say it was a total surprise, because a lot of people predicted that there would a final homage to Sherlock Holmes. Even Hugh Laurie was dropping some hints by quoting Holmes in his interviews promoting the finale.

But, just because it wasn't a surprise, doesn't mean it wasn't fitting. I love that we got the final and ultimate homage to Conan Doyle. I love that House made the ultimate sacrifice and blew up his entire life to be there, finally, when Wilson needed him.

I liked it. Not the best ep on the planet, but a pretty fitting ending. House got both what he wanted and he needed.

Of course, I may also be kvelling over the fact that I totally picked Chase to be heir to the diagnostic throne 7 years ago--totally should've made book on that :)

Me: That's it? Lame.

Husband: At least they didn't both die first.

Me: It was still lame.

Husband: I don't know why you're upset. This show jumped the shark years ago.

Me: Yeah. I guess it could've been worse.

Husband: Totally. They could've had Thirteen riding off with them!

Me: Ew.

Husband: With her new girlfriend. Then they could stop in Virginia and have a double wedding!

Me: Okay, stop. Anyway, I think you mean Vermont.

Husband: Are you sure?

Me: Yes.

Husband: At least you still have the Real Housewives of Wherever.

Me: *pause* True.

Sherlock Holmes ended basically the same way; so it was pretty fitting. The lack of Cuddy sucked, but what you going to do?

I liked it until House's improbable ability to fake death. He switched the medical records?!?!

No crazier than his other schemes. Dead guy was House's patient, and he obviously had it planned out.

I'm not fond of episodes that take place mostly inside people's heads. I thought it was actually kind of fitting and brave that he died and was annoyed they copped out and he faked his death.

I did kept wondering how come he wasn't dead from smoke inhalation. It only takes a couple of minutes to be overcome by smoke. That's why so many people don't make it out of their bedrooms in a house fire.

That was very bittersweet. I think I was so caught up in it (for the first time in years) that I didn't think House actually faked his death until the text message. I guess I thought 'oh look, there's House staring at Wilson- OH MY GOD! A FLAMING BEAM FELL ON HIS HEAD! OH MY GOD, THE BUILDING EXPLODED!". But the ending wasn't bad. But what is House going to do after Wilson's dead? I don't know if he'll be able to run forever so I'm thinking he'll turn himself in after Wilson's death, because he won't have any other reason of running away and faking his death.

I loved seeing all the characters again (except for Cuddy...I mean, really?). I was very, very surprised to see Amber and Stacy so that was great to see them. I also liked how even Masters came for a two second cameo. I was disappointed, and then angry, that Lisa couldn't/didn't make it. I mean, Jennifer Morrison took time out of filming Once Upon a Time (that I'm pretty sure isn't filmed in the same state than House) to come for the finale, so why couldn't Lisa? Sorry, but that ticked me off but I'm hoping there was a reason. I think she should have at least come for the funeral scene. She could have had her part filmed in less than half an hour.

But it really was a good finale. I wish House had chosen death, though. That would have been a good ending and we could have had the last ten minutes of the funeral and then flash forwarding a few months/years to see how people were dealing.

I like how Chase replaced House and I like how Cameron had a family. It's still creepy to see Taub having lunch with the two mothers of his children. I was very happy to see Kutner and overall, the episode was good. Plus, I laughed at the Dead Poet's Society reference. Hey, it's the finale so meta all the way.

Kind of disappointed that there was no "I love you" after last week, but in the end, House gave up *everything*--even medicine and its puzzles--to be with Wilson. And that's kind of love.

Hated Taub in the montage--wtf was he doing there with the original trio?

Was generally shocked by Stacy appearing and liked that her speech about love went directly to a House/Wilson scene.

Since I hated the whole plotline starting from Wilson's cancer changing from "very treatable" to "5 months to live," the ticket prank and House's parole being rescinded, I guess it was a given I wouldn't be thrilled with this finale. House/Wilson was never the heart of the show for me; it was House and his "one thing." Some of my favorite episodes centered around that theme. But they gave up on it a long time ago, so I shouldn't be surprised. I suppose this is better than actually killing House off, but what a cruel thing to do to everyone besides Wilson. Guess Foreman's find is supposed to assuage any misgivings we might have on that score.

Strictly as an episode, I thought it was slow-moving and one of the weakest entries of that type. The S5 finale beats it all hollow, in my opinion.

Oh, that wily bastard! I'm not at all sure how I feel about this finale, but I'm okay with that. A little dark, quite dreary, but the very end was exactly what I'd expected. Honestly, those two!

James LeGros--popping up on all the grim medical show finales now, is he? Hmm.

It was great to see Kutner, Amber, Dr. Nolan and okay, even Stacy, I guess, but I couldn't help wishing they'd been able to get Mira Sorvino (Cate) and Franka Potente (Lydia) back, too. They were minor characters but they both knew interesting things about House. I'd have loved to have heard their takes on his situation.

Bye, House--it's been surreal.

The ending shot of House and Wilson riding off into the sunset was nice and how I thought I'd like to see them, on a last road trip together Thelma and Louise style.

How it got there wasn't satisfying to me, at all. So if House was going to fake his own death, why all the sturm und drang of visions of Kutner, Amber, Stacy, etc? If he went in the building planning to fake his death, there's no need for the ghostly visitations.

Guess they gave Sela Ward all the lines Lisa Edelstein would have gotten if she'd agreed to appear in the finale and/or the producers asked her to? Even Jennifer Morrison showed up, and she had a cold.

It was okay. Kind of a whimper ending.

All I kept thinking is there must be no love lost between Lisa and producers for her not to make an appearance. It's a shame. Cuddy is one of the reasons I loved this show for a few seasons.

Loved it. First of all, the irony of the title — "Everybody Dies" — was great. Actually, nobody died, except the POTW.

Also, the theme of love's power to cause spiritual transformation was beautifully executed.

House's last pre-"death" line: "I can change." Then old House is consumed by fire and new House is born and exists to serve the needs of his friend. And only to serve the needs of his friend.

So what are we left with? Chase - will go on to be a huge success. Cameron, Taub, Foreman - will probably live happily ever after. Thirteen - same place she was in before. Kutner - still dead. Amber - still dead. Masters - happy whatever she's doing now. Wilson - ????

The door is open. We don't know Wilson will die from his cancer. We think so, but the door's open for a miracle cure. And House can, at any time, reveal his deception and continue on, but now with a new, higher consciousness.

Also, House's last line — "Cancer's boring" — was so perfectly true to his character, we must bow to the mad writing skills.

Excellent finale. Possible #2 after the Six Feet Under finale. Lots of subtext, all of which was totally true to the characters and their motivations.

I am getting so tired of trying to figure out how fictional characters a faking their own deaths! (I kind of wanted Wilson's text message to be "Wrong!")

How embarrassing is it when every major character returns except one? They really weren;t able to get Cuddy, I guess. However, I love you Andre Braugher and you are always welcome to appear in any show I watch!

Emotionally, I found it a satisfying end to House's emotional arc. When he has his epiphany that he can be a better person, it isn't that he wants to be a better doctor, it's that he decides to give up his puzzles for his best friend. I like that. I like the image of him and Wilson riding off into the sunset. I'm actually grateful I didn't have to watch a Wilson death scene.

Logically, my head hurts. Aside from the glaring question of what exactly House is going to do after Wilson dies... This is what I think I know and please help me because I have so many questions and it is quite possible I missed some things.

OK, so, House and heroin guy decide to go on a suicidal bender at some point I missed. Even though House discovers heroin guy isn't dying, just has a branch stuck in his throat. Before they go, House decides to somehow switches dental records. During their bender, someone starts a fire, somehow. And then House talks to all kinds of people and finally decides he doesn't want to die. Meanwhile, Wilson and Foreman somehow know House is in the fire. They see him at the front door but somehow House is able to run out the back before the explosion somehow. And escape the entire scene somehow, without anyone noticing the man with the limp who just fell through a floor. But most confusing of all, House has seen "Dead Poets Society." Somehow.

I'm trying to decide how important all of this is. I think the House/Wilson stuff worked really well but the mystery kind of irritated me. And you know what? Now that I think of it, that really is a fitting ending to the show. Thanks guys!
