Jeff passed the comment that he had lost a really good friend because of his behavior in the past, I'm wondering if he's finally coming to terms with the fact that Ryan may have been the one that got away.

I don't think Jeff wanted to be with Ryan romantically (by the time their friendship ended, Ryan was married with a child that Jeff adored) but I definitely think he was talking about Ryan there. Ryan was doing some shady things, but Jeff seems to recognize it was his insane need to control that led to the end of that relationship, and it was an important one to him. Even though he's grown a lot in the past few years, sometimes when he advises these Interior Couples, I wonder if he takes any of his own advice when it comes to Gage.

Still, really enjoyed this season compared to last year. So glad they've stopped pretending Jeff and Jennie have to sleep there with the couples. And Jeff's insight into these people is remarkable.

I wish they would have a reunion type, or "Where are they now?", episode or special at the end of the season.

What the hell?  If that were my daughter, I would be staging an intervention.

I'd skip the intervention and go straight for the gun. And I'm not one for violence and have never seen much less handled a gun in my life. I was watching this thinking, if her father is alive, I'm sure he's polishing that puppy right now and heading west. And I suggest he air this episode as part of his defense, he'd get probation for the murder, and deservedly so, it would be a public service getting rid of this supreme asshole.

It amazes me how many emotionally abused women there are who don't apparently realize that their situation is almost as bad as those who are physically abused. Just because he's not beating you morning, noon, and night doesn't mean the shit he's spouting is even remotely close to okay. Get the heck out of there, honey. Hope she's already gone. Hope every single one of her friends and loved ones saw this and are doing everything possible of getting her out of there. No matter what shack she was living in off her "fit model" earnings, it wasn't bad enough to deal with this abusive shit. Get out of there and leave your hateful, deeply closeted gay husband.

I'd love a "where are they now" type of show to catchup on a few of these people. I mean, the whole thing about this show is fix the looks of the house but really, try to help the relationship and family be more functional. There are plenty we could hear about and unlike Jillian and Grant, it's hard to know what happens with most of these people in the future. It'd also be interesting to see if the house still looks as good as when Jeff left. For this couple, I hope she's already filed the divorce papers, but fear she hasn't because she must be hung up on the money he has, nothing else makes any sense. And he's so busy telling her she's fat and ugly that she apparently isn't aware that some other guy with money would snap her up in a second if that was really her concern.

Did anyone catch that snippet at the very end where Ryan said his Dad was just like him, and his mom was like Jordan?  So he's clearly continuing the cycle...

I would like a follow-up episode too.  Surely Andy can hook that up.

The wife on the last episode was a fit model--that means designers use her body to pattern on because it is perfectly proportioned.  And that was not good enough for the pointy little husband.   He was absolutely horrible.  "Don't be so strong or I'll take you out".  I'd have decked him.

It actually made me mad that Jeff compared himself to that guy.  I've watched every episode of Flipping Out more than once and Jeff used to be a very big screamer, and definitely controlling but he always had a decent heart inside.

It made me think back to Jeff in the first season on TV and how far he's come after seeing himself on TV and recognizing he needed to change some things.   He's not perfect, but he's grown a lot as a person.

Agreed, Jeff was belittling and nit picking and perhaps harmful emotionally in his past, but the guy in this past episode threatened violence against his wife for 'talking back.' That is a whole level beyond. My main problem with Jeff actually is that he allows a lot of inappropriate sex talk and behavior in the workplace. (Hasn't he been paying attention to what happened to Paula Deen?) He was playing porn DVDs on a prior episode! I know the workers were all laughing, but still...

And all the talk about boobs and the putting tape on Zoila's butt and going through her underwear drawer in the past...dude has a long way to go.

But I still wouldn't put Jeff in the same continent as this guy in the past episode (I don't even wanna type his name) for sheer assholery. ITA.

I was watching this thinking, if her father is alive, I'm sure he's polishing that puppy right now and heading west.

I think no one will ride to her rescue and this is why...(ETA and after he said this, she said so were her parents.)

Did anyone catch that snippet at the very end where Ryan said his Dad was just like him, and his mom was like Jordan?  So he's clearly continuing the cycle...

Yes, and if they have kids, the girl and boy will most likely continue it as well, abusing or being abused. Why do some people (like the A-hole's parents apparently) think being wealthy at all (and there are some far wealthier - run girl run) makes abuse okay? Either to deal out or to live with? I got the sense her parents were not wealthy though and that she feels like she hit the jackpot, a guy who'd actually put up with HER and who has nice things. And the rest, to her, probably seems normal.

And he's so busy telling her she's fat and ugly that she apparently isn't aware that some other guy with money would snap her up in a second if that was really her concern.

And I hope that is exactly what she does...or puts in her ten years and then by California law takes half...or gets a better lawyer and takes every penny. Because, just let that A-hole try to find anyone remotely similar to her, or even do more than run away from his miserable ass in a bar somewhere, if he didn't have his (probably family) money.

Ryan and Jordan:

Gay man here says: Jordan's Ryan is gayer than Jeff's Ryan. No straight man tries to justify his interest in muscular male nudes by saying "I just have a love for the human form".

Ryan's a produce wholesaler. I think his family owns an orchard in Ojai. His last name is Lafferty, but his father was named Walker.

What I don't get is: he's married to this fat, ugly woman with Dumbo ears and small boobs who is stupid and who has lousy taste. So what does that make him? The guy who could only get laid by a fat, ugly woman with Dumbo ears and small boobs who is stupid and who has lousy taste. This is supposed to be good for his ego? Don't get. At all. My partner is far above me, I think he's hot and talented and bright and kind and the fact that this great guy loves me is extremely flattering to me. How does the opposite worK?

I've never understood that about abusive types either, marcparis. People who put their significant other down constantly...I want to ask people like the A-hole in this episode, then why are you there? And is that the best  you could do?

They're just projecting their own self loathing outward.

A-hole is not attractive whatsoever. And ears? He looks like a starved elf.

His last name was something along the lines, accounting for wrong spelling, Polusky. I just watched this morning and he said his and she has taken his name and repeated it. I think you are correct about where his money comes from, a family owned orchard in Ojai sounds about right.

I can only describe Jordan's voice as wimpy vocal fry and very annoying.

Sorry to say, but even if she did leave Ryan, Jordan would most likely meet another controlling jerk. The low self-esteem is a magnet for those types.

I think marcparis was making a cute reference to the show Brothers and Sisters. Their family name was Walker, and they had a produce business located in Ojai even though they lived in Pasadena and made the commute sound like a cakewalk. A brother who they knew nothing about surfaced, and his name was Ryan Lafferty.

I'm starting to dislike this show. Jeff and Jenni are not therapists, and redecorating a home does not even begin to solve deep, marital problems. Jeff seems very insightful, but without actual training, I have to assume some of this is staged or Jeff is being told what to say. While most of the episodes seem to be about one partner having all the say in decorating and then Jeff magically gets the other person to 'change their thinking', but solving problems is not that easy.

I hated Ryan, and could not imagine why Jordan would marry someone who refused to meet her family, or who would force her to have surgeries she may not have wanted. Of course, at the end we are supposed to believe all is well and Ryan will now be understanding and fair. So, I guess if my husband and i are having problems, we just need to hire an interior decorator.

And likewise, didn't Jordan say Ryan was like her dad?

It seems they're both comfortable with the familiarity--as in, every pot has its lid.

And I did watch Brothers & Sisters (though reluctantly by the time that storyline arose) but missed the Walker reference at the end of the above comment or I would have gotten the joke. Sorry about that. But yeah, I was really thinking this hateful Ryan had family money since a produce wholesaler didn't fit anything about him to me beyond his obsession with salads and I immediately thought of produce farms in Oxnard and Ojai.

Oh my.  Jeff's client Marki Costello has her own reality show.   It is on Cloo --called The Drama Queen--seems to be about her talent agency.

She appears to have studied with Patti Stanger and Abby from Dance Moms from the first episode--they were recruiting talent--and she already had that mother from Toddlers and Tiaras on that dressed her little girl as the hooker from Pretty Woman.

I'd love an update on the fit model and the starved elf.
