The show premieres tonight!
My husband and I are going to watch the premiere with the cast and crew at a local restaurant. You can see my husband (briefly) near the end of this "tour" that Richard Rawlings filmed at the shop:Gas Monkey Tour for Fast N Loud
Richard hollers at him ("Hi, Phipps! We can't hear you, but you can wave!"). The front building (the one my husband is headed towards) is our shop. The back building is where Gas Monkey Garage is located.
Aaron cracks me up. "This is the east side of the shop. This is the west side of the shop." Yeah, it's not a huge building ... but how many cars can they really work on at one time anyway?
Hopefully in some of the episodes, we'll see more of the front shop, too --- there's almost always some really cool car there, including my husband's 1951 Ford.
Did anyone else catch the show last night? We thought the first episode was pretty good -- everyone at the premiere party was real fired up about it. Richard was thrilled to see his long-time dream realized on TV.
That 1951 Ford I mentioned was visible in several scenes last night. It's one cool-looking car ... makes for a nice background (and it's tons of fun to ride in, too).
The producer said the show was getting a lot of positive feedback on Twitter last night. I hope it catches on! In the next 3 episodes, I'll get to see a bit of my husband on-screen; he wasn't in last night's show at all. That's all fine with us, but it is kind of exciting to think of seeing him on a Discovery TV show, so I was glad to hear he'll make an appearance in the next one. The next episode includes a couple of guys from Australia who came over to Texas, and my husband really enjoyed meeting those guys when they were hanging out at the shop.
