I feel a little foolish writing this after reading all the other comments, but I absolutely loved last night's episode. I was just thinking how pretty Chris's face and hair are and Buddy looks loads better with a shave. You go, Kim, with your CFM heels! I had so much fun watching most every one and it pains me to say I watched the hour with mostly tears in my eyes (sucker!). It is such a shock to see the before pictures, now. Holy cow! (Sorry bad choice of words.)

I sure missed Emily though and would have loved it if she could have still been there. I agree that this would have been the best time to have a two-hour episode instead of one.

P.S. I think Conda is a simpleton. She is so unaware of her behavior. I think a crap upbringing never made her accountable for anything.

I still think it's wonderful that the First Lady is willing to do public things in the name of getting the word out about good health.

I agree. And I think it's fabulous that Laura Bush is the chair of the free and amazing Texas Book Festival, too. First ladies have a great opportunity to promote quality of life, and regardless of politics, the ones that do are A-ok in my view.

A Clairol representative with brassy blonde hair that washes out her face- I'll pass on the Nice-n-easy, thanks

I thought I was the only one that noticed. Not good when your colorist has the worst possible color hair. I was mentally making her over in my head. Ugh.

I think that's fine, but what I don't think is fine, is letting a network use the White House to film a scene of their reality show, a standard "reveal" done every season, that has nothing to do with the First Lady.

I didn't have a problem with the way the family members were dressed at the reveal. The room they were in is one that is on the public tour (or was when I went back in the early '90's). They were all better dressed than a good share of the tourists that go through there on a daily basis.

Neither here nor there, but back in the day - pre-Lincoln, I believe - any body could just wander into the White House for a look around.

Yes, but at this point that's just good strategy anyway. Conda may get to the finale by gameplay, but neither she nor Jeremy can win (unless maybe they lose a couple of limbs), therefore the alliance keeps both Buddy and Mark safe (because Conda and Jeremy will return the favor and keep THEM in the game) AND guarantees them a noncompetitive finalist to go up against. No brainer. Why would they want to go up against Chris or Kim when the Slug Family is willing to hand it to them?

But what is to keep Conda/Jeremy from breaking the alliance if they have a good reason to? Like you said, neither can win if Buddy makes it to the finals, so for Jeremy to win, Buddy has to be eliminated.

Let's say Chris and Buddy fall below the yellow line. Kim would be expected to vote for Buddy I think, so If Conda and Jeremy also vote for Buddy, Buddy will be eliminated, then Jeremy would likely get to, and win in the finals. All he would have to do is stay above the yellow line for just a few more weeks, and with Mark, Kim and Chris left, (all three of which are nearing their target weight so big numbers for them will be hard) it will be rather easy to do.

Buddy has to eliminated for Jeremy to win, and the game is nearing the end so backstabbing will less likely come back to haunt you.

Isn't the top prize a million? I think Conda and Jeremy will feel their first alliance is to each other, and all that money.

--------------

I too am ambivalent about Kim. I agree with the negatives, but she also has two big positives imo. She works very hard and she is the anti-Conda. I hate Conda way more than I hate Kim, so if Kim succeeds, the better the chance she has to foil Conda.

Won't that be sad if Conda and Jeremy get to the end on game play rather than hard work? Can you imagine the finale, when they burst through the picture of their "former selves" and they are still obese??

I hope this is a lesson to TPTB that the this season, especially one of no excuses, should have been a yellow line from the start!

This show has become forget me TV & I got around to watching, or FF'ing last night. What a bore! I too am tired of the use of very special places for filming. First the Arizona, now the White House. This isn't a story about true heroes, it's about people learning how to exercise on a reality TV show so they can win money & inludes poorly inserted shills for products of the week. Have a moment at a casino & talk about addictions, food & gambling & it'll feel more special. Or at least more real.

And shut up Conda! The drinking game this year should've been whenever she refers to herself. Me me me. Everything is about her & the world revolves around her & it we were all drinking we'd be passed out & wouldn't have to watch this sorry excuse for a season. It wouldn't even take too long to get looped. There is no way to play out a redemption arc for her that I see working. And I really don't care because this season is about apathy for me. Forget no excuses I just don't give a crap.

Finally... Dolvett, my eye-candy Dolvett... you really screwed the makeover vibe baby. You can look so pretty in some not so pretty things but that suit was just wrong. It was obviously sewn with threads of your Kryptonite & sucked away some of your hotness.

The music blasting in between sentences during the challenge was irritating. Why the huge discrepancy in volume? I'd rather hear what was being said than hear dramatic music thundering. I think it's shameful that the whitehouse was used in a reality show. There was a link given in one of the other threads showing TBL t-shirt wearing people working out playing in the whitehouse as if it were a gymnasium. http://obamafoodoram...a-welcomes.html I don't care who wins anymore, the thrill is gone.

I thought half the job of being First Lady was to make appearances that tied in to political causes or were in support of important constituencies. This was no different than being filmed with a bunch of schoolchildren to show that she and the President "support education".

Technically, the First Lady does not have a job. She is not paid for the work that she does. For the most part, First Ladies chose causes that are important to them and promote them. They tend to be politically safe, literacy, education, taking care of military families, and they try not to make gaffs. Obviously, Mrs. Clinton was the exception to the rule but everyone knew that she wanted to sit in the Oval Office one day as the President so that was no surprise.

I have no problem with Mrs. Obama appearing on the show. I think using the White House for the reveals is hokey but I am sure stranger things have happened there.

Someone upthread mentioned that Conda is all about "me me me." I just watched this week's episode, and when they were waiting for Michelle Obama to come in the room, they had clips of everyone saying how great it was they were going to meet Michelle Obama. Conda stated that Michelle Obama was going to meet her.

Not much else to comment on, I agree with a lot of the stuff that's already been said. Mainly that there is nothing in the world that could ever make me forgive Conda. She is a nasty mean person who deserves to suffer horribly.

I wish that I had never looked in the other thread to see this, only because the blog comments were disgustingly vile. It should have come with a warning.

Having not seen much of this show before, can someone please explain what a red line is? I only know about the yellow line. Thanks.

If you fall below the red line, you are automatically sent home. Sometimes they'll have both a red line and a yellow line. The person with the lowest weight loss that week automatically goes home, and they vote to send home one of the next two lowest people, who will have fallen below the yellow line.

To be fair, the White House has a gym. I wouldn't be the least surprised if it turns out that they are working out in the White House gym. The White House also has a bowling alley and a movie theater. And living quarters, including a private family kitchen, as well as the big kitchen for official dinners.

I'm glad Michelle Obama is taking every opportunity to bring attention to obesity, even if it includes "meeting Conda".

It was not in the gym, there was a potato sac race with comedian Jimmy Fallon in the East Room. Michelle and Jimmy-Fallon also had a tug of war in the Diplomatic Reception Room. The room where the TBL contestants was not in a gymnasium. I saw the pics before they were removed.

I couldn't believe (actually, I could) the sour face that Conda was making during the family reunion segment when the attention all shifted off of her and onto her brother. Everyone was doing the 'Oh, Jeremy! You look amazing! We're so proud!' schtick and the camera cut to Conda for a second and she looked completely pissed-off to no longer be the center of attention. That girl acts repeatedly like a selfish 3rd grader in the body of an adult.

Chris usually makes me feel sad. Something like makeover week happens and she seems so happy and excited and ready to make changes and embrace life. Then reality comes back and smacks her in the face and she's ready to give up again. It's sad because if she doesn't win the big prize, that's probably it for her. She'll go back to her old life, and I don't see her feeling inspired to keep a healthy lifestyle with that kind of pressure hanging over her head 24/7.

Overall, I think I'm rooting for either Kim - who seems to have come back to life, found her personal equilibrium and stopped hating everyone around her over the last few months - or Buddy. Buddy is kind of forgettable. I honestly think that by the time the next season rolls around I'll have totally forgotten his existence, but while he doesn't make a big splash, he seems like a pretty decent person compared to Mark or the slug sibs. He joined the Conda alliance because he knew it would benefit him and he's never been dishonest about that, which is more than I can say for Mark. That man just strikes me as a hypocritical hard-ass.

I think the show at the beginning with Conda and Jeremy lamenting sending Megan home was BS.

Firstly, I don't believe for a second Jeremy and Conda don't coordinate their votes. Secondly, if Megan was such a good friend to Conda, then no way she would have voted to send her home just before make-over week. Girls get off on that stuff much more than do guys. Did you see how excited Kim was?

Conda voted for Megan because she was more of a threat than Marc. A good friend would not have done that one week short of a major event for that friend.

From the rumours floating around here, it could be that the Kim/Dolvett hug was a little too friendly. I also recall thinking that it was odd that the contestants didn't hug both trainers (or weren't shown doing so).

Conda, no matter how hard they try they can't make me like you. It's all about you in your little world isn't it?

I was actually surprised Jeremy didn't through the competition to save Conda.

I was horrified to see so many people underdressed to the White House. I think a suit and tie is called for when going to the white house. These people were wearing everything from polo shirts to ripped jeans! Ugh, the disgrace.

Chris' son looked pissed at her. He barely acknowledged her and really was giving her dagger eyes. I wonder how bad things are between them. It seemed really odd and I felt a little sorry for Chris. Not getting big huge hugs from your kids after not seeing you for months is hurtful.

...but I was disappointed that they colored it so light. Her dark brown hair is really pretty, one might say the only pretty thing about her, and they took it away...just like Irene. Ken Paves? Not everyone wants/needs to be blonde!

That's one thing that has always annoyed me about Ken Paves. He seems to think only blonde is beautiful.

I didn't have a problem with the way the family members were dressed at the reveal. The room they were in is one that is on the public tour (or was when I went back in the early '90's). They were all better dressed than a good share of the tourists that go through there on a daily basis.

Yes, but they aren't going on a tour with a bunch of tourists. They are meeting the first lady. That deserves a more formal attire.

I'm surprised so many people took issue with what Conda said about Michelle O. "meeting me." I have hated Conda since I started watching this season but it seemed more than obvious that she was saying that "wow, mere weeks ago look where I was and now FLOTUS is giving me the time of day," not, "Oh, she gets to meet ME."

I thought Buddy had a really good makeover and looked very handsome afterwards.
