The seventh season concludes with Sam and Dean battling Leviathan Dick Roman and trying to stop him from carrying out his evil plans.

Please don't post until after the episode. Thanks!

Earlier today I was watching a youtube video which was highlights from the MST3k episode, Godzilla vs the Sea Monster, where at one point during a shot of the sky Tom Servo quips, "Hi, I'm God, this plot is moving slowly my children."

Still, the adventures of Castiel and Dean in Purgatory is more promising than last season's cliff hanger. I mean there was no up the nose shot.

Okay so - checklist:
Confusing as all get out ending with a cliffhanger that will somehow be magically fixed up by some random deus ex machina and/or Hail Mary fix that doesn't actually make any damn sense

Having the cojones to get rid of Bobby (maybe, probably, not really) yet they still keep Misha Collins even though they have yet again altered his character in some shape or form to the point where he is no longer playing a character but simply Misha Collins as Castiel as Misha Collins which is not so much a stretch.

Dropping the plot thread of the fact that Dick Roman's company had already invaded most of the USA and Biggerson's meaning even if he's stopped theoretically America should still be descending into fat-related catatonic states.

And way way too many "lulz HoYay" jokes and/or running the Get Dick joke to the friggin' ground.

Also got bored and started watching Batman Beyond again. Now that is how you show a soulless corporate bastard that just wants to kill people.

At least I liked the... oh... maybe seven minutes of violence.

And as a sidenote, I like Snow Patrol. I cringe whenever I see a promo using Snow Patrol music because it is guaranteed to be the most schmaltzy and lame thing ever.

Arrow might be good though.

Oh, WOW! I freaking loved this episode! Great ending (or beginning) I don’t know what next season will bring, but I’m looking forward to it. Those red eyes in the woods were really creepy.

Goodbye Bobbi – I admit to feeling a bit cheated in the end there was no real reason for him to come back so I kind of wished they just left him dead from mid-season.

Yay, Crowley is still a bastard and was playing everyone, that’s my King of Hell. Oh and no matter what this show does, seeing Metallicar put a big ole smile on my face. I was a little sad that Dean let Meg drive Baby…that’s just wrong.

I’ve also been conditioned by this show b/c I will always smile when I see “The Road So Far” and they start playing “Carry On My Wayward Son”

Well that was certainly something! Well played Supernatural. Finally a Finale that leaves me wanting more next season. Been a while since we've had one of those. Cool how Dean and Cas took out Dick. Glad to see the Impala, hated Meg driving it(please no more Our Demon Friend Meg next season). Glad Bobby's gone but it was heartbreaking. Jensen was fantastic, Misha was great. If next season is the last, at least I hope we get to go out with a bang, a last hurrah instead of a whimper.

Purgatory looks truly creepy, poor Dean.

Dropping the plot thread of the fact that Dick Roman's company had already invaded most of the USA and Biggerson's meaning even if he's stopped theoretically America should still be descending into fat-related catatonic states.

I thought Dick Roman's company would basically fall apart without him, wasn't the whole point get rid of the head guy, get rid of the rest of them?

Fuck you Sera, don't let the door hit your ass on the way out.

Glad she's gone.

OK, I LOL’d when they played Carry On my Wayward Son because of the remarks made about it.

I love that song Vincent! Cas, you stole my heart, even more.

Cas, anybody can kill an angel. The Levi’s aren’t all that special.

I like Crowley, but I can’t understand what the hell he’s saying half the time.

Cas was hilarious, especially with his sandwiches. Dick is still boring.

I’m glad annoying blond girl didn’t last long.

Meg was annoying tonight, really. Bobby being annoying is a given by now so I wasn’t heartbroken to see him go, although I could have been spared yet another emo episode of saying good bye to Bobby, whose ghost really was quite useless and his return very unnecessary.

Did I say how much I just love Dean and Cas together!

And man Born To Be Wild! YESSSSSSSSSS!! Too bad it was Meg driving the car, I was hoping it was Dean, but I can see why they did it that way.

Thank you for the music and Baby back.

The end, when Dean and Cas killed Dick! Awesome, and holy shit!

So Dean and Cas are stuck together in Purgatory! Wow, this is going to be good. Dean and Cas hunted, I can’t wait!

It’s been so long since I got excited about this show and next season looks so dark and amazing! Welcome back Supernatural!

Glad it is not just me. I hate her voice so much. She sounds she is clenching her teeth when she talks.

YAY! They finally took care of Bobby. I am glad his (second) send off was not some huge "going out in a blaze of glory" type thing. And good on Bobby for recognizing he needed to be let go (Sam and Dean would have kept him around forever).

I honestly can't wait for Dean and Sam to actually have work separately for a bit.

This finale started with "Born To Be Wild" and the appearance of the Impala, even to giving me a shiver of excitement. Until that point it felt more like someone dutifully completing a final assignment and it stalled completely when time was taken out to send Bobby to his final rest. I feel that story should have ended long ago in this manner and taking time out of a cliffhanger finale was bot the right time for in in my view. Requiem in Pace Bobby, hopefully forever.

I do love this scatter-brained Castiel, who is assiduously avoiding the unpleasantness of what he's done, but I do hope he is willing to become more involved next season.

I believe Crowley thought Canada insufficient to his needs. Blame Canada for the double cross my friends.

That place in Purgatory where Dean ended up alone was truly the creepiest thing I can remember on this show in a long time and it was also rather jarring to see Sam completely, utterly alone with no family, friends or frenemies to turn to.

The set-up for next season is excellent and I hope Carver can deliver the creeping terror and bloodshed I enjoy in my horror stories.

I kind of like the idea of the ending, we'll see how the premiere goes and how long they sustain the storyline. Crowley was wrong though. Sam's not all alone. He has his massive sideburns to keep him company.

I'm going to have to watch this again tomorrow. I was really confused at the end. Dean and Cas in purgatory does sound very promising.

And what, coffee creamer to kill all the skinny people? Is that right? What about us skinny people who don't drink coffee? (okay, I know it is moot, but it was a real WTF issue for me in the show).

The scene where they got rid of Bobby sucked ass. As did that weird wavy thing they did when Dick bought it.

I'm glad Emo Cas is still around. Also glad that Emo Bobby is gone. I loved him so very much when he was alive. So very tired of him dead.

Glad Dick is presumably gone. And hopefully the rest of the Leviathans will quickly follow suit.

Did I miss something? How did Cas and Dean end up in purgatory?

What a boring season. That had to be the blandest intro montage of all the season finales - there was so little exciting material to choose from! So, I am glad this season is over and that next season brings hope that it might actually be better. I'm looking forward to it.

I think they handled the end of Bobby as well as they could have at this point. I'd have rather he hadn't come back as a ghost at all, but since he did it's good that they didn't drag it out into next season, and they let him go out before he actually did anything too awful.

Too many "Dick" jokes. Next season may there be many fewer mentions of "dick" and "balls," and hopefully it will go back to being creepier overall.

Well, I have to give Sera Gamble props: that was actually a decent episode. The Kevin and Bobby stuff dragged a little. Honestly, the Ghost Bobby story was a waste, I am so glad he is gone. Just pointless, esp when he had that decent send off in "Death's Door." But I was a little fearful she wouldn't even try, so glad to see she did. She still isn't the greatest writer and I still resent what she did as showrunner, but at least she didn't frack this up for the heck of it. So kudos.

But that ending?? OMG, that ending was AWESOME!!! Dean and Cass killing Dick, then being sent to Purgatory?? LOVE IT! Totally makes me excited for season 8, I can't wait!!! Finally, a decent cliffhanger!! And this sets up great stories for both Winchester brothers: Dean trying to survive in Purgatory with Castiel, and Sam trying to rescue him. And maybe they can do it right with Sam this time: no hooking up with demon betrayers, drinking demon blood, crap like that.

I really hope the Leviathan storyline is over though. Come on, Crowley, be useful and round them all up! I am so beyond done with them.

I'm just so excited for season 8 now, and I love that we have something to look forward to, storyline wise, for Dean!!

That's how I feel. They did the best with the Bobby situation they could at this point and hopefully this will see a reduction in some of the more "frat boy" attitudes, which it's odd that it was under Sera Gamble that these seemed to come to precedence more than under Kripke. They were definitely always there in the writing but it got out of control over the last couple season. I'm just hopeful Carver brings back the creepiness and that they can finally manage a storyline where both Dean and Sam are equally useful and active in it at the same time as well as making good use of Castiel and any others who happen to be around.

The only sense in which I give Sera Gamble credit for this is that she wrote it, I really doubt the ideas were HER ideas or the direction it went was her idea. The whole feeling was so different that I have to assume this was written largely under Carver's direction.

I felt the ep really picked up from the point where Dean burned the flask(great job Ackles) and we know from things the boys have said recently at cons and such that the ending of this episode was changed from what it originally was. Apparently they both disliked the direction the episode originally took and much preferred the change, so I have to assume it was for the better given how it seemed to pick up steam after the first half hour.

That's what I figured

I like how Dean and Cas got sucked in, but Sam standing a foot further away was fine.

I still very much love Carry On My Wayward Son but it also made me super nostalgic for old times... when I'd drive out to my camp with my friend, listening to the songs from the show for the 2 hours and then we'd marathon the first or second season. We haven't watched a season together in a few years...and won't be. Especially this season. Onward to the next, I guess.

Well, that's more like it! I actually not only enjoyed this finale, but also feel somewhat sanguine about season 8. Or at least, about what appears to be a story line for Dean that does not involve angsting about Sam. Yay!

Did I miss something? How did Cas and Dean end up in purgatory?

Cas seemed to indicate that Dick's demise somehow, briefly, opened the door to Purgatory and they were pulled in.

and it was also rather jarring to see Sam completely, utterly alone with no family, friends or frenemies to turn to.

There's always Sheriff Mills. And Charlie (who apparently helped them here). And all the previously-unknown hunters (like Annie) who keep coming out of the woodwork.

I think they handled the end of Bobby as well as they could have at this point. I'd have rather he hadn't come back as a ghost at all, but since he did it's good that they didn't drag it out into next season, and they let him go out before he actually did anything too awful.

I did, too. Though I was definitely a cheerleader for Team Dump Bobby, I was actually a little moved by that scene.

In other opinions: That was a crap finale, with a crap excuse for a cliffhanger that you know's gonna get resolved in the first five minutes of next season's premiere, and next season is going to be awful.

A whole lot of stupid in that episode, there.

I thought it was because Dean and Cas were the ones that actually killed Dick (Sam just happened to run into the room). But then again, I wasn't paying super close attention to Crowley's dialogue.

I wonder if angels go to purgatory when they die. Or demons when they die (since death for a demon means they don't go back to hell?). I am pretty sure ghosts don't go to purgatory (or that one ghost they talked into stop being a ghost got one nasty surprise).

Awesome finale to a very satisfactory season! I like when villains explode (or in Dick's case, should that be ejaculate?!) James Patrick Stuart was so fabulous as Dick.

Hope to see Kevin & Meg back next year. And may there be lots of excellent monsters in purgatory!

And speaking as a Canadian, Crowley you are welcome to rule us :)
