I'm going to do the
character's name meanings, however I will be using primarily the Storybrook
names. (IF I can find the Fairytale Land name, I'll try and add it in).
I did this over on the
Criminal Minds Thread and it was pretty fun!
(I had David already done, so Prince James Charming was already halfway
finished).
Hare is what I've come up with to keep my own sanity:
Everyone gets one name (primarily Storybrook - except James Charming, Prince
Thomas, and Belle if she has a first name in Storybrook because her fairytale
name can be looked up if I recall.)
Each character gets a new post to this thread. I feel this will also keep it organized.
Does anyone know if Belle has a name in Storybrook?
Do we know Mr. Gold's first name? (If he has one).
Here are the ones I plan to do:
Prince James/David
Emma
Henry
Graham
August
Regina
Ruby
Ashley/Cinderella
Prince Thoomas/Sean
Mary Margaret – There are no hyphenated names like that in the book I'm using…So
I guess I should just go with Mary? I'm
not sure what to do…Each Letter combination of names is a page each with the
way it is laid out in the book.
Belle
(if he has a Storybrook First Name) Rumplestiltskin
Suggestions? Cora maybe? Daniel?
Classes are ending soon,
and I will try and do 1-2 Characters a week if I can.

(ETA: I'm trying to post a reply to my own topic; but am having trouble. Sorry folks)...
First Up....
James Charming / David Nolan -
J Is The Letter of Refined Judgment
James –
JM (Letter Combination) – The Sterling
Stable, Bright, Talented
Boring, Unfocused Condescending
Charisma – 7/10
Career Success – 9/10
Love & Friendship – 9/10
Power – 8/10
With almost four million individuals bearing some form of a JM name, this group is by far the most popular in North America. Perhaps it has something to do with the judicious, judgmental, and justice-loving letter J, and the letter M's close association with all that is maternal, motherly, and merciful. These names herald personalities of uncommon strength and compassion and JMs are statistically better prepared for life success than almost any other name. It should be noted that words ending with the high-pitched letters (Y and IE) are associated with all things funny, sunny, silly, goofy, spry, happy, and zany, and the Jimmys, and the Jamies of the world are consequently a lot more approachable and a little less predictable.
There's a sense of self-satisfaction (and even a hint of smugness) associated with JM names. For even though they're not the types to throw their weight around, they are usually granted authority over their social groups. People naturally defer to their laid-back style of leadership, and JMs often emerge as pillars of their communities. They may not be particularly big on finesse, but they are certainly open-minded and generous to a fault.
If you know any JMs, you're probably familiar with their mysterious way of ending up at the top of the food chain. Not in the dominating sense—for these are remarkably easygoing people—but the way they seem to know which buttons to push to get what they want.
It's often said that JMs refuse to grow up, and in truth, many of them seem to have a childlike curiosity and a knack for learning new skills. They are secretly very competitive people who see life in terms of winning and losing, so don't expect them to be graceful losers. They simply don't get much practice.
JMs have excellent language skills and it's difficult to compete with them when they're in one of their persuasive moods. They aren't shy about playing their influence to get what hey want, but it would be unfair to label them as manipulative. Then again, JMs don't give a hoot about labels and aren't going to object in any case.
JMs can also be downright shmoozy when it comes to interacting with the opposite sex and often play the field while pondering about getting hitched. And although settling down may be a long time coming, once they've made their decision, JMs will waste little time getting to the child-rearing stage. Like most people whose names incorporate the maternal letter M, nothing pleases JMs more than being able to nurture, teach, and influence their offspring.
D Is The Letter of Dignity, Durability, and Darkness
David –
DV (Letter Combination) – The Wry
Resourceful, Intelligent, Unassuming
Self-Centered, Voyeuristic, Misunderstood
Charisma – 8/10
Career Success – 9/10
Love & Friendship – 9/10
Power – 8/10
When the dashingly debonair letter D is followed by the letter of virility, voluptuousness, virtue, and virulence, it suggests that the intriguing (and somewhat volatile) sexuality found in the words: divine, devilish, devoted, devour, deviant, ladylove, seductive, dervish, and deprave. These are the passionate qualities we come to expect from the Davids, Devons, and Donovans of the world, who could be described as being iron fists in velvet gloves.
One of the surest traits of these idiosyncratic individuals is that they'll immediately destroy whatever pigeonholed they've been assigned to, and because they so strongly resent being stereotyped, they're not going to be particularly happy with this personality analysis. But if you we re going to pick one thing that sets them apart, it would have to have something to do with their ability to take advantage of those fleeting opportunities that most of us miss: if it were raining gravy, they'd be the ones there with a frying pan. This is just one consequence of having a quick mind (even if it's not any bigger than the rest of ours.)
DVs are drawn to outdoor activities and attack challenging physical tasks with gusto. Obstacles are met with static resolve and a healthy dose of humor, and since they tend to dismiss the expectations that society places upon the, their career choices are usually off the beaten path. However, like most people whose name begins with the letter D, they are invariably successful in the workplace and are among the top wage earners in their social groups. Because they are somewhat unconventional in their approach to work, they have an inclination toward impatience when rules and procedures get in the way. Perhaps this sheds some light on why DVs are so often at odds with authority.
When it comes to relationships, DVs have a great capacity to bond. They're known for forming friendships that endure for lifetimes, but when it comes to their special intimate relationships, it will make a unique partner to keep up with their robust sexual appetites. And even though DVs tend to mellow with age, mates can still expect a lifetime of surprises. This often proves tiresome for the less adventurous, who find themselves bobbing in the wake of the DVs enthusiastic wave making.
Children, although not always welcome additions to the DVs busy lives, will be challenged to burden their intellectual horizons. Chances are that their kids will quickly figure out a way around their parent's somewhat heavy-handed style of discipline, and if they can survive the DVs frequent lectures, should profit from a rewarding friendship with them in later years.
I hope you all enjoy.... Who should I do next? The list in the first post doesn't have to be followed to a T.
