Troy photographs women for a living, doesn't he?
Point: He's prob'ly very good at making women who are doing as their told feel awesome in the short term. If a photographer can't make a woman feel awesome he's going to get some sullen photos!
His comments/generalizations about women are pretty awful, and (at the risk of generalizing) indicate superficial relationships, which are not uncommon in the modeling world.
My guess is that he turned on the charm that always works, and it did as far as the women liking him in the beginning. His mistake was forgetting that they were on the same playing field as he was. Their plan to vote him out wasn't personal, but they were going to vote him out regardless.
Would that they were sticking to their original plan have been shocking to him if they were a tribe of both genders? Maybe, but maybe he wouldn't have made as positive of initial relationships with an opposing tribe of mixed genders. It certainly seems as though both he and Colton were better prepared to align with women than men if you look at the rocky roads they both had in the men's tribe against how social they were with the women. Come to think of it, Tarzan too may be in an industry that gives him inroads to getting along with women better than men.....
Troy reacted negatively to the realization that the women didn't need him particularly, that they were "going with the flow" of what was best for them and that said flow of who's aligned not only didn't include him, but identified him as a threat. This, of course made it real easy for the women to confirm that he was a threat. If he were able to comprehend it he might realize that he's mad at himself for making assumptions about the opposing tribe based on getting along when thrown together.
If he had more ability to see outside of his box, and more humility, he'd be where Tarzan is, possibly with a better chance to win.
