So I am confused, is she giving her clients the "full service" or not?

It's only handjobs. See, that way she's still above an actual prostitute and can elicit sympathy from the audience.

What is really funny is how when she's not working her shirt is unbuttoned to the navel, but when she's working it's buttoned up (when not in lingerie or costume).

Funny by the speed by which she made the back payments on the house I assumed she went all in. with the cut scenes just being plausible deniabilty for those who think it takes penetration for a sex worker to be a prostitute.

We're supposed to believe that all of these very attractive well built men are paying that much for just a hand shake?

Did anyone else get a kick out of how in the only scene JLH did not have her boobs hanging out that she instead showed stomach and jumped up and down? When they first showed the bar scene I was amazed that she was mostly covered up until she took to the stage and started bouncing all around. I love JLH and think she's a decent actress, but it saddens me that she cannot get work unless she's half naked.

The minute she came out in the lingerie I though we dropped any pretense of a happy ending after the massage and that she went straight for the main course without wasting 30 to 45 minutes plus the energy on foreplay. That in fact 'the client list" was those men who went in as Johns and not who asked for something while his clothes were off and she was touching everything but "it"

So I guess the Selena character is setting up to be the resident villain? Not bad to see a little animosity added there. Creates some potential storylines.

I liked that they added a little drama to the client of the week in this episode. Would like to see more of that.

Was it just me or did they let a curse word(sh*it) slip through the dialogue?

No kidding! Of course, if they showed saggy old coots and fat bald guys with a beer gut and hairy backs, it wouldn't be sexah, would it? THOSE are the types of guys who frequent those places. Hot looking guys don't have to pay for it - just go to a nightclub!

This series won't last. JLH needs to find some different work other than showing cleavage.

I noticed that too. Maybe Lifetime is trying to become edgier like other cable channels.

Pay for what a woman wearing lingerie to talk to them? I guess it also won't be sexy to show JLH on her back. The economics make no sense, if she is there for a full session she can she what 8 clients a day. Exactly how much extra can she earn it tips.

Now if she was outside the club with the other prostitute maybe she makes money. The way they talk about the overwelming client load you would think she gets the guy up, gets him on, gets him off and gets him out so she can see as many men in an hour as she can in a day talking.

The movie was soapy fun, the watered-down TV show just makes no sense at all. The massage spa only gives happy endings but also legit massages, rather than being a cover for prostitution. No mention is made of the grueling schedule and commute, which caused JLH's character to get hooked on coke in the movie. The husband bailed for no apparent reason other than a secret drug addiction...his brother hangs around gazing at her with puppy dog eyes...and the silliest part of all, there is a Client of the Week to whom Riley provides wise counsel while at giving a massage/happy ending. I suppose this is remotely similar to the movie, in which she reeled in a bunch of clients by memorizing their favorite things/everything they told her.

This is a cheap, silly vehicle for JLH. Colin Egglesfield's career confuses me, and what the heck is Cybill Shepherd doing here?

I think this show is entertaining and JLH charming, as usual. Colin Egglesfield's career confuses me too though, lol. However, he's great eye candy and has good chemistry with JLH.

I believe they purposely changed the tone of the show to keep it light.

This series won't last. JLH needs to find some different work other than showing cleavage.

I don't see why not. It's an easily watchable show. You don't have to know any background to watch it and it's light. The ratings have been fairly good since the debut.

A bit surreal seeing Elisabeth Rohm chewing the scenery as I used to watch Law & Order a lot back when she was on. Amusing.

I liked the one liners tonight and you can see the developing of some stuff possibly getting out there about her life later in the season.

That's pretty much my opinion, and yeah, the ratings have been strong.

I'm confused about why JLH gave a happy ending to the law student. She's handing those out to anyone coming in? That's a little strange to me. Reckless. Like the person would need to be checked and vetted not a random law student wandering in off the street who is clerking for a judge and Loretta Devine as no idea who the heck they are and that they can be trusted. It seems they would have been exposed long ago if this was the process and its been established that they give plenty of regular massages. Anyone else confused by this?

I figured happy endings were for the random customer. The kind who runs his hands up her legs to see if this is just a massage. Afterwards he would be added to the list, or taken outside of the club and cutting the madam's fee for some of the prostitutes. Meanwhile for the screen client list the lingerie costumes went on and the hand was the beginning, not the end.

I really don't think the show is implying that she's having full-on sex with the clients. I agree with the poster who said if that were the case, they would be showing the emotional repercussions of that. Not to mention they would show her doing more: on top of someone, kissing, there would be talk of protection, etc. Of course it's not realistic that all of these hard-bodied hotties would line up to pay just to get a hand-job, but that seems to be the reality within this show.

I didn't see the movie, but I heard that in the movie, she did end up giving full service and got hooked on cocaine. But I don't know if this show is going to go down that road. They seem to be making this show more of a light romance or something.

Yes in the movie she definatly was going all the way with clients and she knew this from the start of her first day, there was no confusion about it. Also in the movie, her clients were not extremely attractive, most were older and not really ugly, but not the hard bodies she deals with in the series. They touched on the emotional side of what she was doing.

I do wonder if the series will eventually have her go all the way with a client.

I thought I would like this. I didn't mind the first episode, and I've watched the others, but it's a little too light for me, given the means by which she makes her money.

I think I would like it better if they didn't treat it like it's no big deal, and that there's nothing at all wrong with giving hand jobs to people who pay for it.

It's still prostitution in my book. I think I was confused because I thought I heard one of the characters say something along the lines of 'there's nothing wrong with it'. I thought maybe it was just a massage in a sexy costume with a little role playing or whatever. But they do give hand jobs.

I'm not trying to be judgemental or anything. It's just kind of squicky to me, that they are treating what they are doing as just good clean fun. I might like the show better if they did have some feeling of guilt of shame. Or even just embarrassment. I know that they aren't blabbing to everyone about what they do, but the nature of the business requires them to be discreet.

If you're getting a man off for money, no matter how you do it, you're a prostitute. It's not just an innocent little 'extra'.

And like I said, I'm not offended or upset by the premise of the show. I just wish it was a little more gritty. I wasn't really looking for a cute fluffy little show about prostitution.

The show has been renewed for a 15 episode second season.

As far as some of the darker aspects seen in the movie not being in the show, I'm not sure it's ever going to get that dark, but I'm guessing they'll eventually get more into the impact doing this for a living would have. I think it's just a matter of the difference between a movie and a tv show and not burning through all potential avenues in a story like this right away.

I'm still watching but, hey, not going to talk to myself about it lol. The ratings are still good, so I'm not sure why it isn't garnering more discussion here, but that's the way it goes sometimes.

I'm enjoying it. I like the way they are turning Selena into the villain of the place. Can make for some fun plot-lines.

I'm still watching too. I haven't liked these last couple of episodes as much. Selena and her sneer can go away. I know we need a villain, but she's not someone I love to hate. I just don't like her.

I also don't much care for the guy that plays Riley's husband. He's not that cute to me or appealing. But, I guess they can't have him be too attractive, else we won't support her eventual pairing up with Evan.

Well Kyle showing up happened one episode earlier than I expected but I should have figured it would happen as soon as Evan and Riley had a "moment". At least he had the decency to knock even if he was a jerk about it. I'm surprised he didn't wake the kids. Maybe he did and that's how the next episode will open.

I quite liked this episode. Can't believe the season's almost over already.

I do wonder if the series will eventually have her go all the way with a client.

If not for the hot brother-in-law who's always sniffing around I'd expect that somewhere down the line Riley would get a rich, handsome Richard Gere-esque client who immediately falls in love with her and wants to take her away from her sordid life; cue missionary position sex with bra still on. But as it stands, Colin Egglesfield might as well have ENDGAME tattooed across his forehead and I bet they'll avoid crossing a line at the massage parlor so Riley can wear a white dress to their wedding (except for the gloves).

I love this show. I wish there were more discussion about it. It's light, cheesy fun and I like the characters. The only thing I don't like is Riley's righteousness over how she thinks she's making a difference in her client's lives. Great songs, too. I always have my Shazam ready to find out who the artists are.

This was the first really strong episode yet, especially as Riley was focused on her own life rather than "helping" a hot client. The music was amazing, if slightly dated and not always quite right for the scene. "Poison & Wine" is so amazing but neither that nor "Where I Stood" were really appropriate for the scenes.

Evan is the right man for Riley and of course Kyle would show up. I don't believe he'd have enough respect for Riley to ring the doorbell. She shouldn't take him back...but their history will complicate things. No excuse for leaving without an explanation. She's been doing quite well without him.

Too bad Dr. Mark turned out to be Dr. Douchebag.

Not sure why someone would get a "Brazilian blowout" on too-long extensions. Seriously, the extensions thing is so played out. Though perhaps not in Podunk, Texas?

Speaking of which, I finally had to look up the actress who plays Selena on IMDB because her Southern accent is So. Freaking. Bad. Yep, she's from Brooklyn. Sadly she is 10 years younger than I am but looks a few years older than I do. I wish they'd gotten a stronger actress for this part. Someone who could not only do the accent but actually lend some vulnerability to the role.

Lynette should have insisted that Taylor make her the salon manager.

I adore Loretta Devine in everything she does (I still can't believe she is doing this show!) and she looks beautiful!

Oh after Evan and then Kyle showing up I completely forgot about Dr. Douchebag. He really took a downer didn't he. I never really saw anything coming of that anyway but I was disappointed they made him so stereotypically snotty.

And is it me or has Cybill Shepard gotten younger as this season has gone on. I looked at her in that last scene of this episode and thought she looked fantastic.

I'm concerned for Georgia and her girls and I'm sad that DeAnn lost her job over it but I'm loving Loretta Devine in this role.

ETA: CapsChick I'm with you in really liking that there wasn't really a client of the week this week. I like more of the focus being on Riley's life too.

Kyle is a fucking jerk. I'm sorry. I don't care how "smothered" you feel, you don't run off without a note or a phone call and leave your wife, children and brother high and dry. Lacey was right, he could've been DEAD for all they knew. If he wanted to leave Riley he could've stayed at his brother's for a little while and still be able to visit his children. I am so happy his brother called him out on his behavior.

How dare he tell her "I'm hurting too, you're not the easiest person to come back to." I don't condone violence but it was satisfying when she started shoving him! He's an ass. The fact that Evan was the one who had to take her to the hospital when she was in labor with her daughter doesn't surprise me.

The kids were cute. They were happy to see him again, as they would be, they love him but also mad at him for leaving. I'm glad Riley assured them that SHE wasn't going anywhere.

What's even worse, something could have happened to Riley and his kids would have been without either parent. If he felt smothered and needed some space, the least he could have done was given them SOME way of contacting him in an emergency.

I'd be done with him. I hope Riley doesn't give him a second chance. Have him return to being part of the children's lives, because your father is your father, but no way would he ever be my husband again.
