Sam and Dean must locate three key items to defeat Dick Roman and the Leviathans, and Castiel aids them in their request. Meanwhile, Bobby attempts a new ghost trick that turns out to be extremely dangerous.

Well, it wasn’t too bad, quite a bit disjointed, but ok. Of course I can see Gamble’s touch, which still sucks but it’s comforting to know this is the last season.

It felt more old fashioned Supernatural, kind of. Good bye Edgar, you were too good for this show. Bobby is still annoying and let him die already. He’s become so obnoxious. D&L did an ok job with this one.
The Alpha Vamp is still very cool. He’s a keeper for sure. I love the way he said see you next season. Hee, I hope so, it’s something good to look forward to.

I can say I’m glad Sam didn’t go to medical school, cause really mr College? Taking blood from the hand? Ouch! You suck as a phlebotomist.

Dean wasn’t totally useless in this episode, and that’s always a plus. But, I don’t know, I can say the episode was ok, but that’s it. It could have been better, but I don’t think it was allowed to because of the restrictions that Gamble seems to be putting on all her episodes since season 6. So what could have been, which was really good, ended up being pretty meh.

I miss Cas, and I miss Dean and Cas.

Dean and Sam (and Bobby) have clearly lost their touch. I knew Emily was up to no good from the jump. And I hate this Bobby as a ghost crap storyline. Argh.

Wow, this episode sucked. Dean got about two good moments, but otherwise, he got nothing. Jeez. I guess the shiny new jacket is supposed to be consolation for Dean once again getting nothing to do? Although hey, at least they made both Dean and Sam stupid as hell in this episode, so props to that.

And the shot of Dean standing in front of the Michael painting was just like rubbing salt in that open wound. Thanks, Show, because I really needed to be reminded of how gleefully you took that story from Dean and gave it to freaking ADAM.

Too bad about Edgar, he was way more interesting than Dick. Bobby just needs to go already. Possessing that woman so he could go after Dick, almost hurting Dean. Inexcusable.

I liked the call back to Eve, but if they aren't going to bring up that Phoenix ash took out Eve and DEAN has Phoenix ash in his system, then it seems pointless.

Alpha Vamp is still an intense actor, and I'm guessing we are to guess he is the big bad for next season? I don't know, that doesn't sound very exciting for me, but we will see. Trust in Carver, because at this point, he can't be any worse than Gamble and her cadre of incredibly boring and creatively bankrupt writers.

There were about three minutes of this episode worthy of the appellation "penultimate" and those were the moments featuring Edgar and the Alpha. The rest lacked any tension or urgency whatsoever and could have been any random monster of the week episode. I feel this part of the mytharc should have started mid-season and been fleshed out far more than it can be with only one episode remaining.

Dean has a lovely new leather jacket...with no backstory whatsoever. However, because it makes Jensen look so svelt, at this moment I really don't care.

I appreciate the continuity with Bobby's decent into madness and that the Winchesters continue to discuss the problem, I just hope it leads to it's logical conclusion and canon isn't thrown out so Bobby can hang on, forever in the background, dumping info as necessary. I feel he has crossed the line with the possession of the charwoman and there must be consequences.

Rick Worthy was chilling tonight, and he told the Winchesters he would see them next season. A little wink at next season's plotline perhaps? I hope so, I enjoy the character and the actor so very much.

Love the alpha vamp. I hope we see him next season!

I just love any episode where Sam and Dean are in pretty much every scene together, working together, and being a team. Those two will always be the reason I watch this show.

I enjoyed the scene with the boys taking the random dude's blood, with him just sitting there between them while they discussed serious!business.

Also, the commercial breaks came at such random times tonight.

Dean got new cool leather jacket! That's the best thing of the episode.
Now he needs to get his Baby back and drive away from this show as fast as possible cause they clearly don't know what to do with him.

There were two brothers doing something worth doing in this episode? Coulda fooled me.

Can't wait to see what Dean won't be doing in the finale.

I think that Gamble is hoping to bore everyone to the point that they don't realize how really stupid these episodes have become.

I would have loved if the episode had been more balanced, that would have been more reminiscent of season 1. But with Sam being the super smart, everything man, I just lost interest. Dabb and Loflin could have done better, but in this episode, they really missed the mark. It was just plain boring and completely idiotic.

The only thing I enjoyed was Edgar and the Vamp. Everything else I could have done without, including Bobby.

I can't wait until Sera Gamble is gone. I hate the way she just wants everything to be all about Sam and Sam to be the only character that does anything. After 2 years, it's become irritating.

Grimm was so much better.

Total lack of chemistry between the leads – check.
Totally boring villain – check.
Bobby ex machina – check.
More interesting guest stars than the Winchesters – check.
Padalecki's facial gymnastics in lieu of acting – check.
Ackles far exceeding the material – check.

Tedious, disjointed dreck, saved only by Rick Worthy. Continuity abysmal – Dean is slammed into the table with nose-breaking force and two minutes later in narrative time, he is unmarked? The Winchesters don't even bother to check the mysterious OFC isn't some sort of monster? They aren't even trying any more. I can't believe that was the penultimate episode.

I'm coming to the conclusion this show can't actually be saved. Though if AlphaVamp's quip about next season was a hint, at least there might be a more worthy bad guy.

I miss Cas, and I miss Dean and Cas.

This. Last week's episode had so many layers and so much angst. The brothers alone are as boring as watching paint dry these days imo. I sincerely hope Carver plans to bring Misha back as a regular, because he is needed. The current onscreen dynamic is underwhelming to say the least, and the Js seem to be just going through the motions. What a difference from 7.21.

By phoning it in? I see your point.

I've never bought this complaint. Don't see evidence of bias, and I never have. The one thing I'm certain of, though, is that the people who've been making this complaint will whip it all out again next year whenever Carver or his writing staff gives Sam anything to do, no matter how insubstantial.

Although hey, at least they made both Dean and Sam stupid as hell in this episode, so props to that.

With Edgar right up there with them: Just how didn't he notice Sam coming through the door with Dean, and then circling behind him? Oh, wait, that's because no one saw the eighteen-footer coming through the door and circling behind Edgar, including the camera. And Sam doesn't even come from stage right, which would be the only direction he could have circled the table, but from stage left, which would have meant that he walked right past Edgar, who apparently lost his contacts. Was there supposed to be a secret entrance we never knew about (and still don't, since it wasn't mentioned)?

Does no one in the writers room give a flying you-know-what about anything making sense anymore?

Bobby didn't actually do anything.

I took the Bobby Info Dump (twice now in his last two appearances) at the beginning to mean that he'd figured out what they needed, while the brothers had just been "chasing their tails" (to quote Bobby). Ex machina enough for me.

I wanted to like this episode, I really did. I usually enjoy D&L's work and the premise sounded pretty cool. No idea what the heck happened. Maybe the mytharc has just been on the back burner for too long? It's hard to have a layered mythology when the show's only now laying down the bare bones of the foundation.

But even aside from the mytharc, the whole thing just felt flat. I did love the alpha vamp and hope he'll be back. Edgar was pretty awesome too. Bye bye, Edgar. Oh, and Dean's new jacket rocked. (It would have been nice to get a little backstory for the jacket but who am I kidding? We didn't even get an explanation for that Michael painting Jim Michaels denied was in the episode -because, you know, lying to fans over meaningless stuff like that makes perfect sense *eye roll*.)

Dean wasn’t totally useless in this episode

Seeing as how Sam was the leader throughout this episode and got the only BDH moment, I didn't see Dean contributing a whole lot. He did kill that one vamp so that's something. Oh, and he looked hawt in his new leather jacket.

I still don't get why it's so hard for this show to write balanced episodes where both brothers play equally important roles. Other shows manage it so what's the problem?

Bobby ex machina – check

Yeah, it's frustrating to see the brothers constantly dumbed down, just so Bobby can play Exposition Fairy. Enough already.

Dean's got a new jacket and he looks good.

Yeah that's all I got.

ETA: I also still don't know why stupid Dick would unearth the God stone since now people know how to kill him. He has got to be the dumbest villain this show has ever had, and that is saying something. Mind you, the Winchesters are even dumber these days thanks to Bobby so I guess they're on an even playing field.

kara, I got the impression that Dick wanted to know how the Leviathans could be stopped, so he could short-circuit it, which is why (I thought) he summoned Crowley: to eliminate Cowley's blood from the equation.

(Of course, God's Word made no sense in regard to Crowley, since he was just a jumped up human himself and not the "Father of Fallen Humanity," which would actually be Lucifer, who (we were told) sired the first fallen human (Lilith) and others thereafter (like Azazel). Then again, creating the Leviathans to begin with made no sense. Exactly what did God think they'd be good for?)

Dean's got a new jacket and he looks good.

That jacket made this episode watchable.

I love the actor who plays Dick. Even though he is given very little to work with, he's hilarious yet menacing in all his scenes. You don't know if he's going to laugh or eat you. And while I'm sick to death of the Dick "puns", the disgusting child in me did laugh at the reporter obliviously asking "Why is Dick so hard to beat?"

It's funny that apparently only Sam and Dean notice that immediately after Dick buys the high fructose corn syrup manufacturer the entire population becomes drooling idiots. Apparently investigative journalism doesn't exist in the Supernatural universe. Or the internet. Or even Jenny fucking McCarthy.

I also still don't know why stupid Dick would unearth the God stone since now people know how to kill him.

It would've made sense if we had any indication that the angels, or Crowley, or any other force was also looking for the word of God. But as it is, it looks like Dick was terrified of Sam and Dean's endless mining resources.

But man...that jacket.

Lemuria. God, like any other omniscient, all powerful being, created the world. And then S/he looked down at it and said, "you know what we need here? Gross, disgusting black ooze monsters, with big ass teeth, who want to eat everything in sight."

And so it was done!

Yea, I got nothing. And I've got nothing on why Dick would dig up the one thing that would explain how to kill him either. I mean, he really doesn't know how he dies?

And how come we aren't even getting into how they were all dragged into Purgatory in the first place? They conveniently completely skipped over that story or exploring any of that. Stupid.

Exactly. But until that tablet was found, everyone thought the leviathans were unkillable so way to go giving people ideas, DICK!

Obscure, and I mean obscure rock band shout-out......first scene when the Gas n'Sip employee is watching Dick (on t.v.), his name tag reads "Mott". Later when we see Dean in the new jacket (holy smokes!)they are at the Hoople Gas n' Sip.
Mott the Hoople. Best known for "All the Young Dudes" (written by David Bowie).
And once again, That Jacket!

I actually did not like the alpha vamp's statement, "see you next season." It just seemed so obvious. That said, I do hope he returns, because Rick Worthy is awesome.

Liked that high fructose corn syrup was the agent of our destruction. That stuff is in just about everything, and I am one of those people who checks food labels to avoid it. Of course, it seemed a little quick for the Leviathan tainted HFCS to be showing up in the food supply and zoning people out. Addressing the Sucrocorp story in earlier episodes would have helped.

How was Bobby able to scope out the first vamp mansion without his flask being in there? Earlier in the show Sam and Dean were able to keep him in the car by leaving the flask in it. Consistency within the same episode is nice.

The fake book at the secret door in the mansion was How to Serve Man.

Best part: Alpha Vamp and Edgar's confrontation. Both of the actors are fantastic and the idea of monster cousins fight it out was the tension the show has long lacked.

Worst part: I will get stoned for this, but I didn't like the jacket. JA looked lovely, but it wasn't exactly like something I would imagine Dean wearing. He's usually wearing some heavy coat/jacket and I'm not used to more fitting clothing items.

Honorable mention: Stockholm Syndrome. I find it an interesting subject.

Yes, it would make much more sense for it to be Lucifer. But nothing else going on here makes sense anyway. Why would God decided, eons after the leviathans were locked away, that he would create a formula for killing them that involved demons and fallen angels and monsters? The leviathans were created first, before angels or fallen angels, long before humans, let alone fallen humans turned demons existed. Then God buries the tablet deep beneath the earth where no one knows it exists. Except apparently for the leviathans themselves. Then again, this same God decided to make angels helpless against them. Honestly, Cas wasn't wrong in thinking a new God is needed.

Holy crap! That's IT! THAT'S what bothers me about him so much! I could never put my finger on it, but there it is!

I can't really get enough muster to care about Sam, and I only really care about Dean because I've been a Jensen Ackles fangirl since he first graced my screen on Dark Angel to perform unnecessary dental surgery for the Virgin Mary.

Which brings me to...

I miss Cas, and I miss Dean and Cas.

Really this is the relationship I find that makes this show compelling for me. Especially where Jensen Ackles and Misha Collins act rings around everyone else, and even moreso when they're acting off each other. It makes Sam kind of like a third wheel. In his own show. I don't hate Sam, but I'm just not that concerned with him.

By phoning it in? I see your point.

Its either a sad statement of the writing or a statement about how he's so awesome, even when he doesn't care he out acts everyone.

I suppose they're both kind of sad aren't they?

Completely agree. Totally boring episode, and nothing that happened made me want to watch next week (or watch this one again).

I tried googling it, and then it became scary. Google images makes baby Jesus cry

Honestly, Cas wasn't wrong in thinking a new God is needed.

I've suspected for some time that the message here was that god had to withdraw from the world because he realized that unless he was willing to force human beings to comply with his will, he couldn't stop them from doing stupid things to hurt themselves. I'm sure when Bobby finally reveals himself to be god this will be the reasons he gives for not helping them, except when he totally did.

Though if the Bible has taught me anything, its that god can be kind of a dick at times.
