Wow, they did pick some frogs, I guess this season is going to be both boring and ugly and yet here I am againfor another season of tears.

Thought it was funny that she said "Gracias" to the Brazilian guy, at least it worked for the Columbian. The skateboarder with the Hairspray mop, the Grandma guy, the Wolf, the egg (can't wait for someone to break it), bobbleheads, the obligatory racecar driver (she knows so much about racing, surely she's heard of him) and they had to top the horse with a douche in a chopper.

Were there only 5 sent home today?

Why does the Bachelorette website have Bentley, William, Blake, Ames and Ryan P. on this season's bios?

Next year they should make Chris H. the bachelor. Too early?

I was hating myself for watching and then the rejected guy at the end peeled off his shirt to show Emily "what she was missing." And then I thought, douche, you hate yourself more for doing that on national TV!

Did Emily have a problem with the African-American guy? He was one of, if not the best looking guy there...not that that's saying much. What a collection of losers and unfunny dorks!

The dead fiancé mentions numbered at least five. I was anticipating more, but the contrived inclusion of a race car driver will ensure it continues. I can't get enough of Emily re-telling the story like she's talking about an old Seinfeld episode.

Oh, and this show was terribly boring.

I can't believe some of the guys she kept: the MC, the "old lady", the egg guy. Really? And the helicopter guy is soooo arrogant. I didn't think I'd like the skateboarder, but he seems like a decent guy with his act together (his own company with a strong charitable mandate). Liked the single dad with the letter (now that's a good prop!)

Skateboard guy looks like the nerd from Sixteen Candles.

I liked the guy who fell off the balcony. He had a good sense of humor. Did he get a rose?

Race car guy seems pretty sweet.

Okay, I know there are different kinds of intelligence, but is Emily dumb? She told Bio Teacher she failed both chem and bio.....in high school.

I don't judge her for her early unwed pregnancy but it burns me that she gets a pass on it because she's blond and beautiful. If she were chubby and plain she'd be judged more, IMO.

I find it hard to believe she is so lonely in her big house as she puts it(which isn't probably really hers) most men would find her attractive. Not every guy likes the blonde type but I'm sure she doesn't have trouble finding men. That being said maybe it's her personality that keeps her from "finding love". She really doesn't have much of one.
Her saying she is in this just as much for her daughter as for her? In what way is this show good for her daughter?
How can these men say she is a remarkable women on the day they meet her? Its just ridiculous.

Gag.
Emily has the personality of a dishrag. She’s straight from “GCB” minus the pizzazz.

I got sick of hearing about Ricki when Emily was on before. Nothing has changed.

Egg guy got a rose? And helicopter guy? The guy who brought a letter from his son . . .how transparent was that?

Looks like the men will resort to the “there is something you should know about (xxx)” tactic – just like the women did.

Does Emily have a career?

I can't get enough of Emily re-telling the story like she's talking about an old Seinfeld episode.

Heh. Yeah, not that there's anything wrong with that.

I didn't think he was good looking at all, but I could see that he thought he was.So glad to see him go. Why can't the Bachelorette ever find hot black guys?

I was no fan of Emily, but when I saw her tell someone in the preview "get the f*** out," I must admit, that small show of spirit made me like her a little.

Wow, this season does pack a lot of uggos. They need to bring Brad back or create some fake drama or something because "one guy said she had baggage" does not a storyline make.

Do we have an Alejandro and an Alessandro?

It would be funny if they just superimposed the black guy in during post in order to squash some of the lack of diversity complaints. But yeah, there was no way lameo Emily was picking him.

All the schtick tonight made me long for the subtle wit of a Bob Guiney. And believe me, I never thought I'd ever put the words "subtle", "wit", and "Bob Guiney" in the same sentence, but that's how awful these guys were.

I think Emily is as gorgeous a woman as this show has ever featured, but she is less interesting than watching Ashley Hebert watch paint dry.

I am surprised she doesn't already know the race car driver since she seems like a bit of a groupie.

I admit I am not a huge racing fan, but I am surprised I didn't realize who Arie the racecar driver was. He is Arie Luyendyk Jr. That makes him a bit of racing royalty. His father, Arie Sr, is a two time Indy 500 winner. But I could see Emily not knowing who he is. NASCAR and IndyCar racing are two distinct and seperate entities. And Emily definitely strikes me as someone whose loyalties strictly lie with NASCAR, for obvious reasons. I doubt she cares all that much about other types of racing.

You want to hear a drinking game where everyone would get wasted? If everyone drank every time Emily (or anyone) said "nervous." That was annoying as fuck. SHE'S annoying as fuck. I am already sick of Little Ricky and I didn't even watch the opening crap. I did notice she actually wears a damn shirt that says "Ricky." I'm surprised the "Little" isn't in there too.

These guys didn't make much of an impression but I did like the head injury guy. And the guy with six kids? Really? I thought he was joking. I wonder if they are all with the same woman and if he was married. I am surprised she doesn't already know the race car driver since she seems like a bit of a groupie.

Anyway, can't stand her. But what else is on Monday nights? Ugh.

Is it some sort of deal now that you need a schtick when you get out of the limo ? Good grief. I understand wanting to make a good impression but don't act like a total goober right off the bat. Grandma, Egg, Beatbox, and Prince Charming can give it a rest.

And Emily's personality is a negative void. What a blank she is.

Oh dear. I don't know what's wrong with me....I didn't hate it. The guys were so bizarrely off in terms of "props" and wackiness that I was cracking up---like the ostrich egg! It was so odd. I cannot get a read of Emily at all. She looked bored and uninterested most of the time but then sometimes she seems really genuine.

I was determined to dislike skateboard guy immediately, but I think he might be my favourite out of the gate.

I liked that too. That has got to be directed at helicopter guy. Got to be.

Do you mean she's not the brightest because she failed the classes, or because she took them in *high school*? If it's the latter I don't quite get it, because it seems pretty standard high school curriculum to study those subjects at that level (usually as freshmen/sophomores).

Thought it was funny, too, that she said "Gracias" (instead of "Obrigado") to the Brazilian guy but she was nervous and on the spot.

I really fault abc for spelling the country "Colombia" as "Columbia" in the subtitles. Then again, can't expect much awareness of diversity on this show.

Arie (Jr.) hasn't done much in his racing career, but he is the son of Arie Luyendyk, a 2-time Indianapolis 500 winner. He's basically the IndyCar version of Ricky Hendrick, except the Hendricks surely have more money because there's a lot more money to be made in NASCAR.

I had never heard of Arie, Jr. before, and I don't particularly follow any kind of car racing, but as soon as I saw his name and occupation on the ABC bios page, I made the connection to his father. I would assume that Emily would recognize the name, too.

I don't dislike Emily, she seems relatively sweet, but not a lot going on there as far as personality. She reminded me a bit of Helen from "Bridesmaids"

But despite this, all the men were ooh-ing and aah-ing because she has that look that most (or many) men dream of for a trophy wife. The blonde, perfectly manicured and made-up with the figure look. She is pretty by all standards that men tend to go for.

...but,ugh,those teeth...

Ashley may have been a bit too perky at times but she had a personality. Yet, a lot of guys in her season wanted Emily because Emily had that look. Its a shallow world out there and I think we saw it with all the guys saying the word "gorgeous" over and over again.

But that being said, I'm hoping to see some gumption come from Emily this season. She doesn't come off as bitchy and wasn't a mean girl in her Bachelor season. I just hope she has something going on in her head that doesn't go for the guy who can give her the biggest lifestyle or something. I hope engagement #3 leads to a happy marriage.

Yeah, some of the guys came off as douches. Major douches. Helicoptor guy was a pain and the "Ducky" look-alike who kept bitching about him got on my nerves too. I think I liked something about that really blond guy Sean. The single dad wasn't bad either, Doug. Guess we'll see who she picks.

I'm dying to know who she told to "get the f*** out" to in the previews. Good luck, girl.

She got knocked up at 18, and he was 24. How long were they dating and "engaged" for? I know its in the south, but seriously, thats cutting it close. Anyways, I think its very sad that he died so tragically, but that does not mean that she DESERVES anything just because she lived through such a sad event. I do not wish anything bad to happen to her, all i am saying is that it seems that everyone is like, "Ohh you lost your fiance, I'm so sorry, you deserve to find true love" as if others do not. Emily is pretty but she is boring and has absolutely no personality. Even when she laughs its like, stilted.

This show is just getting more and more ridiculous, with the stories of pity and all the set ups and "wow" factors. Like really, come on. And what was that guys story who fell out of a window or something? I forgot what he said exactly, but it sounded to me like he was covering for a drunken night at a frat party gone horribly wrong (unfortunately that happened several times at my college). All the gimmicks are just plain annoying.

Me too, oakgal, I'm liking this season too.

I love that the guys are totally discombobulated by Emily--lately the bachelors have been more into having fun in the frat house than connecting with the Bachelorette. I love that she is not going to be insecure and "I hope he likes me" like Ashley and Gillian were made out to be. And I like that most of the guys aren't anywhere near model handsome and the producers made them bring the quirkiness.

Gorgeous dress tonight, too.

Why are there no hot guys this season?! I mean, I am truly shocked. I usually like the Bachelorette more than the Bachelor because *I* get at least 5-10 gorgeous guys to act as eye candy. What is the point of having a beautiful girl like Emily and sticking her with a bunch of ugly losers? Fleiss..you failed big time with this one. Emily is the kind of woman that can pick from the best...sorry, that's just how life works. Am I supposed to believe the best she can do is skateboard dude? Come on. Plus, this episode was boring as hell and I saw nothing in the previews to make me think the series it will get any more exciting.

To think I was looking forward to this edition more than any in recent history. What a crushing disappointment.

Obviously Emily is not a natural beauty. Did you see how much makeup she has? And her hair was so stiff and she kept petting it. I thought for a minute she had borrowed one of Kim's wigs from RH of Atlanta.

I didn't really like her dress. It was the back with the dark sheer part that ruined it.

I was hoping for better looking guys. And why did so many of them walk funny. I was cracking up watching them walk up to Emily. I suspect alot of them never wear suits and were uncomfortable.

Hopefully the travel parts are at least interesting. I have to hope the guys have great and entertaining personalities because so far they aren't that great looking.

Me neither, I like Emily. She seems friendly and non-snooty without being some ditzy, self-involved Kelly Ripa type. "Mature" might be what I'm shooting for. She was worried about not being cool enough for skateboard dude and called herself dorky. Somehow, I can take that from her while it was insufferable coming from model mean/girl winner from The Bachelor. No, she's not a dork either, she's breathtaking. And probably tired of people thinking she's not outgoing enough and is coasting on her looks. She has possibilities of being un-bland. And I was sure she'd get rid of the Steve Carrell lookalike but she didn't. She's not cookie cutter, she just needs a few drinks. I'd like to see where this goes.

Oh my gosh, it's starting again. Every single season I say that I'm not going to get sucked in. I saw it start, I flipped away to watch some 5-0, then went back at the end. I'm going to really try to stay away.

I think Emily is sweet, and she's in my opinion one of the pretty Bachelorettes they've ever had on this show. She might not have much personality, she might not be very deep, but I don't think a lot of these guys tonight really care about that. How many guys did we hear tonight say she was such an amazing person? How do they know? After one night? Come on, they all just think she's hot and want to get in those pants.

I felt sorry for the 41 year-old with six kids, but really, what girl wouldn't run away from that? That's a little much to handle, especially when there are so many other options.

As a hetero guy, I feel completely comfortable being envious of that dude's abs at the end of the show. Holy Ryan Reynolds, that guy was ripped.

I have a feeling this season we're going to see more men crying than we have ever seen before.

I've seen every episode of every season of this franchise. This is the first time I found my nerves being grated every few seconds, like with a wicked sharp cheese-grater grated. Almost everything that came out of Emily's mouth put my nerves on edge. The woman is so fake-ity fake fake, she says the exact same phrases over and over in the same perfectly poised yet emotionless manner. "Thank you for coming" (hug), "Thank you for coming" (hug), "Thank you for saying that, you're so sweet" "Thank you for attending my soiree" ... Gag!

I don't know how I'll make it through an entire season of this dim bulb bland blonde. If a true villain emerges, I may end up rooting for him -- it's not as if SHE'S actually "there for the right reasons" anyway.

Why (dare I ask) did she not choose the black guy? He seemed like one of the better choices, compared to the frogs she had to choose from. Guy in the bright green shirt, really? Egg guy? You've got to be kidding me.

So, Miss Emily's great ambition is to marry and pop out kids. Wow, what a come-down from dentist Ashley.

The guy with six kids bemoaning finding love. Give me a break. He's 41! Could it possibly be he's not looking for the right kind of woman, meaning one his own damned age? I can guaran-frikkin-tee there are women in their late 30s and 40s who would give him a second look, though some may have kids of their own.

I am surprised she doesn't already know the race car driver since she seems like a bit of a groupie.

This guy is an Indy guy, not a NASCAR guy, because yeah, I wondered too but husband explained.

Why do I feel like little Ricki was 6 during Brad's season? How has she been 6 for 2 years?

The timeline that ABC has given us over these seasons seems fishy. Especially the statutory rape parts.

Dear ABC, it's ok. We can (probably) handle it if Emily is actually older than 26. She has the plastic surgery of a 47-year-old anyway.

I liked it and I like Emily. I didn't hate her on Brad's season, but didn't really care one way or the other for her. I thought she seemed prettier tonight, but I guess that's normal - they get the makeover treatment, although her's seemed a bit of a makeunder. I see no proof that she's either dumb or unintelligent. She's blonde and has a Southern accent. If she were brunette and had a New York accent people would judge her intelligence completely differently. (Sorry, as a blonde I have issues with the stereotype.)

I never think most of the guys are good looking on these shows. Usually a few, but I'm not so much into model types, so I didn't think this group was abnormally ugly. A few real duds, a few cuties, the rest could kind of go either way depending on personality (no lie, I thought Reid was totally not cute when he showed up on Jillian's season and was completely in love with him by the end). I did think Jef the Skateboarder was cute, as well as Ari the racecare driver, and the dad that got the first impression rose (Doug?). Emily definitely seems to have a type. She likes the blondes - a lot of them looked a little like Brad.

Her one-on-one with Jef was really interesting. I think she really likes him. When she worried that she wasn't cool enough for him, it reminded me of her with Brad. And you could tell that he thought the skateboard gimic was kind of dumb now that it was over, but then he was all "oh you liked it? Uh, never mind..."

At least Ben Flapjack is gone. Emily may not be as perky as Ashley, but at least she's not a goober like Ben.

I'm pretty sure Emily ends up with Chris H. this season. He seemed really into her. (I'll admit I'm watching this for the first time, so I don't know how he acted towards other Bachelorettes on previous seasons.)

I thought her dress was really unflattering. It weighed her down, wasn't really fitted and gave no support. It was sparkly, though.
