Given the plethora of oft-repeated lines, memes and tropes in both the TV show and the books, I'm actually quite surprised that nobody has already started this topic before. Since the TV series is rated TV-MA and the books contain even more adult-rated content, the thought of consuming adult beverages while enjoying a visit to our favourite fictional realm seems appropriate. So without any further ado, here are my humble first additions to the Drinking Game of Thrones. I'd say spoiler bars for events that haven't happened in the TV series yet are appropriate.

Lock your car keys up. Don't lose your head - drink responsibly!

Take a sip whenever:

  • Anyone says "Winter is coming" or repeats any House Words (Hear me roar, We do not sow, etc)
  • Anyone says "A Lannister always pays his/her debts"
  • Anyone says "Words are Wind"
  • Anyone says "Dark wings, dark words."
  • Anyone says "For the night is dark and full of terrors" -- two drinks if it's someone other than Melisandre or a whole group.
  • Joffrey commits a blatant act of physical or emotional cruelty
  • Joffrey gets slapped. Looping the slaps only counts as a single occurrence.
  • Anyone mentions onions when referring to Davos.
  • Tyrion -- ah, to heck with it. Whenever Tyrion does or says something awesome, which is always. (LiverOfSteel™ may be required here.)
  • Hodor says "Hodor."
  • Bran wargs into Summer.
  • Whenever the name of one of the novels or the name of the entire series of books (A Song of Ice and Fire) is mentioned.
  • Dany gets whiny.
  • Dany recites her full titles (one sip per title - LiverOfSteel™ may be required here too)
  • Sexposition occurs. Two sips if it's anything other than Doggy-style (a.k.a. Game of Thrones position)
  • Samwell does something heartwarming, heroic or decent.
  • Sansa says/does something stupid (LiverOfSteel™ territory once again)
  • The Hound does something kind.
  • The Mountain does something evil.
  • Dolorous Edd says something dolorous or witty.
  • Littlefinger does something creepy.
  • Dragons do something important (i.e. not a fashion accessory or part of an establishing shot).
  • Stannis performs an editorial task or corrects someone's grammar.
  • Arya is referred to as a boy.
  • Arya recites her hit list.
  • Anyone says "Valar Morghulis."
  • Ygritte says "You know nothing, Jon Snow. LiverOfSteel™ -- or a transplant -- may be required for book readers.
  • Two drinks if anybody else says it.
  • Whenever a character or characters are in a bath or pool.
  • Whenever The Rains of Castamere is played, whistled or performed in any way.
  • Whenever The Bear and the Maiden Fair is played, referred to, whistled or performed in any way.

Optional:

  • Raise a toast "TO HBO" every time there's gratuitous nudity or excessive bloodletting.

Take a full shot whenever:

  • A new named character is introduced.
  • A named character dies. Two shots if he or she is executed as opposed to just dying in battle, disease, being murdered or by accident.
  • Any major character comes back to life (by any means other than a flashback). Only drink on the reveal.
  • Any major named character is permanently disfigured in some way but otherwise lives.
  • Any form of incest, twincest or inappropriate intra-familial touching occurs.
  • Two shots if it's in a religious setting.
  • Arya takes a different name or identity.
  • Any time a severed head is shown (multiples count only for one drink).
  • Two shots if s a former POTUS is visible.
  • Prophecy is revealed or discussed.
  • Prophecy comes true.
  • Any character "turns his cloak." (becomes a turncoat)
  • "Dracarys!"
  • There is a wedding. More than one shot bottle may be required by the viewer/reader.
  • Any character wargs into something other than his/her direwolf.
  • A character is tortured.
  • Westerosi history or lore is revealed.

A full shot of Crown Royal whenever:

  • A new king is declared or self-declares.
  • A king dies.

Let's add to this, shall we?

Spoiler

I'm not sure a LiverOfSteel™ could even save you from alcohol poisoning for this one.

Others to add:

Take a sip if
*One of the Lannisters utilize the CondescendingHeadTilt™.
*Sam goes on about how he misses girls.
*People say "King in the North" when Robb leaves the room. Two sips if it's in respone to something menial.

Take two sips if
*Someone mocks House Greyjoy.
*Someone makes reference to the sexual adventurousness of the Dornish.

Drink the whole bottle if
*Someone who's leaving says that he will see you again/discuss something when he gets back. You're probably going to need it.

I'm in, but only if somebody helps chip in for the booze (that much liquor would get really expensive really quickly!) and helps pay for the hospital bill when I end up there when my blood is more alcohol than blood.

I agree: "To The King In the North" deserves a sip. For the spoilered line, I agree if they hold to it in the show as much as it's said in the books, the Liver Transplant list will get somewhat longer.

Oh, and for everything related to House Greyjoy, it must be Kraken Black Spiced Rum!

Hmm, maybe each House should have their own signature beverage. Any ideas?

Lannister: Goldschlager - How else do you think Lord Tywin's shitting all that gold?

Stark: Howling Wolf Beer

Arryn: Falcon Beer - Or perhaps Dreamwine would suffice?

Targaryen: Any thing from the Dragonmead brewery

For Best friends like Eddard and Robert: Elk & Wolf Chardonnay (yeah an Elk's not exactly a stag. But that's pretty close!)

A stag is a gender, not a species. It's any male deerlike thing.
And what about the Tyrells?

For House Baratheon: Dalmore single malt Scotch.
For House Tyrell: Four Roses bourbon
For House Martell: This would be fitting. Martell Cognac.
For House Targaryan: This little beast should do, but there are dozens of dragon-themed drinks out there as well.
Obviously any good wine for the Arbor but that wouldn't really be an issue for a while yet.
For the Night's Watch: A Harvey Wallbanger.
For the Magisters in the House of the Undying: Anything with Blue Curaçao.

And for Gendry: Jäger-bombs. A shot of stag in a glass of bull.

Take a shot:

*every time the "iron price" is mentioned
*every time someone says "what is dead may never die"
*every time Cersei refers to Sansa as "little dove" or some other faux term of affection
*every time Maester Pycelle is seen in the company of a naked woman

Take a sip:

*every time Ros has a scene with one of the series' major players (Tyrion, Littlefinger, etc.)
*when Ser Jorah drops his knowledge of how things work in Essos (i.e., "There is no word for 'thank you' in Dothraki", "Every time the Qartheen close their gates, the garden of bones grows")
*every time Bran awakens from a dream with a start

Have a shooter:
*every time Myrcella speaks

Radagast: No, that would be for House Heterodyne ;D

How about just taking a drink every time Tyrion takes a drink? Bet you could get pretty sloshed that way?

Why limit it to Tyrion?

Take a drink any time anyone takes a drink.

Take two if it is Tyrion.

Finish your drink if there is clearly wine visible in the scene and Tyrion doesn't partake.

After last night's episode, we could probably make a Cersei drinking game.

Take one sip if...
she calls Sansa "little dove"
talks about being a mother
makes reference to "a woman's weapons"

Two sips if...
she makes reference to performing taboo sex acts (incest, bestiality, etc.)
expresses disdain for Joffrey

Drink the whole bottle if...
Cersei explicitly gives someone a glass and makes her drink. Thirst is irrelevant, it's wine not water she's giving you.
