As part of ID's Red Hot Saturday Nights, SCORNED: LOVE KILLS uncovers crimes of passion sparked by a spurned lover's snap from provocative paramour to predacious threat. See the dark side of love with a voyeuristic peek into the lust and obsession that fueled some of the most senseless, but definitely not emotionless, crimes to make front-page headlines. The stories featured in SCORNED pair sexual intrigue with bedded betrayal to form a recipe for murder.

I can't help it, I'm a sucker for any ID show. I don't care if they recycle the same crime over and over again on different series. I will tune in every time.

However, I had not heard of the Dan and Trish Willoughby case before and, lordy, it did not disappoint. Like the other ID shows it relies heavily on re-enactments rather than archival footage but it actually worked in their favor for this particular episode. When the "twist" was revealed at the end and they finally showed an actual picture of the temptress I LOLd (for realz). That "twist" should have been obvious to anyone, especially Dan Willoughby.

I also dig the opening credits song. I hope this series takes off.

I heard this case on "Snapped" - and I totally agree with you re: "the twist" (which was obvious on Snapped b/c of the use of photographs throughout).

This show blows. "Scorned" is supposed to imply jilted lovers. Instead, this show is entirely about spouses who kill each other so that they can take up with a lover. The only one "scorned" is the one who never knew they were "scorned."

Ridiculous. Rename this show "Philanderers"

Haha! I do chuckle a little when they switch scenes and you hear, "uhhhhhhhhh." Awesomely cheesy.

I'm off to find the Snapped episode on the Willoughbys. That was good stuff.

For me it's like Dateline meets Red Shoe Diaries....and that's a good thing! The show is definitely watchable in a campy way.

Yeah, the title is just one of many things I hate about this show. It makes no sense.

On top of that, the show is another in the line of ID's "I married an asshole" genre. I just don't like this vein. I like the straight-up crime shows that have minimal re-enactments. The only re-enactment show I like is Kenda's offering, and that's because I like him. Of all their recent shows, the only two that don't make me feel embarrassed to be watching are Homicide Hunter and Disappeared. I tried this one, but it's much more Stolen Voices and much less Homicide Hunter. No thanks.

I am LOVING this show.

I enjoy the re-enactments & I think this show does a much better job with them than Deadly Women. I like how all the murders are related to sexual indiscretions. Since I watch SO many of these true crime series, to me it's a fresh approach.


I have a terrible memory for names but is everyone talking about Yesenia? I remember *her from Snapped. How oh How could he not know?

Yeah, the Willoughby case is with Yesenia. I had to wonder that, too, but I guess the surgery was done really well.

I think my chihuahua and I could do a better job with re-enactments than Deadly Women (seriously - that show is so campy, which is why I love it).

I don't find this show to be either terrible or great, but I concur with the assessment that the sex re-enactments are very Red Shoe Diaries. Too bad they can't get David Duchovny to narrate. ;)

Why am I picturing your chihuahua wearing a cheap blonde wig with a toy gun by his/her paws? Probably because I watch too much 'The Soup'.

I can watch 'Deadly Women', which is delightfully campy but this show just sucks. I tried watching the Stephen Grant/Tara Grant episode but I just couldn't stomach the ridiculous soft porn vibe and the generally poor production values. The 19 year old au pair looked older than the 35 year old victim. The actress portraying a 19 year old blonde German au pair was a better cheap Nicole Richie impersonator and her 'blonde' hair had about five inches of dark brown roots.

Then as they were cataloging all the failed au pair seductions, they dressed all of the actresses in highly stylized lingerie. I worked as a nanny back on my native Cape Cod and I knew a bunch of Irish, German or Swedish au pairs and unsurprisingly, not a single one of them lounged around the house like they were at the Playboy mansion.

When I realized I wasn't even halfway through the episode, I deleted it from my dvr and googled the case. I was astonished to realize it was a case I saw on 'Dateline' awhile back. They coverage of the case bared little resemblance to the case.

I was only half-listening to last night's episode, but the mention of Jensen's computer having 2,800 penis pictures in folders labelled "Large", "Medium" and "Favorites" certainly made my ears prick up! Interesting obsession, to say the least.

Yeah, I had seen this case profiled before on "48 Hours Mystery," and I am pretty positive that particular detail wasn't included on that show! Definitely a mental <needle scratch> moment for me, heh.

I just watched the one with Keyon/Carla/Avis - the two teachers and the pregnant fiance. Yes, the sex scenes were excessive...especially since they kept showing HER. Now if they would have shown HIM more I might not have complained so much. LOL! The enactments are very terrible but I like the show enough to watch it again. I won't DVR it though. It's almost like you know what has to happen. Somebody is going to die and the spouse or the side piece probably did it. It's just interesting to me because I like to see how inappropriate relationships develop and how someone gets so sprung they think murder is the only solution.

And the Dan Willouby/Yesenia story has been on several shows and I LOVE it. What I want more than anything is to see his expression when he finds out she used to be a he. Is there no footage of that anywhere? It seems like this show is cheesy/tacky enough to play it. And I'd watch it and love it.

I'll admit - I watched the marathon over the weekend and even though it is terrible I watched all of them (on Tivo). Since almost all of these stories have been shown on other similar (but better) shows, the biggest mystery to most of the stories is what the protagonists actually look like - they should all be incredibly flattered at the model-types this show casts for the cheesy re-enactments - I sometimes expect the women to start talking about their likes, dislikes and turn-ons when they turn to look at the camera. Sometimes they'll only flash up a brief picture of the real person at the beginning or one of the people and then you have to wait to the end to see the killer. They are particularly generous with the men since most of them either look like rednecks or fat, middle-aged sad dudes.

This show is campy, and I often like campy stuff. But I have a low threshold of tolerance for this series for some of the reasons mentioned above. The cheesy sexy stuff is often more irritating than titillating to me, and good lord can they every draaag out the "romance" and sexy stuff. Sheesh, I'm ready to grab a gun about 35 minutes into the episode and shoot *anybody* just to move things along. (Just kidding!! I know, it's all a TV show. And I don't have a gun.)

Definitely, the title is "off," as discussed above. I usually lose interest before an episode is over and switch it off, so my memory may not be accurate. But anyway, I don't recall an episode where a "scorned" lover commits a crime; as noted, it always seems to be a spouse or "side piece" (good one, scruffy73!) who disposes of the inconvenient spouse. So they can avoid the pain and hassle of legal separation and (gasp!) divorce.

Frankly, the various new ID series tend to blend into each other lately in my mind. It's either philandering spouses killing their mates, or stupid low-life sociopaths killing people just because they can. Maybe I've just seen my fill of this stuff and it's time for me to move on. (Though I do have hopes for "Behind Mansion Walls" which has new eps starting next week.)

I actually like this show, cheesy soft-porn reenactments and all. But so far (and I admit I've only seen five episodes) all the murders are either women who are evil seductresses who murdered their husbands or evil working women who didn't fulfill their husbands desires for the perfect wife who got murdered by their husbands. Um, are the women ALWAYS the ones who are at fault in this series? Or am I just getting a bunch in a row with that theme?

I agree. Also I could take this show more serious if the actors hired to renact the cheating and subsequent crimes weren't all 20- something wannabe porn stars. I've seen many of these cases profiled here on other shows and most of the people involved were well into their 30s and 40s, sometimes even 50s when the crimes took place.

As with most ID shows, the reenactments are crap. I prefer Snapped. But what I hate most is when they break the fourth wall and look directly into the camera All. The. Time! I see how it's an effective technique from time to time; but they do it every time. I just want to say to the cheesy actors, "Stop looking at me!"

I've been watching today's mini-marathon on ID, and...wow. To quote a fellow TWoPper on another thread, I've watched porn that wasn't so porn-y. All it's missing is a bow-chicka-wow soundtrack.(It's telling that the disclaimer ID runs for this show, instead of the standard "this program might be disturbing to some viewers," only mentions "adult sexual situations." OH yeah.)

The one I saw had a married Greek guy who asked his temptress mistress bar-keep to find someone to kill his wife. Greek guy cute & sexy in the reenactment. Same with the temptress. Long-haired runaway bad girl type. Couldn't tell w/ the wife. She actually may have been attractive in real life.

At the end they showed the real footage of the police interviews. The "temptress" was dumpy & anything but tempting. The guy was about 25 yrs older & looked fine for a man his age but he was no sexy playboy.


Fortunately I think the wife lived. I always fall asleep before the episodes end & I'm too lazy to fast forward the DVR (yes. I tape it ) later.

This is from a while back, but I had to comment on it. This is another reason I refuse to watch this (or most of ID's programming). It has become a haven for misogyny. Nothing a woman does is ever "right". If she's too sexy, she's a whore who's likely to kill someone. If she's not sexy enough, she's frigid and brought her own death on herself. Both mean she's subhuman. This has become the spin on too many of ID's shows, and this one is among the worst. I just can't...

Had anyone seen the episode with the bizarre love triangle, or quadrangle with the North Carolina Central students? A guy named Steven was having an affair with a married female schoolmate and having sex with another female student. The married girl was found dead.

Steven was a tenant in the home of some pastor or something. The pastor, nicknamed Bishop was gay and Steven claimed that Bishop offered him a break on the rent in exchange for sex. Steven also claims that he refused Bishop's advances, yet he was still allowed to live in his home rent free. (ummm.) Turns out Bishop murdered the married girl and slashed the other girl's tires. I find Steven's story shady. I don't think he had anything to do with harming those girls, but I totally believe he had a sexual relationship with that man. The show only used Steven's first name, but his last name was used in news stories. He's a very handsome guy. Much better looking than the actor they used to portray him, IMO. Shame that's not the only murdered NCCU student featured on one of these shows. The poor girl who was shot in the head by her sleaze fiance's crazy sex buddy was also a student there. That story was on Snapped.

I too think Steven was sexing the Bishop! What makes me suspicious is the threatening voicemail. Did the best friend/sex buddy not let Steven listen to the voicemail? Why was his first time hearing (and knowing)that the Bishop was stalking his women? I know that poor husband was hurt and shocked to find out all his wife was doing behind his back.

Add me to the list of those who thinks that at some point, Steven was doing more with the Bishop than talking. They might not have been going all the way, but I do believe Steven was providing the Bishop with some sort of sexual favor so that he could continue staying in the house rent free.

That said, IMHO the Bishop had absolutely no right to think that Steven owed him a monogamous relationship, sexual or otherwise. No matter what was going on between them, Steven was still screwing other women in the house with no regard for Bishop. The preacher thinking that getting those women out of the way would somehow force Steven to give him a real chance was delusional.
