I really liked Eboni's photo this week, and in fact really like her. I know she's not going to win, because they've been on her, and because she's been so openly critical of her assigned brand, but I think she's getting a pretty bad rap here.

I think she got a horrible brand (which in itself is stupid anyway), but I just really hate her attitude, the way she treated Kyle in the beginning, she was like Laura, and funny enough, they now hate each other.

I have no idea why Sophie was in Alisha's things in the first place

It sounded like Sophie took one of the dresses and wore it while imitating Alisha. The whole thing seemed like a case of too much travelling and not enough sleep.

Sophie's ever-changing hair in the talking heads is distracting.

Challenge prize is a massage? Even at ritzy hotel, has to be one of the cheapest rewards ever.

I never understood the challenges (like the one in this episode) where the girls must pull their outfit from a rack of clothes to come up with something innovative. Hel-lo, are these girls all the same size? I think not. It's hard to believe Annaliese and Alisha could share garments (because of their height differences), just as it's unlikely that big, bulky Laura could trade clothes with skinny little Sophie.

I remember back to the good old days in Cycle 11 where the girls had to find innovative ways to fit off-the-rack items to their bodies. Paula Porizkova was the judge of that. And then, in Cycle 15, where the girls were competing to do a tiny hosting gig at the Grammies, and they had to pick out clothes to match their partners' body types. At least then they were acknowledging that all clothes don't fit all models. Now...it's weird. I even thought it was weird when Sophie tried on Alisha's outfits, and not for the impropriety of it either. It was just weird that they happened to be the same size...

I get the feeling that the worms we included in the hopes that one of the girls would have a major meltdown (EEEEWWWwWwW BUGS!) and in the absence of hysterionics the little guys were lost in those photos and became completely superfluous.

That's the only explanation. Because what designer thinks his clothes will sell better if you put worms on them?

ANTM: Mr. Cheng, you know the beautiful dresses that you've spent hundreds of hours designing and creating?
Cheng: The ones I poured my soul into because I knew they'd be featured on American TV? The ones that I hope will tell the world that I am a talented designer with a classic aesthetic?
ANTM: Yes! Those! We're going to put worms on them.
Cheng: No you're not.
ANTM: Yes! We are! Because they're silk worms. Get it? Your dresses are silk, and the worms make silk? Right?
Cheng: Get the fuck out of here.
ANTM: Hahahaha! Help me carry the worm box, would you?

I thought this as Tyra said models sometimes forget the picture is just about selling the clothes. Because there is no way that putting worms on someone would make me go, "wow! I gotta have that dress!" In fact, I think I'd make a mental note to stay away from that brand as I don't like things living in my clothes besides me.

How many of those girls knew where Macau was? How many thought it might be a department store or ice cream parlor or something? At least 2 I bet.

Is there anything even remotely fashiony about Macau? Or are we even pretending to go someplace relevant to fashion anymore? I'm guessing they just looked for someplace that would comp a lot of their expenses in exchange for the exposure.

Oh, I don't know. Elyse once filmed a commercial for the Macau Casino Royal Hotel with Chow Yun Fat.

I too wonder how many of the six could have placed Macau on a map...the way it was edited, it seemed like Analise knew it was in Asia, but who knows...

This was such a strange episode to me - everybody (minus Catherine and Annaliese, of course) had some stank attitudes this week... including Mr. Jay! My best friend and I decided he was on his period - that's the only explanation we could come up with for the way he was acting at the photo shoot. Usually he's pretty helpful, but this week... not so much. The whole Alisha/Sophie "feud" was so out of left-field too. I did enjoy seeing Laura and Eboni being forced to go to the spa together. Why couldn't they have made the other girls administer the massages like Cycle 6? Or even just bring back Furonda to administer the massages? I miss Furonda.

Farewell, Queen Caferine, ye shall be missed. I kind of went into this episode knowing she was done for, but I'm still sad to see her go. Her roots were straight-up brown at panel - why is Sophie's hair always perfectly pink and Catherine's never seems to have been redyed? Poor Annaliese will have to bring all the positive energy in the house now that Catherine is gone. I was DYING when Jay asked her what would make her sad at the photo shoot and she said, "Someone dying?" and then smiled behind her fan like a geisha. I could not pull myself together after that. So adorable. And that was definitely not her best photo, but I feel like I shouldn't blame Tyra on this one... she seemed pretty sad to see her go. It reminded me of C15 Jane's elimination - Tyra seemed to be rooting for her this week, and then tells her as she's leaving that she'll be successful.

I'm now firmly rooting for Annaliese, then Sophie, then Alisha, then Laura, and not at all for Eboni. Laura looked very pretty at panel (minus whatever the hell those tights were), and Eboni looked very modelesque with her hair pulled back when Nigel came to visit them at the house - I will give them that.

I'm totally feeling a Sophie/Laura final two though... there were a lot of talking heads of them saying that the other is serious competition.

And Kelly Cutrone, she-devil/spawn/Satan's mistress, was awful as usual. Her hair did look she might have washed it this week, though, so props to whoever did that for her.

I think that's the first time anyone has said he's been helpful! Don't get me wrong, I love Mr. Jay, but he has been totally dead wrong when coaching these girls. When he's not doing his usual sighing and eye-rolling, he's giving a girl great feedback and they usually end up in the bottom two!

Also, Furonda is a "model, not a masseuse!" LOL. Thanks for the memories, I think I'm gonna go find that episode online now!

I miss Furonda.

No one misses Furonda more than me! Why didn't she come back for All-Stars? Why?

Anyway, the Chinese astrology thing was interesting. Whatever element you're lacking in your chart is your "lucky element." You need to wear more of it in order to create the balance in your life that attracts fortune. For example, if your lucky element is water, you should wear more wet-look, black spandex unitards. That part of the challenge was sort of legit. As far as aura reading, etc., that has nothing to do with the more mundane aspects of Chinese astrology.

On that note, I'd still like the show to revisit the astrology shoot that featured Lluvy's fish face and Nicole's pooping lion. The concept was terrible. As the person who wrote the book on fashion astrology, it would have been much more fashionable with me involved.

The fade-out shot now has Annaliese in the middle of Sophie, Alisha, Eboni and Laura. I suppose that means that she's going out next because it will create the best two US vs. Brit rivalies: Laura vs. Sophie or Eboni vs. Alisha. I picked Eboni to win before the competition even began, but her portfolio has been terrible so far. Even Tootie and Whitney had a shot or two that I liked this deep into the competition. I'm sensing a Sophie vs. Laura final from the editing, too.

You realize you're assuming that placement in the bottom two has anything to do with the quality of one's photo shoot, right?

The whole Alisha/Sophie "feud" was so out of left-field too.

Last week when they did the runway challenge Alisha was slagging Sophie off for being fake with the designer who had lived in her home town. While I do think she's being a little over the top, I understand it. Sophie's parents sent her to private school (only around 7% of UK kids go, and a hugely disproportionate number go on to work in the entertainment industry) so it's highly likely she's not only rich but well-connected, educated to the highest standard she's capable of attaining, has the right accent for finding work easily (any kind, including waitressing) and is extremely confident (growing up around posh people, you learn how to compete). Sophie's parents have a lovely home and support her career emotionally, if not financially. She's friends with Emma Watson, see them chilling at Coachella with all the other rich kids and celebrities? Her boyfriend appears to be in an up-and-coming band. Then to top it all off she's tall, thin and beautiful, and of course white. Sophie was born with all sorts of privilege, and she has a fucking nice life. She's won the birth lottery, why should she win the ANTM lottery (let's not pretend it's a competition based on merit)? To me Sophie a spoilt, arrogant, posh bitch who clearly has a sense of entitlement if she messes with other people's stuff without asking and doesn't put it back! Frankly, if she and Laura are the top two I hope Laura wins, and I hate Laura.

For example, if your lucky element is water, you should wear more wet-look, black spandex unitards.

That must be the element I'm missing, because I always get lucky in my black spandex unitard.

Oh, I don't know. Elyse once filmed a commercial for the Macau Casino Royal Hotel with Chow Yun Fat.

That right there is why I love this forum, and why I will never be able to explain to people in the real world. You know, they say "I love America's Next Top Model," and then you have to explain to them who Jade was. Weaning myself off these boards will be hard, but it's the only statement I can give to the producers that they're fucking it up next cycle, since I watch online!

Maybe I meant kind of helpful... I've been rewatching old cycles lately, where he actually was at least a little helpful, i.e. telling the girls if they were doing bad and what they needed to fix. This week was just him huffing and sighing the whole time. I feel like if they were given more direction than "show emotion" (duh), the photos as a whole would have turned out better. None of them really wowed me this week, and some were just straight up bad - Alisha's made her look like she was 20 pounds heavier, and yes, it made the dress look bad.

Oh, Furonda. I miss her. She was hilarious. The best part is when she asks where Nnenna's purse is - so she can get her tip for the massage. And I loved her list of rules too! "The best person to talk about me with... is me."

No one misses Furonda more than me! Why didn't she come back for All-Stars? Why?

No idea! She showed up in Cycle 10 (currently watching) for that stupid homecoming game thing, so why can't she compete in All-Stars? Come on, Furonda. I miss you.

I don't personally have a problem with Sophie, but I can definitely see what you're getting at, and what Alisha would be getting at. To me they've been pretty neck and neck talent-wise, so I'm interested to see what the next few weeks hold for them. If it's not Sophie in the Final 2 with Laura, then I think it's definitely Alisha. As much as I would like to see Annaliese win it all, I know it's not going to happen, because Satan's Mistress/Kelly Cutrone so obviously hates her. Gah. This show. I really let it get to me.

Well it is isn't supposed to be about who needs it the most either...it is at least supposed to be about who has some kind of "star quality" in whatever Tyra's definition of that is. I don't see it in Alisha, personally. I think Sophie might have it, but she won't win-not after the astrologer said she would be famous...

I laughed so hard when Tyra told Alisha modeling was about selling clothes. Oh? Is it? I thought it was about keeping your hair in pigtails and branding yourself! Silly me.

Anyway, I was sad to see Catherine go. I felt they never gave her enough focus and as usual I have to doubt whether that was her best picture or not. I thought Annaliese did wonderfully and I am so sick of Kelly's stank attitude about her. She's so blatantly obvious about who her favorites are that I can't help but roll my eyes every time she opens her mouth because she's so painfully biased. I also found it kind of interesting that all the other girls were told to do some sort of sad emotion, yet Laura got to orgasm all over the set.

I'm still not sure who I think is going to win. I prefer the British girls, however I'd be surprised if one of them won "America's" Next Top Model over one of the American girls.

Saying someone shouldn't win because of their life-circumstances is as bad as the hamsters saying they should win, regardless of looks, just because they lived in poverty. If you want to do this, have the ability to do this, and can get jobs doing this, then you should be able to do it. Wealth, privilege, poverty, trials and tribulations, and "wanting it" should not factor into it.

I like Sophie based on what I've seen on the show. I like Laura, but dislike that she keeps bringing up alcoholic parents. It actually makes me root for Sophie more than her. And if Alisha is jealous, then that's on her. Sophie shouldn't step aside from something she wants to do just because the odds ARE ever in her favor!

Obviously, but after 17 cycles we know that's not really how the show works. By this point I don't even care about the competition being about merit (though it is more interesting to watch if each cycle has at least SOME potential models). If you're going to arbitrarily award someone a prize package including a $100K contract, you might as well give it to someone whose life will be changed for the better (like Eboni got that scholarship that I'm HOPING she deferred for a year rather than turning down - those girls' sacrifices are never rewarded).

I don't know if you're a Brit like me or not, but I've met a number of girls in Sophie's position and they aren't all as arrogant, vain or indeed fake as she is. My dislike of her isn't just about her privilege, and I don't think Alisha's is either (they're competitors) but I think it's a valid point to consider. Then again, they do say us Brits are obsessed with class in the way Americans are obsessed with race (each with good social and historical reasons, might I add).

Really, I suppose any of the remaining 5 could be...although Eboni does not have much of a personality, if that is really so key. And Analise has a bit too much, but she is charming as well. Laura ranks low in personality, but takes decent photos. Alisha is kind of so-so and Sophie can be great, can be average, but she does look like a fashion model and can be editorial.

Right now Alisha is getting on my nerves bigtime with her cattiness and jealousy. I really liked her up until she started in on Sophie...it is a shame she could not keep it hidden at least...

That's my thing, Bebecat. I can't stand when a hamster decides that someone else is the reason they aren't doing as well. Or, when they let it show that they resent this person doing well. It's called life and you need to put on your big girl panties and deal with it! She can feel that Sophie isn't deserving of it. But, what can she do about it, other than raise her own game? Whining and making faces does nothing to make Sophie look bad. In fact, it makes Alisha look petty and, IMO, undeserving. What? You can't win this if Sophie's there?

I think the producers must encourage that pettiness...maybe they are asking questions off camera, such as don't you hate that it that Sophie is doing better than you, etc....honestly, unless all of these girls are so insecure and mean-spirited (which is a possibility)...then I have to think this behavior is encouraged.

I also think that the producers encourage the pettiness. From what some of the girls say, in their post show exits, things get blown out of proportion & are made to be worse than what they are. I believe nothing that I see on ANTM.
