Starts next Saturday!
"Commissioned by BBC1 to commemorate the 70th anniversary of World War II, LAND GIRLS follows the lives, loves, highs and lows of four young English women who left their homes and families to join the Woman's Land Army. A civilian organization, the WLA sent city women to rural farms to replace the male workers who had been called up to the military."

I saw the movie with Rachel Weitz and Stephen Macintosh several years ago. I didn't know there was a series too. I'll keep a look out for it.

Between this and 'Bomb Girls' people seem to be loving to make women working in WWII scenarios for tv shows right now. Who knows, maybe now is the time to try a tv spin off for 'A League of Their Own', or try one again. They tried on in the 90's, and it tanked.

This is quite a wonderful show. Not all that historically accurate or consistent writing or acting wise, but highly entertaining. Unfortunately, only series 1 is on streaming and neither 2 or 3 are available on disc yet.

It is watchable but not as good as Call the Midwife.
