I'm willing to give this a shot because of my aforementioned liking of Matthew Perry, but I see this going no more than, say, five episodes, and that's me being generous. It also spells doom in that not only is it opposite New Girl, but Happy Endings, too.
I guess it's a good thing I read that MP plans on also still doing his recurrent lawyer gig on The Good Wife in addition to this show. That tells me he knows the odds are shitty and, hey, if he can do two shows at once - one being semi successful - more power to him in the long run.

And MP would likely get all of the credit if that happens.

But seriously. If I wasn't a fan, I would SO be all, "Stop trying to make Matthew Perry happen! It ain't gonna happen!"
But Chandler Bing is easily one of my favourite top 10 TV characters of all time. And easily one of the , if not the, funniest.

Go On is said to be August 8th/9th and, I guess, iTunes and Amazon will also have said sample, if the write up is correct.
So, cynically, if it does suck, we will know BEFORE its September 11th premiere date.
ETA: And still more about the show from today's TCA panel. I'll say this much for NBC: They are really pushing this show in terms of advertising/exposure.

I've been thinking Go On looks like Community with most of the weirdness sanded off ever since I saw the trailer. The apparent cream of this rather corny crop is Go On, a sitcom starring the always-game Matthew Perry, which will be getting a special preview next month in between pole vaulting and hurdles. Go On isn't a bad pilot, just a creaky one: it concerns an acerbic radio DJ (a job more overrepresented on television than "architect" or "sassy ethnic friend") who recovers from the death of his wife via a quirky support group. One could be charitable and say it's a remake of Dear John, or be honest and call it what it is: Community with kindly Bill Cobb in place of Chevy Chase and a wilted pile of Megan Fox jokes where the Dreamatorium should be. (Doing the same thing again and again and expecting a different result isn't the definition of insanity. It's the definition of Hollywood.)

I'm on the fence about this show. Some days I think that I might give it a shot. I'm ok with MP, the rest of the cast looks promising...but I fear that it might be an old schtick after seeing "Anger Management" (or as I call it "Charlie Sheen Being Charlie Sheen Is Still Funnier Than Two And Half Men").

Worth asking - what the hell happened to Matthew Perry? He looks like 10 miles of bad road, bloaty and haggard. Is this booze and cigarettes? They should really not light him too well - he looks like hell in HD.
Well, between the booze, cigarettes, AND his past issues with prescription drugs (see Friends Season 3 for scary thin; Season 6 for the other end of the spectrum and the true meaning of bloated), I'm not surprised it caught up.

I was pleased to see that Tyler James Williams (Everybody Hates Chris) is in it. I'll definitely give this show a try.

But I'm just pointing out that his past issues have, for better or worse, affected him physically.
I also plan on checking this out. I'm going to try to remember the preview on 8/8 (at 11-something after the Olympics! Yikes!), but if not then, its real start date in September.
I would like for the show to succeed for MP's sake, but being up against not one, but TWO other popular established comedies (New Girl/Happy Endings), and I don't think this really has a shot. And it is on NBC, a far cry from its Friends TV dominant era.
If this does fail, I have read his role on The Good Wife as a villainous lawyer is recurring (and have heard raves for MP's ability to do drama), so maybe his character will turn up back there.

I'll watch this show (or at least an episode or 2 to give it a try), but I really like MP better in dramatic roles - I thought he was very good on The Good Wife and before that he had a small role on The West Wing which I liked him in as well.If this does fail, I have read his role on The Good Wife as a villainous lawyer is recurring (and have heard raves for MP's ability to do drama), so maybe his character will turn up back there.

I really like MP in his The Good Wife role. They have a fairly large cast of judges, lawyers and other legal types who pop in occasionally as part of different plots. His character has only appeared in two episodes, but he will certainly do more.

I noticed MP's voice was just...odd. Except for when he was yelling at the football player who was texting.
As for the concept, it was...okay, I guess. I still have no idea how the hell such a concept is sustainable as a comedy series. The whole "group of eclectic weirdos" has been done to death on other shows, but they were somewhat amusing. I did like Owen (the guy that played Chris on Everybody Loves Chris) and Ryan's little back and forth. Just not sure that is enough to keep tuning in. As for the end, that was just...weird for weird's sake.
What was interesting, if problematic, is that I thought MP was actually extremely effective during the poignant/dramatic stuff more than the comedy here.
So, it is a good thing Huff Po reported today that
I really do not see this lasting. And I see no chemistry with Ryan/Lauren. I'm ASSUMING we are supposed to. The rest, too soon to tell. But, yeah, I have no idea if I'll tune in next month. But I sincerely wish MP and Company well with this.
ETA: This was part of FOUR episodes?
